Chapter 658 Billy's Crimes Exposed
Martin knew that Billy wouldn't admit to anything unless the evidence were right in front of him. Martin opened his phone directly and played a recording without wasting words.
The conversation between Maximilian and a woman echoed clearly, reaching every corner of the ward. When they heard the recording, besides Martin and Ryan, Kaleb, Joe, and Billy all had grim expressions.
Especially Billy.
Billy was greatly shaken, his face turning from white to red, then to blue.
"No, it can't be... You can't..." Billy's face was filled with disbelief, confusion, and anger. Various emotions flickered in his eyes, with a subtle hint of hidden hurt.
Kaleb didn't know what he was feeling at that moment. Kaleb felt relieved that Linda was not Margaret, but he was shocked by Billy's ruthlessness.
While Billy was distracted, Joe snatched the folder he was hiding behind him. Upon seeing the contents of the folder, Joe angrily smashed it into Billy's face.
"What else do you have to say? I am your father, and you even schemed against me? You made me deceive my best brother."
Billy's face stung from the impact of the folder.
However, he showed no reaction, as if his body had gone numb, only feeling the hurt and injustice of being deceived.
"Dad, I'm sorry... I didn't know things would turn out like this... It's all my fault... all my fault..."
In everyone's ears, Billy's words undoubtedly admitted to all the crimes he had committed.
Ryan sneered, "Hypocrite. If you had an ounce of conscience, you wouldn't have caused the deaths of Linda and then tried to harm Maximilian. You are simply inhuman."
Joe grabbed Billy by the collar, shaking him furiously. "Why? How did my son turn into this? How did you become like this? How did I raise you from childhood? Have you forgotten everything? I've always said to be honest and upright and be true to yourself and the world. Do you still consider me your father?"
Billy wondered how he would face his good brother in the future. As Joe spoke, tears streamed down his face. Joe, a powerful figure in politics who had never flinched for years, was now crying. Billy's eyes also reddened, tears swirling in his eyes. "Dad, I'm sorry... I have disappointed you..." Billy said.
Joe, both heartbroken and furious, pushed him away. "I am not your dad. I don't have a son like you. From now on, don't call me dad. I don't want to see you again."
Billy stumbled back from Joe's push, taking a few unsteady steps. "Dad, I'm sorry, I... I must go find out the truth. After everything is clear, I will personally apologize to you and Kaleb..."
With that, before anyone could react, Billy ran off. By the time Ryan realized and chased after him, Billy was nowhere to be seen in the corridor.
"What... What is this? Fleeing in fear? Dare to act but not to face the consequences?"
Joe cried uncontrollably, grabbing Kaleb's arm as if about to kneel down. Kaleb sensed something was wrong and immediately asked, "What are you doing?"
Joe, with his head down, felt ashamed. "Kaleb, I'm sorry. It's my failure in parenting that led to my son's misdeeds, almost costing Maximilian his life."
After speaking, Joe paused for a moment, then continued, "Rest assured, if he has done wrong, he must face the consequences. I will personally take him to the police station tomorrow to confess and accept punishment."
Although Kaleb blamed Billy, he also knew that if Billy ended up in prison, Joe's political career would be over.
The Hill family, which had stood for decades in Country D, would also fall overnight.
Kaleb couldn't bear to see Joe's hard work over the years destroyed in an instant.
"I accept the apology, but let Billy off the hook for confessing and facing the consequences! Hasn't Maximilian already passed the danger zone? Let's leave it at that!" Kaleb said.
Joe firmly refused. "No! Although Maximilian has passed the danger zone, Linda and her son are innocent. They lost their lives because of Billy's selfishness! Billy must pay for what he has done."
"Joe, no..." Kaleb wanted to continue persuading, but Joe wouldn't listen to a word.
"Kaleb, there's no need to say more. My mind is made up. I'm going to find that beast now..."
With that, without waiting for Kaleb to speak again, Joe had already run off.
Joe and Billy, both impulsive, just like that, disappeared in an instant.
Billy and Joe left.
In the ward, only Martin, Ryan, and Kaleb remained.
Approaching the bedside with a mix of excitement and anticipation, Kaleb inquired, "Is Linda truly not Margaret?"
Martin nodded. "No, she isn't! If you don't believe it, you can ask the landlady Or inquire around. Even if Billy has extraordinary abilities, he can't hide the truth forever. If investigated, the truth will come out."
Kaleb naturally believed Martin.
In fact, he hoped that Linda and her son were not Margaret and his child.
At least that would mean they hadn't met a tragic fate due to a curse.
"Thank you, thank you. If it weren't for you, who knows how many more bad things Billy would have done!" Kaleb sincerely thanked Martin.
Unveiling Billy's true nature may have prevented a cascade of malicious deeds unknown to them, yet they remained blissfully unaware.
Martin chuckled. "There is no need to thank me! I should be thanking you. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be alive now."
Kaleb smiled and didn't continue the conversation with Martin. "Rest well! I'll bring the medication for you tomorrow."
"Thank you so much!" Kaleb smiled and left the ward.
Ryan stretched with a big yawn. "Ah, these days, no rest at all! Martin, do you think Joe will really take Billy to the authorities?"
Martin didn't answer his question. "That's not our concern anymore! Whatever the outcome, it's no longer our business. Let's get some sleep! It's late."
Ryan yawned again, his eyes moist, nodding. "Indeed, I'm so tired!"
With that, Ryan turned off the ward light at the door and returned to the folding bed. Meanwhile, as Billy left the ward, he stepped on the gas pedal, racing through the deserted streets at 120 miles per hour.
An hour later, he arrived at a resort on the outskirts, frantically ringing the doorbell.
Unfortunately, there was no response inside, as if no one lived there.
Seeing no one answering the door, Billy took out his phone and dialed a familiar number.
After a long wait, a pleasant, deep male voice replied, "Billy..."
