Chapter 829: Charles's Change in Attitude Toward Hannah

The director just stared at Charles, waiting for him to say something.

Hannah's heart was pounding. She was freaking out about being late to work again and was on the verge of tears.

She swore to herself she'd never touch alcohol again.

Wyatt shot a glance at Charles and Hannah, keeping his mouth shut.

Everyone thought Charles was gonna lay into Hannah, maybe even dock her pay or something. But instead, he just smiled and asked, "Did you sleep okay last night?"

Everyone was like, "What?"

Hannah didn't say anything, so Charles kept going, "Got a headache? If you're not feeling great, take the day off. Go home and chill."

Hannah forced a smile, "Thanks, Mr. Watson. I'm good! Didn't drink much last night, so I'm fine."

She started replaying last night in her head.

Yeah, she got pretty wasted, and Charles ended up taking her home.

At first, everything was cool. She was in bed, and Charles made her some hangover soup.

But then she felt super sick, leaned over, and puked everywhere.

After that, she felt better and crashed again.

She couldn't remember anything after that.

Charles smiled, "Glad you're okay! We got some stuff to do. There's a chill spot in my office; you can rest there. We'll grab lunch together when we get back."

"No, no, I'm good. Slept well, don't need to rest!" Hannah was kinda freaked out.

What was up with Charles? He seemed different from yesterday.

She couldn't put her finger on it, but something was off. He was being super nice.

She was late, and instead of chewing her out, he let her rest in his office.

If Stella found out, she'd lose it.

Charles said gently, "Alright, then get today's stuff ready! We'll be back soon!"

"Okay!" Hannah nodded.

Charles headed to the elevator, leaving the planning department director and Wyatt looking stunned.

Especially the director.

His jaw dropped, like, seriously.

So, Charles knew Hannah drank last night?

Were they together last night?

The elevator doors opened, snapping the director and Wyatt back to reality. They quickly ran to join Charles in the elevator.

After they left, Hannah slumped into her seat.

Thinking about her argument with Austin last night, she felt annoyed.

'How should she make it up to Austin?' Hannah was confused.

Half an hour later, the company chat group was buzzing.

[Heard from our director that Mr. Watson didn't scold her or anything. He asked if she had a headache, if she needed to rest, even gave her the day off, and...]

Hearing this, everyone started buzzing.

[And what? Spill it already!]

[Yeah, don't leave us hanging!]

[And Mr. Watson even said if she was tired, she could crash in his office's rest area! That's his private spot! Even Wyatt hasn't chilled there.]

[No way, Mr. Watson let her use his rest area?]

[I always thought Mr. Watson was this tough, no-nonsense guy, always in control with his girlfriend. Didn't expect him to be such a softie.]

[Yeah, who knew? Mr. Watson's a total softie, breaking all the rules for her. This is straight-up favoritism!]

[Told you Hannah wasn't just anybody! Mr. Watson's head over heels for her!]

[And, and, they were probably together last night. Maybe they've been living together for a while.]

[If they're already shacking up, what's the point of betting? Mr. Watson would never lay into her.]

[See, I told you Mr. Watson wouldn't punish her! Look how long we've been here, and Mr. Watson's never had a partner. I heard from a relationship guru that guys like Mr. Watson either never fall in love, but when they do, it's for life.]

[For real?]

[Totally! I had a buddy like that. Super smart, all the way to his PhD, never had a girlfriend! Then he met this girl and treated her like gold. But she didn't appreciate him and dumped him. He couldn't handle it, got depressed, and ended up taking his own life. I even went to his funeral! None of us could believe it.]

[I've heard stories like that too.]

[So, you're saying Hannah's gonna be our future CEO's wife?]

[As long as she doesn't dump Mr. Watson, they're definitely getting hitched and staying together.]

[She's so lucky to have snagged a guy like Mr. Watson! Why didn't I meet him first? So jealous!]

[Same here, so jealous.]

Hannah wasn't in the company chat group, so she had no clue she was the talk of the town and the envy of all the women in the company.

At eleven, she went downstairs to pick up a package. As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, the employees waiting to go up started nodding at her.

"Hannah, running an errand?"

"Hannah, if you need any help, just holler. I'm here for you."

"Hannah, free at noon? Let me treat you to lunch."

Hannah was taken aback by their sudden friendliness.

Even the receptionist handed her the package with both hands, saying, "Hannah, you don't need to come down next time. Just call us, and we'll bring it up."

Hannah was so startled by their behavior that she quickly ran back upstairs with her package.

What she didn't know was that all this had been relayed to Austin through his dorm mate.

This time, since there were no pictures or names of Hannah, the message got through.

Austin read the chat logs and got super pissed.

After thinking it over, he closed the chat, found Hannah's number, and dialed it.
