Chapter 837 DNA Test Results
Austin's hair showed up the next day.
While Wyatt and Hannah were buried in paperwork, he snuck a strand of her hair.
Hannah felt a tiny pinch, rubbed her head, and shrugged it off.
After they wrapped up with the documents, Charles handed Wyatt two hair samples, "Get these tested for DNA."
Once the DNA results are in, they'll know if Hannah is Violet. If not, he can stop stressing.
If she is, then Austin's involved.
He needs to figure this out.
Wyatt, puzzled, asked, "Mr. Watson, you think Hannah might be Violet?"
Hannah didn't catch it, but Wyatt did.
He saw Charles yank a hair from Hannah.
Charles replied, "I'm not sure!"
Over the years, he'd found many girls who looked like Violet.
At first, he got hyped and tested each one.
But later, he tested less often.
Still, he wanted to test Hannah's DNA.
Wyatt didn't push further, took the samples, and left after checking the tasks.
The examiner gave him the pickup time, and he bounced.
This was routine for years.
He didn't see anything off.
What they didn't know was that as soon as Charles got the samples, Austin got a call.
"Last night, Carter sent a hair sample to Country D! They must be onto something! By now, the sample should be with Charles."
Austin's eyes narrowed.
Austin asked, "Carter sent a sample to Country D?"
Could Charles be suspecting Hannah's identity?
The caller said anxiously, "Yeah! I just found out and told you ASAP! You need to act fast. If the DNA results come out, all your work over the years is toast. Plus, Carter will flip out for hiding his daughter and cut ties with you."
Austin asked cautiously, "How do you know this?"
The caller said, "Don't worry about that, but it's true, believe it or not! If Violet's found, you're screwed."
Austin replied, "Got it! I won't let that happen."
Austin quickly ended the call and got moving.
He'd planned for so long and couldn't let it unravel.
He'd underestimated Charles.
He'd set everything up perfectly, yet Charles still suspected Hannah.
He couldn't let him find out Hannah's identity.
Three hours later, Wyatt picked up the results and handed them to Charles.
Charles didn't think much of it because he subconsciously believed Hannah wasn't Violet.
Besides their faces, they had nothing in common.
The DNA test was just to confirm it.
So, when Wyatt came back with the results, he took them slowly, waved Wyatt off, and opened the folder.
He skipped the data analysis and went straight to the last page.
The kinship match was 0.001%.
Just as he expected.
Even though he anticipated it, he couldn't hide his disappointment.
Hannah wasn't Violet.
Man, if only she were Violet.
Lost in his thoughts, Charles didn't even realize how much Hannah had started to mean to him. Violet was fading from his mind, replaced more and more by Hannah.
Without even noticing, Hannah had carved out a spot in his heart.
Charles tossed the DNA test report into his office drawer, where a bunch of other reports were already stashed.
As the workday was winding down, Stella showed up just in time, stopping Hannah and Charles from leaving by hooking an arm around each of them.
Stella's eyes sparkled as she grinned, "Hey, tomorrow's the weekend! Got any plans? How about we go out and have some fun?"
Charles asked, "Fun? Where to?"
Usually, his weekends were spent working overtime or chilling at home. Being a single guy with no close friends around, he didn't have much going on.
Stella beamed, "Have you heard about the new resort at Crystal Blue Lake? How about we go there for a little getaway?"
Hannah asked, "Why the sudden urge for a vacation?"
Stella replied, "I'm on break, and it's too boring to stay home alone! I can't go shopping every day! I just heard about the new resort and thought it would be fun."
Truth be told, she wasn't really into the resort. She was more interested in playing matchmaker for Charles and Hannah. Now was the perfect time for them to get closer, and she had to seize the moment.
Hannah asked, "Just the three of us?"
Stella said, "Of course not! My parents are coming too!"
If her parents ended up bailing, it wouldn't be her fault. She had given them the heads-up, after all.
Hannah hesitated, "I need to check first! I'll let you know tonight, okay?"
She really wanted to go. It was rare to get a break. If Austin were still in Country H doing his academic stuff, she would've said yes without a second thought. But now that he was back, she had to ask him first.
Stella, in a no-nonsense tone, said, "Nope, you have to go! I'm telling you, if you don't go, I'll break up with you."
Such a rare chance, she couldn't let it slip!
Hannah knew she was joking and smiled, "Alright, I'll try my best!"
Stella immediately turned to Charles and asked, "Charles, what about you? You got nothing going on anyway. Let's go together!"
Charles instinctively glanced at Hannah, his eyes flickering, "Okay! Let me know once you set up the itinerary."
Stella grinned, "Awesome! Let's grab dinner together, then head home to pack."
With that, she dragged the two of them into the elevator.
On the way down, Stella kept chatting about her plans.
"We'll go to Starlight Bistro across the street from the office! I've already booked a table!"
The three of them walked out of the building.
But they froze when they saw the Bentley parked across the street.
Hannah already felt guilty about sneaking out for a late-night snack with Charles last night. Seeing Austin there to pick her up from work, she quickly pulled her arm out of Stella's.
Hannah said, "I can't join you for dinner! You guys go ahead!"
Without waiting for their response, she dashed across the street and hopped into the passenger seat of the Bentley.
Austin didn't even show his face, not even rolling down the window.
