Chapter 877 Charles Learns That Hannah Has Broken Up

After dinner, it was pitch black outside.

Max saw Charles and Randy to the door.

Max was like, "You guys are something else. I told you to crash at my place for the night, but nah, you wouldn't listen! Randy and I haven't caught up in ages."

Charles smirked, "Nah, we gotta visit Kaleb tomorrow."

Kaleb, being older and all about that solo life, didn't wanna shack up with Max. So, he kept living it up in his suburban villa.

Patricia would swing by now and then to drag him to Sunset Bay for a bit.

They wanted him to settle in Sunset Bay for easier care.

But he was like, "Nope," insisting on living solo.

He said, at his age, he didn't have many years left, and if he died abroad, it would be like dying in a foreign land. As a native of Country D, he naturally wanted to die in his homeland.

Patricia had no choice but to let him be.

Even so, she still visited him a lot.

Max was like, "I'll roll with you guys tomorrow! Haven't seen Kaleb in two days; he's probably mad at me again."

Charles couldn't help but laugh, "The older he gets, the weirder his temper!"

"Exactly!" Max laughed and gave Charles a friendly slap on the shoulder.

Seeing that Charles and Randy were about to bounce, Stella nudged Hannah forward, "Charles, can you take Hannah home for me? It's late, and it's not safe for her to go back alone."

Charles was about to agree when Hannah, looking down, said, "No need, I can grab a cab home by myself."

Hearing that, Charles swallowed his response and changed his tone, "Someone's coming to pick her up. Since that's the case, we're out."

No matter where Hannah went, Austin would follow.

Today was no different; he’d definitely come to pick her up.

Since he decided to completely forget about her and not get tangled up in her and Austin's drama, he couldn't let himself soften.

Getting involved would just make things messier.

Hannah had just said it to be polite, not expecting Charles to respond that way. She bit her lower lip, tears welling up in her eyes.

She thought he would take her home.

He would never have let her go back alone before.

Maybe it was because he had a girlfriend now and wanted to avoid any drama!

"Charles, how could you..." Stella was fuming and was about to speak when Hannah stopped her.

After watching Charles and Randy walk away, Hannah said, "It's still early; I can go back by myself! No need to trouble Mr. Watson."

Stella's chest heaved with anger, "Go back? I'll drive you home! It's a long way from here to your place, and it's not easy to get a cab! Come on, let's hit the garage."

Stella dragged Hannah to the garage.

The moment she got in the car, Hannah couldn't hold back her tears anymore.

Stella, while steering, said, "Don't cry. No matter what, I'll stand up for you!"

It was really infuriating.

They had finally managed to get Hannah to break up with Austin.

And now this. Charles was so cold to Hannah.

He was breaking Hannah's heart!

Hannah shook her head, "No need! He probably wants to avoid suspicion because of his girlfriend. Besides, he never said he liked me! It was always just me liking him."

Stella exclaimed, "Who said Charles doesn't like you!"

Hannah looked at her seriously and asked, "Did he tell you himself that he likes me? That he wants to be with me?"

Stella was speechless.

Right! Even though she knew Charles liked Hannah.

But Charles had never admitted it himself, nor said he wanted to be with her.

Seeing her reaction, Hannah's heart sank bit by bit, then completely despaired.

Hannah stated, "Stella, don't interfere in our matters. I have things on my mind; let us handle it ourselves!"

Stella asked nervously, "What are you going to do? Your internship is almost over! If you don't confess in the last week, it'll be too late."

Hannah wiped her tears and nodded lightly, "I know! I'll handle it!"

Seeing her like this, Stella felt heartbroken, "Alright! But you need to hurry, don't drag it out any longer, or it'll be too late."

Hannah nodded again, "I know."

Stella sighed deeply, knowing that matters of the heart had to be resolved by the people involved. While she could help to some extent, they had to take the most crucial step themselves.

Worried about Hannah, Stella stayed with her after dropping her off at her apartment.

Hannah stood on the balcony, the breeze lifting her clothes and hair.

She looked down at her phone.

The screen was on Charles's name.

She had previously saved his number with the name Mr. Watson.

After realizing she loved him, she changed it to Charles.

She had so much to say to him.

Her finger hovered over the call button for a long time, but she couldn't muster the courage to dial.

She didn't know how to start.

She didn't have the courage to confess her feelings to him.

He had a girlfriend now, didn't he?

Little did she know, on the other side, Charles was sitting on the couch. After plugging in his phone to charge, it took a few minutes to turn on.

Since he had turned off his phone last time, he hadn't turned it back on, not even realizing it had run out of battery.

He had left the charger at home.

So now he finally found a charger and plugged in his phone.

As soon as the phone turned on, numerous Facebook messages popped up, along with several missed calls.

He first checked the missed calls.

All from Stella.

From over a month ago.

The Facebook messages were all from Stella too.

Several messages, the last one dated yesterday.

Charles patiently scrolled through them from the bottom up.

[Charles, are you guys still not done?]

[Charles, when are you coming back!]

[Charles, when are you coming back to Country D? I miss you, and Hannah misses you too.]

[Charles, why aren't you replying to my messages?]

[Charles, are you really dating that actress Bethany? Didn't you say you liked Hannah? Why are you interested in someone else?]

[Charles, I'm begging you, please reply to me, okay?]

[Charles, I'm serious, Hannah really broke up with Austin.]

Seeing this message, Charles was shocked. His fingers continued to scroll up.

[Charles, Hannah told me herself that she likes you. She's single now, go after her!]

[Charles, Hannah and Austin broke up! This is your chance!]

Charles was stunned.

He looked at the date of the first message.

So, Hannah had broken up with Austin over a month ago?

Charles was trembling with excitement. Without any hesitation, he pulled his phone from the charger, grabbed the car keys from the coffee table, and dashed out.
