Chapter 62 Charles Disguises as Randy to Visit Patricia
At this moment, his mind was full of Patricia's injuries, focusing wholeheartedly. He gently and carefully wiped the sweat off her body and then helped her put on the patient gown.
When switching to the hand with the IV, he carefully threaded the drip bag through her sleeve. After changing her clothes, he used a dry towel to wipe her damp hair.
His movements were gentle and meticulous, treating her as if she were a delicate porcelain doll, afraid that any carelessness would cause her to shatter.
After finishing everything, it was already close to 5 am.
Although autumn had arrived, the sky was still bright early in the morning. The dawn slowly crept in through the balcony and fell upon Patricia's face through the window.
Martin sat tiredly on the side, quietly gazing at her with a dazed expression.
After the IV drip, Patricia's fever completely subsided, and the swelling on her face had also reduced. A faint hint of vitality returned to her pale face.
Martin let out a relieved sigh, his eyes overflowing with tenderness.
At this moment, Alan walked in carrying breakfast, noticing Martin's exhausted appearance, he voiced his concern, "Boss, you've been busy all night without sleeping. Go rest first! I'll take care of the lady."
Martin didn't reply, his face darkened, and he asked sternly, "Have all the people been captured?"
Alan understood what he was asking, bowed his head, and respectfully replied, "Yes! All the necessary individuals have been captured, and we have collected all the necessary information."
Martin's deep black eyes contracted suddenly, and in an instant, a storm brewed within him.
"Keep a close eye on them. I'll personally interrogate them."
Alan answered, "They are all being held in the basement and can be interrogated at any time."
Martin fell silent for a moment before asking, "What about the ambulance? Has the surveillance video been recovered?"
Alan hesitated and replied, "Hmm! Luke has been working on it. The person who deleted the video was prepared; they infected the system with a virus. Luke is still clearing the virus. It is taking some time but he should be able to retrieve the full video."
M Martin’s expression turned icy quickly, becoming eerily menacing. "Faster!"
Alan was taken aback by his cold snort and responded quietly, "Yes, Boss, I will tell him to work faster."
Martin raised his hand and said, "Leave the breakfast and go to the company! If there is an emergency that needs to be handled, bring the documents to the hospital and find me. And handle the video."
"Alright!" Alan did not dare to disobey his command and left after placing down the breakfast.
Three hours later, Patricia, who was in a deep sleep, finally woke up slowly. Martin immediately went to check her forehead temperature.
As Patricia just woke up, her mind was still unclear, and she obediently allowed him to do so.
After discovering that her temperature had completely subsided, Martin's tense facial lines relaxed entirely. He slightly raised his thin lips and said, "You had a fever last night, reaching 104 degrees. Fortunately, it wasn't caused by intracranial hemorrhage. Now that it has subsided, you should be fine."
Patricia touched her forehead and said incredulously, "I had a fever!? No wonder I feel sore all over, like I’ve been hit by a car."
Martin laughed and said, "After a high fever, the body feels uncomfortable. Just rest for a few days, and you'll be fine."
Patricia rolled her eyes at him and jokingly said, quoting his words from yesterday, "I am a doctor, not a three-year-old child. I have the most basic knowledge as a doctor."
Seeing that she could still make jokes, Martin raised an eyebrow and emitted a deep chuckle from his throat and said, "Professor Watson, breakfast is ready. If you're feeling alright, come and have breakfast. You didn't even have dinner last night!"
Patricia nodded and struggled to get up.
Worried that she might not be able to get up, Martin reached out and held her back, helping her sit up.
"Thank you!" After expressing her gratitude, Patricia seemed to remember something and her gaze dimmed as she blamed herself, "Oh, I forgot Randy. I caused him to have difficulties with his surgery today."
Martin consoled, "Since you came back, he has been managing his condition well. Delaying the surgery for a while won't be a problem."
Although he said that, Patricia still felt guilty thinking about her son enduring a few more days of suffering from his heart condition.
Martin didn't let her dwell on her thoughts and helped her off the bed.
When she finished washing up and came out of the bathroom, Martin had already placed the breakfast on the table.
"The doctor said you shouldn't eat anything too greasy or spicy, so I had the nurse buy you some corn soup with vegetables. Just make do with it."
Patricia sat down on the bedside and looked at the freshly cooked vegetables, smiling, "You made this, didn't you?"
Martin didn't answer her question and handed her the spoon, saying, "Can you manage? If not, should I feed you?"
Patricia was speechless and said, "My head is injured, not my hand."
Patricia started drinking her own portion, and she immediately frowned, looking disgusted.
"Your cooking isn't as delicious as your standards." Patricia glared at him, "Randy is picky, just like you."
Martin took pride instead of shame, "He's my son, of course he's like me!"
Patricia rolled her eyes in silence, exasperated.
On this side, the atmosphere was harmonious.
On the other side, Jade had already brought Fannie and Charles to the hospital. According to the instructions Charles had given her, Fannie dialed Randy's number.
It was now time for the Doctor’s rounds but because of Patricia's injury, they were delayed.
The call connected quickly, and when Randy heard that Fannie was at the hospital, his surprise was evident in his tone, "You really came? Wait for me at the flower bed downstairs, I'll come down right away."
After hanging up the phone, Charles, wearing a cap and mask, immediately ducked behind the flower bed.
After a short while, Randy arrived with a young female nurse following him.
Seeing Fannie, he couldn't hide his joy on his face, then enthusiastically said to Fannie, "Fannie, why did you suddenly come? I thought I heard wrong!"
Fannie affectionately held his hand, "Randy, did you have breakfast? I haven't eaten yet, can you please accompany me for breakfast?"
Randy didn't doubt her and readily agreed, "Sure! What do you want to eat?"
Pouting, Fannie said, "I don't like the food in the hospital cafeteria, I want to eat spaghetti from the restaurant across the street."
Randy readily agreed, "Okay! I'll take you there."
"Let's go!" Fannie was overjoyed with the success of her plan, leading him away.
Charles, hidden behind the flower bed, watched them leave and then took off his clothes, hat, and mask, putting them in a bag and stuffing it into the flower bed.
Randy, now wearing a patient's gown, didn't raise any suspicion from anyone as he smoothly made his way to the emergency room. He was about to ask the nurse for Patricia's room when he saw Debbie pushing Manda in a wheelchair into the room ahead.
He frowned, sensing that this mother and daughter duo were trouble, and quietly followed them.
Debbie pushed Manda into the room and saw Patricia and Martin sitting face to face, eating breakfast and chatting happily, with each spoonful feeding the other.
Jealousy flashed in Debbie’s eyes, and her body trembling.
