Chapter 1096 Violet Wanted to Kill Hannah
Violet's eyes were fixed on the tightly closed gate.
Ever since Hannah came home, the gate had always been closed unless someone was entering or leaving. And no matter where or when, Hannah was always accompanied by someone.
Several times Violet had tried to visit Hannah, but Lassie had stopped her. Later, she started sneaking in, hoping to beg Hannah to leave Charles and give him back to her.
But the Langley family wouldn't let her in at all. She couldn't even get through the Langley family's door, let alone see Hannah.
Not only Charles, but the entire Langley family protected Hannah as if she were fragile, carefully guarding her.
The more Violet thought about it, the more hatred filled her heart. Why did everyone like Hannah? What did she lack compared to Hannah?
Not only did Shirley like Hannah, Charles liked Hannah, but even Lassie, who had always doted on Violet the most, talked about Hannah every day and frequently visited Sunshine Manor.
Lassie had completely forgotten about her own daughter. Violet was unwilling to accept it. Why should everything she had worked so hard to obtain be taken away by Hannah?
Jealousy burned in Violet's eyes. Just as she was about to drive away, she saw the gate open, and Hannah ran out, holding her head in her hands, looking very distraught.
Charles followed closely behind, with Quentin and Lisa trailing after him.
Violet recognized them immediately, having seen them at the engagement party when she pretended to be engaged to Charles.
"Hannah, wait for me."
"Hannah, why are you running? I'm your mother; I won't kill you. Stop running."
"Yes, Hannah, I'm your father. Stop running! There are so many bad people outside. What if someone hurts you again? Hannah!"
Hannah was about to stop when she heard Charles's voice. But then she heard Quentin and Lisa's voices, and she ran even faster.
Her head hurt, and she felt so annoyed, as if a gas was running wild inside her, ready to explode at any moment.
"Stop following me and let me have some peace, will you?" she shouted in frustration.
Charles was heartbroken, his eyes red with emotion.
Quentin and Lisa were confused. "We care about you. How can you talk to us like that? We mean well and want to make up for the past. How can you be so ungrateful?"
"Yes! We sincerely want to make amends and hope you can remember us. You're hurting us by acting this way."
Hannah found them incredibly annoying. She was already so fed up with them. Why didn't they have any self-awareness and kept bothering her every day?
Every time she saw them, her mood would worsen. Yet they were so self-righteous, always claiming it was for her own good and that they wanted to make it up to her. She couldn't feel any familial love from them at all.
They clearly didn't truly like her. They genuinely liked Charles. If Charles weren't her boyfriend, Quentin and Lisa wouldn't be trying to please her like this.
Hannah grew more and more irritated, and the more irritated she became, the more her head hurt.
Suddenly, many fragments flashed through her mind, along with Lisa's scolding voice.
"Go wash the clothes for me!"
"Go mop the floor."
"You wretch, it's so late, and you still haven't made dinner. Are you trying to starve us to death?"
"You wretch, you can't even handle such a simple task. Why do I even keep you around?"
"You wretch, your brother is so young. I told you to take care of him, and you let him fall? I think you did it on purpose."
"Your brother likes it, so buy it for him! No money? Then steal it. Do you know how to steal? Do you need me to teach you?"
"Get away from me. Stop hanging around in front of me. Seeing you annoys me."
"Oliver, stay away from her! She's a jinx. If you get close to her, you'll be dragged down."
"Little wretch, little bastard..."
A series of curses flashed through Hannah's mind like movie subtitles. She remembered all her unhappy memories. Her head hurt so much! Her heart hurt so much too!
Hannah's tears fell uncontrollably. Her parents truly didn't love her. From childhood to adulthood, Lisa either beat or scolded her.
At a young age, she had to take on all the household chores. If she didn't do well, Lisa would get angry, scolding and beating her.
Sometimes Oliver would come to protect her, and Lisa, afraid of hurting him, would temporarily let her go.
And Quentin, who claimed to love her, always watched coldly. He would always tell her that Lisa suffered by marrying him and that she should endure it. Then he would hypocritically buy her many things to eat in secret.
Clearly, it was he who made Lisa suffer. Why did he ask her to endure it? She had never felt motherly or fatherly love from them. She didn't even know what it felt like to be loved by parents.
Later, she started working to earn money. Not only did she have to earn her own tuition, but she also had to support the family.
Her childhood memories were a permanent wound buried deep in her heart. If she could, she wouldn't want to remember them at all. But why did they force her? Why did they have to make her remember?
She hated them, resented them, and didn't want to see them again. Driven by these emotions, Hannah ran faster and faster, putting more distance between herself and them.
Charles's heart was in his throat. Seeing Hannah about to disappear, a red car suddenly sped out from the roadside, showing no signs of slowing down or stopping.
The car headed straight for Hannah. Its target was clear; it was aiming for Hannah.
"Hannah!" Charles screamed in anguish, wanting to rush over and save Hannah, but it was too late. He watched helplessly as Hannah was hit by the car and thrown into the air, her body forming an arc before crashing to the ground.
Time seemed to stop, and even the air felt frozen.
"Hannah!" Charles, Quentin, and Lisa all witnessed the scene and screamed simultaneously.
The red car, after hitting Hannah, accelerated and fled the scene as quickly as possible.
Charles watched in horror as Hannah was hit and thrown into the air, her head smashing against a roadside rock, rolling twice before finally stopping at his feet. His entire body felt frozen.
Seeing Hannah lying in a pool of blood, he was in shock, standing there dumbfounded, momentarily forgetting to call an ambulance.
Lisa was so scared that her legs trembled, and she collapsed to the ground. Thinking about the wealth and luxury slipping away, she felt utterly hopeless.
Quentin was the first to react. With trembling hands, he took out his phone and called for an ambulance.
