Chapter 685 Clues Found
His words left everyone present stunned.
The forensic medicine pondered seriously for a moment, visualizing the scene in his mind, and then nodded thoughtfully, saying, "The possibility you mentioned is quite high. However..."
Pausing for a moment, he emphasized. "But these are all your speculations! And as I mentioned earlier, the body had been in the water for too long, washing away all evidence. If, as you suggest, the deceased was forcibly drowned by having his head held underwater until he suffocated, and his nails also scratched the murderer's hand or arm in the struggle. If the deceased had not been dead for long or had not been in the water for so long, we might have been able to identify the murderer through DNA. Unfortunately, these are all ifs."
Sebastian thought for a moment and asked, "I once encountered a very cunning murderer! After killing someone, he cleaned up the scene very thoroughly, then threw the body into the home of my client, making it look like the first crime scene. Later, I saw the police spraying something on the floor of the murderer's house, and all the blood on the floor became visible."
The forensic medicine was taken aback by what Sebastian said. "What do you mean?"
Sebastian knew he understood and nodded vigorously. "Yes, that's what I mean! If we spray that substance on Billy’s hands, can we determine if he scratched the murderer in a struggle before his death?"
The forensic medicine was enlightened by his words.
"Yes, that can indeed be done!"
Sebastian was excited by this discovery. "If we can prove that he was drowned by someone holding him underwater, then we can rule out the conclusion that he was pushed into the river by Patricia."
Maximilian and Carol were both stunned.
Yes!
If Billy was drowned by someone holding him underwater.
Then wouldn't that clear Patricia of the blame?
Just when everyone thought they had finally made a breakthrough, the forensic medicine's next words extinguished the hope they had just ignited.
"I have heard of the substance you mentioned, but we currently do not have it in Country D."
The words of the forensic expert left the them stunned.
The forensic medicine said, "So, for now, we cannot use the method you suggested. I'm sorry."
Sebastian twitched his mouth, thought for a while, and then said, "What if I can get that substance?"
The forensic medicine's eyes lit up instantly.
"That would be better!"
If they could obtain that new type of substance, they could analyze it, determine its components, and then develop something similar based on those components. This would be a significant advancement for both the police station and their forensic medicine.
Seeing her quick agreement, Sebastian said, "Alright, give me two days, and I will find a way to get it."
The forensic medicine nodded and continued with the autopsy.
The progress went smoothly after that.
After the examination was completed, Maximilian smoothly took a copy of the data.
As everyone was about to leave, Sebastian suddenly remembered something and abruptly stopped in his tracks.
He was walking in the front, but now that he had stopped, Maximilian, Carol, the forensic medicine, and the forensic assistant following behind him also came to a halt.
"What's wrong?" Maximilian asked, puzzled.
Sebastian turned around, pondered for a moment, organized his thoughts, and said to the forensic medicine, "Check if there is any undigested water in his stomach."
Maximilian and Carol were confused.
The forensic medicine wondered. "Why?"
Sebastian explained, "I suddenly have a bold idea; I'm not sure if it's right! Anyway, first, analyze the water in his stomach to see if it's water from the Neon Bridge."
If Billy was indeed deliberately murdered, and his nails scratched the murderer's skin.
Then, the Neon Bridge might not be the first crime scene.
And if the water in Billy's stomach was ingested while drowning.
Then, it was highly likely that the water in his stomach was not the water from the Neon Bridge
If this could be detected, it would provide another opportunity to clear Patricia's name.
Although many questions remained unanswered, based on his lawyer's intuition and insight, this possibility was quite high.
Maximilian seemed to understand his meaning and looked at Carol.
Carol received the message conveyed by his eyes and said to the forensic medicine, "Let's do as he says!"
The forensic medicine nodded. "Alright!"
Sebastian eagerly asked, "How long will it take to get the results?"
The forensic medicine smiled, "It will be quick, as early as tonight or at the latest tomorrow morning!"
Sebastian said, "Thank you! If there are results, please inform Carol as soon as possible."
The forensic medicine smiled, "No problem! It's my duty."
After parting ways with the forensic medicine, Maximilian, and Sebastian escorted Carol to the door. Seeing Carol looking exhausted, Maximilian couldn't help but feel concerned. "You look really bad. Are you feeling alright?"
Carol couldn't help but touch her face and smiled bitterly, "There have been so much happening at home recently. How could i possibly look good?"
After checking that she wasn't running a fever, Maximilian said, "It's late. Let me take you back to rest!"
Carol shook her head. "I'm worried about my parents. I have to go to the hospital to take care of them."
Maximilian said, with a hint of anger, "The hospital has butler! Listen to me, go back and rest tonight, and then go to the hospital to take care of them tomorrow. You're the only one left at the Hill family now. What if something happens to youl?"
Carol knew that Maximilian had always been very caring towards her.
But she had never seen such a tender and caring expression on his face before, which warmed her heart slightly, so she nodded.
Maximilian, still concerned, drove her car and personally escorted her to the doorstep.
"Call me anytime if there's anything!"
Carol obediently nodded.
Maximilian, fearing she might push herself too hard, still couldn't rest assured, so she reminded her. "Remember, make sure to call me! Billy is gone. I'm your brother! Don't force yourself if you're not feeling well!"
Carol's eyes welled up again, and she felt a mix of sadness and bitterness. She sniffed hard. "I know! Be safe on your way back!"
"Okay!" Maximilian affectionately ruffled her head. "I'll watch you go inside before I leave!"
"Alright."
Carol obediently nodded, took one last look at him with reluctance, then opened the door and went inside.
Maximilian watched Carol's figure disappear from view before getting into the black sedan that had been following behind him all along.
On the way back to the hotel, Maximilian asked anxiously, "Do you have a way to get that new type of substance?"
Sebastian nodded. "I've already contacted my friends in Country Y. They said they can get it and ship it over. It should arrive by this time tomorrow at the latest."
Upon hearing this, Maximilian's eyes finally lit up with a glimmer of hope.
"That's great! If we can prove that Billy scratched the murderer before his death, then Patricia can be exonerated!"
Sebastian nodded. "Let's hope we can can help clear Patricia's name—"
