Chapter 816 The Pleasure of Revenge

After chowin' down, the two of 'em bounced.

Everyone's eyes were glued to 'em.

The second they stepped outta the cafeteria, the place lit up like a beehive.

"Did ya see that? She almost ate it, and Charles caught her!"

"Yeah! I've been here five years, and it's the first time I've seen Charles be so chill with someone! And that someone’s a chick."

"These past few years, Charles hasn't had any drama with women. Everyone was wonderin' if he swung the other way."

"Right! I thought he was into dudes too! Didn't everyone say he and Wyatt were a thing? He treats Wyatt like gold around here."

"Now it looks like Charles is straight, and he’s into women."

"I just hit up the HR director, and Hannah's a journalism major. Didn't Charles just go to that lecture at D University? I thought it was weird 'cause Charles never goes to stuff like that. Maybe it was 'cause of Hannah?"

"Who the heck is this Hannah? She got Charles wrapped around her finger."

The chatter got louder.

Everyone was tryin' to figure out what was goin' on between Hannah and Charles.

After lunch, Charles headed back to his office, and Hannah went back to her desk.

As soon as Hannah sat down, her phone blew up with a ton of Facebook friend requests.

She was floored lookin' at all those requests.

They were all from folks at IntelliMerge Technologies.

From PR.

From HR.

From advertising.

People from all over the place.

All people she didn't know.

What the heck was goin' on? Why were so many people suddenly addin' her?

Even though she had no clue why they were addin' her or how they got her Facebook, she accepted the requests to be polite.

Then everyone started hittin' her up.

[Hannah, hey!]

[Hannah, hi, I'm from PR. Got time tonight? Our department wants to take you out to dinner and get to know ya.]

[Hannah, hey, I'm from HR. We met when you were doin' your paperwork. Remember? Got time this weekend? Let's go shoppin'.]

[Hannah, hi! I'm from IT. When you free? I got a new lipstick that just dropped, and I wanna give it to ya.]

Hannah scrolled through the messages.

She was totally floored.

Did they wanna be friends with her? Why?

She didn't know any of 'em.

They were so hyped, and there were so many messages that Hannah didn't know what to do. She scratched her head and stared at her Facebook screen, totally lost.

Just then, the elevator doors opened.

Wyatt walked out, gave her a long look as he passed the secretary's desk, and then went into the CEO's office.

Hannah blinked.

What was up with Wyatt's look just now?

Why did it feel kinda weird?

In the CEO's office, Charles was glued to his laptop, not even glancing up. "What's up?" he asked.

Wyatt, looking all serious, handed his phone to Charles. "Charles, check this out!"

Charles, noticing Wyatt's hesitation, shot him a puzzled look before taking the phone. After seeing what was on it, he didn't blow up; instead, he let out a helpless chuckle.

Charles grinned, "How long has it been, and the whole company already knows? Didn't realize my employees were such gossip pros."

Wyatt was bracing for a meltdown, but Charles's reaction threw him off. "You're not mad?"

Charles handed the phone back, still smiling. "What's there to be mad about?"

So, was Wyatt just overthinking it?

Charles turned his attention back to his screen and said calmly, "But this could mess with Hannah's rep! Shut down all the info, inside and out! And put out a statement telling everyone to zip it."

So, Charles meant...

If it weren't for Hannah's reputation, he wouldn't give a damn?

Wyatt always thought Charles was all about Hannah because of Stella. But now, it seemed way more complicated.

Charles really did treat Hannah differently.

Seeing Wyatt just standing there, Charles raised an eyebrow. "What? Got any questions?"

Wyatt snapped out of it. "Nope! I'll get right on it!"

Wyatt didn't dare ask more and quickly left.

Soon, all the pics and messages about Charles and Hannah vanished from the employee group.

Even the leaked info was gone.

No one could mention their names in the group anymore.

Any related chats got auto-blocked.

Everyone knew this was Charles's order, so no one dared to talk about Charles and Hannah in the group anymore.

They only dared to gossip in private.

On the surface, it looked like the storm had passed.

But because of Charles's order, everyone was even more convinced something was up between them.

In the afternoon, while Hannah was still getting the hang of her work, Gordon nervously walked over with two blue folders.

Gordon said, "Hannah."

Hannah looked up, and her face instantly darkened when she saw it was Gordon.

Hannah asked, "Gordon, what do you want?"

Gordon awkwardly handed the files to Hannah, trying to butter her up. "Uh, these two docs need Charles's sign-off. Can you let him know for me?"

Hannah raised an eyebrow, cold as ice. "Gordon, you asking me for a favor?"

Gordon's smile wavered, but he kept trying to please her. "Yeah, I'm asking for your help, Hannah. Please let him know."

Hannah sneered. For the first time, she felt the sweet taste of payback.

She was thrilled! She never thought she'd see Gordon in such a spot.
