Chapter 75 Martin, What Are You Doing?
Startled by Martin's sudden appearance, Patricia, while relieved, couldn't help but feel angry, and her anger surged. "Martin, what are you doing?"
Martin's face turned pale and he stared at her, flames burning in his eyes. "Shouldn't I be asking you that question?"
For a moment, Patricia was bewildered. "What do you mean?"
Martin unintentionally increased the strength in his grip. "Do you understand the difference between men and women?"
Suddenly, Patricia understood his meaning and sneered, "It's the 21st century now. Do you still think it's so conservative?"
Martin's expression grew even more unpleasant. "Lack of self-respect."
This immediately angered Patricia. "What does that mean?"
"Not self-respecting? Just because of a collarbone? Besides..." She paused, her tone unknowingly becoming sharp. "Besides, what relationship do we have? What right do you have to control me? Even if I am not self-respecting, so what? I am single now, and if I want to be with several men, it's my choice. Can you do anything about it?"
"You..." Martin's handsome face twisted in anger, enveloped in a cold and chilling aura.
Patricia had no fear of him and continued relentlessly, "Do I control you when you're with women? So, don't meddle in my affairs with men. Let's just put up a front in front of Randy and stay out of each other's private lives."
Martin could hear it. She was still angry about what happened yesterday. His anger dissipated, replaced by a hint of helplessness.
"Yesterday, you misunderstood. That lipstick mark was not left by a woman, it was..."
Patricia interrupted him, "Not a woman? Could it be a man then? Martin, your taste has really gotten heavier."
"???"
Martin laughed in frustration, not knowing how to explain it to her for a moment.
If he didn't explain, Patricia would assume he agreed. Her chest felt sour, and she inexplicably felt a surge of distress.
Watching them argue as if nobody else was around, Hunter awkwardly cleared his throat, "Ahem, is it inappropriate for me to stay here? Maybe I should come back another day?"
Martin looked at him with frustration, and hearing that he wanted to leave made him even more eager for him to go.
"Go, no need to see you off!"
Patricia gave him a fierce glare and said to Hunter, "He should leave, not you. You've just arrived, why would you leave? It's mealtime now, let's go eat together."
"Is it appropriate?" Hunter trembled as he looked at Martin's fiery eyes.
Without even glancing at Martin, Patricia confidently said, "You don't need to worry about him. He's just my ex-husband and has no right to control me! Wait for me, I'll change into something else and come out right away."
"Alright!" Hunter readily agreed.
Patricia picked out a clean and refreshing outfit from the wardrobe and walked into the bathroom.
Before she went in, she didn't forget to give Martin a warning glare.
After Patricia left, it was just Martin and Hunter in the hospital room.
Hunter always had a faint smile on his lips, calm and composed as he found a place to sit and wait for Patricia.
A hint of annoyance flashed in Martin's eyes, and a cold and dignified aura gradually encompassed his handsome face.
After a moment, he hid his exposed emotions, sat down in front of Hunter, elegantly crossed his long legs, and smiled faintly, exuding nobility and elegance.
"Mr. Miller seems to have plenty of free time? It must be busy preparing for the subsidiary company, right?"
Hunter remained calm and composed, responding smoothly, "Indeed, it's busy, but no matter how busy, Patricia is more important."
With those few words, it almost ignited Martin's anger again, but fortunately, he managed to suppress it at the last moment.
As the saying goes, "
Man should prioritize his career, but Mr. Miller put aside important company matters for an ordinary friend. This doesn't seem appropriate, does it?"
When it came to the words 'ordinary friend,' emphasis was deliberately added.
The corner of Hunter's mouth deepened in a smile. "Who told Mr. Langley that Patricia and I are just ordinary friends?"
Martin's warm eyes suddenly tightened. "Not just ordinary friends?"
Leaning against the armrest of the sofa, Hunter elegantly rested his right elbow on it, still wearing a faint smile on his face. "As the saying goes, fine feathers make fine birds. Moreover, Patricia and I have been childhood friends for over ten years. We understand each other, naturally being the most suitable companions for a lifetime."
His words pushed Martin's anger to its peak, releasing a strong aura of low pressure. His icy gaze burned like blazing fire, as if he would only be satisfied by devouring Hunter.
Seemingly unaffected by the fury in his eyes, Hunter maintained his standard smile, exuding an elegance in every move and gesture, as if he were a noble gentleman.
Martin squinted his eyes, reevaluating Hunter.
He was the first person to face his pressure with such calmness.
This Hunter was not as simple as he appeared on the surface.
Although he was always smiling, every word he said was provoking him, trying to make him lose his temper.
What exactly did he want?
What was his true objective?
Their gazes met in the air.
Sparks flew.
Then, Martin smiled, took a deep look at Hunter, and stood up to leave the ward.
When Patricia came out of the bathroom, only Hunter was left in the room. She didn't think much about it and took out her backpack from the wardrobe. "I'm done, let's go!"
Hunter stood up and smoothed out the wrinkles on his clothes, jokingly saying, "I seem to have made Mr. Langley angry just now."
Patricia wondered, "Did you two quarrel just now?"
Hunter laughed, "Not exactly. It should be that I made him angry unilaterally."
"Huh?" Patricia raised her eyebrows in surprise.
Shrugging, Hunter pretended to be helpless. "I told him that I want to pursue you! Then, he got angry and left."
"You? Pursue me?" Patricia burst into laughter as if she had heard the most hilarious thing in the world, clutching her stomach. "He actually believed it?"
Hunter apologized, full of remorse. "Yeah! I didn't expect him to take a joke so seriously! Should I go and explain it to him later so that he doesn't misunderstand?"
Patricia waved her hand, dismissing it. "Forget about him. I have nothing to do with him. Let him think whatever he wants!"
As they spoke, they left the ward shoulder to shoulder.
Just a few steps away, they saw Randy and Martin smiling at them in the corridor.
Patricia's heart sank with a thud.
Soon, her intuition was confirmed.
Randy pounced into her arms, rubbing his little face against her belly, pouting. "Mommy, you are so mean, being with someone else
"Go out for a meal all by yourself, without inviting me and Dad."
Patricia gritted her teeth in frustration and glared fiercely at Martin. He must have done it intentionally.
Knowing that she was going out for dinner with Hunter, he deliberately invited Randy to disrupt their plans.
Last time, their dinner with Hunter was forced to end because of them.
What was Martin up to?
Faced with her silent questioning, Martin had an innocent look on his face. "I accidentally let it slip, and Randy insisted on tagging along. I couldn't stop him."
"Hmph…" Patricia sneered, looking at Randy's attire.
He had already changed his clothes. Was that really an accident?
It was obvious that he was prepared.
Seeing Patricia's refusal, Randy whined, shaking her wrist. "Mommy, take me with you and Daddy! I haven't eaten yet, and I'm really hungry."
Recalling the scene in the hospital room just now, Patricia couldn't imagine everyone sitting together. For the first time, she firmly refused, mustering up the courage, "Randy, Mommy can't take you today. You can eat with Daddy, and I'll be back soon."
Randy pouted unhappily.
Patricia deliberately put on a serious face, rarely stern. "Behave, or Mommy will get angry."
Though Randy had the nickname of being fearless, especially towards little devils, he was particularly afraid of Patricia, especially when she got angry. He immediately backed down.
"Don't be angry, Mommy. Randy will behave! Randy will eat with Daddy in the hospital room today, so Mommy and Uncle Ji can enjoy their meal without worrying about me."
"...??" Martin hadn't expected Randy to switch sides so easily.
He couldn't help but curse inwardly, calling him 'spineless.'
Seeing Randy behaving obediently, Patricia rubbed his little head satisfactorily. "Mommy will be back soon. You have to listen to Daddy, alright?"
"Okay!" Randy nodded vigorously.
After soothing Randy, Patricia glanced at Martin triumphantly and left side by side with Hunter.
As she watched their figures disappear, Martin suddenly clenched his fists, his teeth grinding.
