Chapter 1066 Memories Resurface
Charles took Hannah's pitifully small suitcase and led her into the house. "Sit on the couch for a bit. I'll make you a cup of milk; it'll help you sleep better."
Hannah nodded, holding back her discomfort, and walked to the couch. She sat down with her legs together and hands on her thighs, adopting a very ladylike posture.
Stella and Randy followed them in.
Stella asked Hannah, "Hannah, since it's your first time here, how about I show you around? You'll be staying here for a while, so you should know where everything is."
Hannah thought for a moment and agreed, finding her words reasonable.
Stella took her hand and first led her to the bathroom.
"This is the main bathroom. It's divided into wet and dry areas. Inside is the shower, and outside is the sink area. There are new towels, toothbrushes, and toothpaste under the sink. The paper is in the drawer next to it. See, this is the body wash, this is the shampoo, and here's the conditioner!"
After the introduction, she took Hannah around the house, finally arriving at the master bedroom. "This is the master bedroom. There's a bathroom inside, set up just like the one outside. Skincare products are on the vanity! Pajamas are in the wardrobe, and clean sheets and pillowcases are on the top shelf."
Stella introduced each place to Hannah slowly.
Hannah followed her, feeling a strong sense of familiarity with each place. Fragments of memories flashed through her mind.
But because the fragments were too scattered and disappeared too quickly, she only felt a severe headache and couldn't see the content of those fragments clearly.
Stella finally took Hannah to the kitchen. "This is the kitchen. The seasonings are in the upper cabinet. This is the dishwasher. After each use, put the dishes in the dishwasher to clean and sanitize them."
Standing in front of the kitchen stove, Hannah suddenly heard a burst of playful voices in her ears.
"Get out! You're in the way."
"Can you handle it alone? Do you need my help?" The man's voice was gentle and doting.
"No, I'll be done soon. Be good and go out first."
"Hannah."
"What?"
"Hannah."
"What is it?"
"Hannah."
"You're so annoying. Why do you keep calling me? Go out and stop bothering me." Before the woman could finish speaking, her voice abruptly stopped.
Then came a series of breathy sounds that made one's face flush and heart race.
After the panting, before their breaths had calmed down, the man's voice, hoarse with desire, said, "Hannah, I like you."
"I like you too, Charles." The woman's voice was also hoarse, tinged with shyness.
As soon as this playful scene disappeared, others aappeared in her mind.
"It tickles... it tickles... I didn't mean to get dish soap bubbles on you."
"What are you doing? I said it wasn't on purpose."
"We share our blessings and our troubles. Now we both have bubbles on us. It's fair!"
"You're so annoying."
Many more scattered fragments forcibly flooded into Hannah's mind.
A sudden sharp pain hit her temples, and she couldn't help but hold her head and squat down. "It hurts... it hurts so much!"
Charles had just taken the heated milk out of the microwave. Seeing her squatting in pain, he immediately walked over, held her in his arms, and anxiously asked, "What's wrong?"
Hannah grabbed Charles's sleeve. "It hurts, my head hurts so much."
Stella also panicked. "She was fine just now. Why does her head suddenly hurt? Should we take her to the hospital?"
Hannah had just come out of the hospital and didn't want to return to that place filled with the smell of disinfectant. She shook her head desperately at Charles. "No, I don't want to go to the hospital!"
Charles lifted her from the ground and gently placed her on the couch after leaving the kitchen. "Stella, go get the milk!"
Stella had just come out of the kitchen. Hearing his words, she went back to get the milk. "Here's the milk."
Charles let Hannah lean against him, took the milk from Stella, and brought it to Hannah's lips. "Hannah, drink the milk. It will help with the pain."
His address overlapped with the voice that had just surfaced in Hannah's mind. Hannah froze, looking up at Charles in confusion. "Hannah?"
It wasn't the first time he had called her that. But when she was in the hospital in Country H, she didn't feel anything. Now, she felt so uncomfortable, like her heart was being squeezed by an invisible hand, making it hard to breathe.
Charles didn't understand why she asked that, nodded, and chuckled softly. "Yes, Hannah! Haven't I always called you that?"
As he spoke, he habitually rubbed his high nose against hers.
The intimate, natural, and habitual action made Hannah's eyes well up with tears. Why did she suddenly feel so familiar with Charles?
In Country H, she felt distant from him and didn't even want to talk to him.
"Charles." Hannah looked at Charles in confusion and involuntarily called his name.
As soon as she spoke, both of them froze.
Charles's eyes were filled with undisguised joy. "What did you just call me?"
Since finding Hannah, he hadn't heard her call him Charles again. Her mind was filled only with Tina. Charles didn't expect to hear her call him now.
Boundless joy surrounded Charles. His eyes reddened with excitement, and his hand holding the milk trembled slightly. "Hannah, did you... did you remember me?"
Hannah frowned, thinking for a while, but found that the scattered fragments in her mind were gone. She didn't even know why she had called him so intimately just now.
She didn't know how to answer, so she just looked at Charles in confusion and shook her head.
Charles knew he couldn't rush things now. Although Hannah hadn't remembered him, this was a good start, proving his decision was right.
He didn't push her, brought the milk to her lips, and gently said, "Drink the milk first! Then get some sleep. Your head won't hurt tomorrow!"
Hannah didn't refuse and obediently drank the milk.
Seeing the milky ring around her mouth, Charles chuckled, stretched out his long arm, grabbed a few tissues from the table, and gently wiped her mouth. "Like a child, you got it all over your mouth!"
His doting eyes, gentle tone, and intimate actions made Hannah's cheeks flush. She didn't dare to look Charles in the eye.
She hurriedly retreated from Charles's embrace. "I... I'm sleepy and want to sleep! Stella already showed me my room. I'll go to bed now!"
After speaking, she fled as if chased by a beast.
