Chapter 44 DNA Test
Meanwhile, the Langley family and Debbie also learned about this incident for the first time.
Debbie's face twisted with anger.
"Another illegitimate daughter! Can you believe it? Another one just popped up after Randy..."
What's even more tragic is that this illegitimate daughter was born during Martin's engagement to her.
For five years, Martin never touched her. The closest intimacy they had was holding hands. But he was able to father a child with another woman.
Manda hurriedly comforted her, "Debbie, don't get angry! There must be a misunderstanding here."
Although I don't have much contact with Martin, I still believe that he is not the type to mess around with relationships between men and women."
Debbie handed her phone to Manda. "Misunderstanding? How is that possible! Look at this little girl's face, doesn't she resemble him at three or four points?"
Manda took a closer look and immediately widened her eyes. "It does, it really does resemble him..."
However, the little girl had chubby cheeks, and if she wasn't carefully compared to Martin's photo, it would be impossible to tell.
With even her own mother saying this, Debbie became more certain that this wasn't a misunderstanding. She gritted her teeth and said,
"What's wrong with me compared to those other women? Why would he prefer an unidentified wild woman to bear his child rather than touch me?"
Manda sighed and comforted her, "It has come to this point, you can only accept it! After the illegitimate child is brought home, we have plenty of ways to deal with it. Randy's health has already been ruined by us halfway! I believe he won't live much longer."
Debbie's expression turned sinister, a hint of murderous intent swirling in her eyes. "Fine, she's still young now, it'll be easy to get rid of her! It's better than her growing up and coming back to claim her heritage! I'll make sure she enters the Langley family by right of birth, but she won't leave alive."
Anyone who competes with her would die... Debbie vowed silently.
At the Langley Mansion.
Samuel, the head of the Langley family, had been in poor health and was currently resting at home.
After Martin's stepmother, Martha, saw the search results about Martin's illegitimate daughter, she immediately informed Samuel Langley.
"Samuel, look at this. Martin actually has another illegitimate daughter."
Samuel understood Martin too well and subconsciously denied the news upon hearing it.
"In these years, which prestigious family hasn't had illegitimate children knocking on their doors? How many of them are true? Those people try every means to attach themselves to prestigious families, and you don't have to pay them any attention."
Martha was displeased. "Samuel, I think it's true! Look for yourself, someone has done an accurate comparison of Martin and the little girl's photos, their features are very similar."
Samuel still didn't believe. "People can resemble each other, it's normal."
Martha, dissatisfied, shoved her phone into Samuel's arms. "See for yourself!"
Samuel reluctantly took the phone and his expression slightly darkened when he saw the photo. "This..."
Martha sneered. "See? Do they look alike?"
Samuel furrowed his brows and rummaged through drawers in the house, finding a photo in an album. "Look, doesn't she resemble Charlotte more?"
Charlotte was his daughter from his previous marriage.
After the divorce, his ex-wife took their daughter and left Z Country, disappearing without a trace.
For the past twenty years, he had been searching for his daughter, but had yet to find any leads.
Martha widened her eyes in astonishment. "Really! Her eyes and nose do resemble Charlotte more. A niece could look like her aunt, could she really be Martin’s”
"Is she from a mistress?" Martha questioned.
"Do not judge without certainty!" Samuel said in a deep voice.
Martha, with hidden intentions, said, "Then we need to make sure! If she really is the Langley family's offspring, she can't be left to wander outside."
"Hmm!" Samuel agreed with a nod.
"Thank goodness Martin's grandparents are on vacation abroad, otherwise they would surely be furious with Martin," Martha secretly rejoiced, unable to conceal her delight, hoping for the situation to escalate.
After all, the two elderly folks only accepted Patricia as their daughter-in-law.
If they were to find out that Martin had fathered a child with another woman, they would surely be furious.
Samuel immediately said, "Do not tell them for now! I will find time to talk to Martin."
"......?!"
“Oh” Martha reluctantly agreed, her mind filled with ambitious calculations.
The farce at the Ivara City hotel continued.
Martin looked at the room full of reporters, and the tense lines on his face suddenly softened. He bent down and gently lifted Fannie from the ground, delicately tucking her stray hair behind her ear.
"Now I believe that you are my daughter! Take me to find your mommy, I want to meet her."
Wiping away her tears, Fannie said, "My name is Flora."
Martin's thin lips curled up slightly as he addressed everyone, "Let's all go together. After meeting her mother, I will officially welcome Flora into the Langley family. You can all serve as witnesses for me!"
Fannie paused for a moment, a hint of panic flickering in her eyes, but quickly regaining her composure.
"Mommy is very sick, the doctor said she shouldn't have too many visitors! It's enough for daddy and me to go!"
Afraid that Martin wouldn't believe her, she cried softly, "Daddy, I'm telling the truth! If Uncle Doctor finds out that I brought so many people to visit mommy, he will scold me."
Seeing her pitiful state, everyone said, "Mr. Langley, the patient needs rest and shouldn't be visited by too many people. We won't go, you and your daughter can go together!"
As they left, they added threateningly, "We will follow up at any time and make sure to provide a satisfactory outcome for the masses."
A blatant threat.
Martin laughed angrily, looking at the little girl in his arms with a fake smile but fire burning in his chest.
The press conference came to an end.
The reporters orderly left.
Martin clenched his teeth, his voice filled with anger as he whispered in Fannie's ear,
"You better pray for a miracle, or... I will make sure neither you nor the people behind you see the sun tomorrow."
Fannie slightly opened her eyes to a slit, seeing that the reporters had left, she stopped pretending and hugged Martin's neck, her eyes twinkling like stars and a childlike innocence on her face, "Daddy, what are you saying? Why couldn't I understand?"
Martin's lips formed a cold arc as he smirked, a voice as frosty as ice.
"You are very clever." He admitted. "Will you not understand?"
Fannie's bright eyes shimmered. "Thank you, Daddy, for the compliment. I also think I'm clever, but Mommy always says I'm dumb."
"......??" Martin couldn't figure out if she genuinely didn't understand or if she was pretending not to understand, so he said to Alan, "Arrange for a doctor, let's do the DNA test now."
Although he was certain that he didn't have a secret daughter, DNA testing would be the most favorable way to prove his innocence.
Alan left early to make arrangements.
Martin held Fannie tightly, smiling coldly. "Don't attempt to run away, you can't escape!"
Fannie wrapped her arms around his neck, laughing innocently. "Flora likes Daddy the most. For years, my biggest wish has been to reunite with Daddy. I won't run away."
"Haha..." Martin gently pinched her nose and teased, "I almost believed you."
"Daddy, why don't you believe me? My soul is fragile, and it would hurt me." Fannie whined as she snuggled into his arms, constantly rubbing against him.
Martin's heart inexplicably softened, filled with indescribable warmth. He was startled by this sudden thought and had a terrified expression, as if seeing a ghost.
