Chapter 1085 Austin Tested Hannah
Hannah's reaction left everyone present stunned.
Hannah had clearly lost her memory and didn't remember anything, so how could she remember Austin and call him so affectionately?
Not to mention everyone else, even Austin was taken aback, a sudden panic rising in his heart.
Because Hannah never called him Aus. Even when they almost got married, the most intimate she ever called him was Austin; everyone called him Austin.
Aus was Evelyn's exclusive nickname for him. Back then, after hypnotizing Hannah, Tina implanted the memory that Austin was her fiancé, and this nickname was because he was jealous of Charles, deliberately making her call him so affectionately.
At first, Hannah couldn't change her way of addressing him. Tina had to put in a lot of effort to finally get her to call him Aus.
And even then, Hannah didn't call him Aus every time they met; sometimes, she would habitually call him Austin.
The last time he went to the hospital to see Hannah, trying to test how much she remembered, Hannah happened to be hypnotized by Tina and fell asleep.
Today was their first official meeting after finding Hannah. Austin didn't expect a problem right from the first glance.
He also didn't expect that even though Tina had erased all of Hannah's memories of him, Hannah still recognized him.
Could it be that Tina's hypnosis had failed? Or perhaps, the repeated forced implanting of his memory into Hannah's brain had caused a deviation when erasing her memories? A clear trace of panic flashed in Austin's eyes.
After a moment of silence in the living room, Fannie was the first to break the silence, exclaiming, "Hannah, you still recognize Austin?"
Clearly, Hannah had forgotten everyone else, but she still remembered Austin. Did this mean that Hannah still had feelings for him? She couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for Charles.
Patricia was also worried. She had known before that Hannah used to be Austin's girlfriend. Could it be that Hannah remembered her past with Austin? What about Charles then? Was he going to lose his love again?
The last time Hannah disappeared, he almost lost half his life. If Hannah was taken away by Austin again, wouldn't he lose his entire life?
Charles squinted his eyes, his gaze shifting back and forth between Austin and Hannah. Although he was a bit jealous, he was more puzzled.
He remembered that Hannah used to call Austin by his name directly! When did she ever call Austin Aus? Charles felt something was off, but he couldn't piece it together for the moment.
Hannah looked at Austin, as if she had lost her soul. She slowly approached Austin step by step. Her eyes held no deep affection or excitement, only confusion and emptiness.
She stood beside Austin, just muttering repeatedly, "Aus, Aus, Aus."
Austin felt like he was going crazy. He had been on edge for so long, and in the end, he couldn't escape.
Austin didn't know how much Hannah remembered, so to avoid alarming her, he had to pretend to be calm, looking at Hannah gently. "Hannah, do you remember me?"
As he spoke, he reached out to hold Hannah's hand. Charles's face instantly darkened.
Everyone's expressions changed as well. Especially Patricia and Martin, their faces were worse than ever.
Even though Austin was Carter's son, he couldn't openly hold Hannah's hand. It was an insult to Charles.
Just as they were about to step in to stop him, Charles was a step ahead, pulling Hannah into his arms. "Austin, what are you doing?"
Austin sneaked a glance at Hannah, seeing only confusion in her eyes, no other emotions, his courage grew a bit. Could it be that Tina's hypnosis was still effective? Maybe Hannah hadn't completely remembered him?
To confirm his suspicion, Austin said confidently, "Charles, you misunderstood, I was just excited to see that Hannah remembered me."
Then, he looked at Hannah in Charles's arms, pretending to be excited. "Hannah, do you remember me? I'm Austin! Three years ago, we were engaged and almost got married."
Charles's brows furrowed tightly, a trace of displeasure flashing in his eyes. Patricia and Martin also frowned in displeasure.
Lassie also felt that Austin's words were inappropriate at this moment, quickly stepping forward to pull him. "Austin, that's enough, it's all in the past, why bring it up again?"
But Austin didn't care. "Mom! I didn't mean anything else, I just want to help Hannah regain her memory! What if she really remembers me? That would be a good thing!"
"But..." Lassie wanted to say more, but Austin had already turned to Hannah again. "Hannah, you remember me, right?"
Hearing this, Hannah looked up at him from Charles's arms. She thought carefully, sometimes shaking her head, sometimes nodding. It seemed like she remembered, but also didn't.
Even she didn't know how to answer. Every time she remembered scattered fragments with Charles, she could recount them and always remember the content. But her memories of Austin were very vague, as if covered with a veil.
She wanted to peel it away, but couldn't, and when she tried harder, a sharp pain would shoot through her temples, forcing her to stop thinking.
Hannah instinctively used her hand to hit her temples, trying to alleviate the pain.
Noticing her discomfort, Charles immediately held her hand, whispering in her ear, "If you can't remember, don't force yourself! Let's not think about it."
Hannah wanted to listen to him and not think about it. But she couldn't control herself.
Those scattered fragments flooded her mind. But she couldn't see them clearly, and she couldn't help but want to see them more clearly. So, the vicious cycle continued, her headache not only not alleviating but worsening.
Charles noticed her condition worsening, gave Austin a deep look, then bent down to pick her up, striding outside.
Everyone hurriedly followed. Patricia asked, "Charles, where are you taking Hannah?"
Shirley anxiously asked, "How is Hannah? Is she sick?"
"She has a headache, I'm taking her to the hospital!" With that, Charles went into the garage, got into one of the cars, and drove off.
Watching the car disappear, Austin squinted his eyes, his gaze dark and cold, like that of a lurking venomous snake.
Something was wrong with Hannah. But he couldn't pinpoint what was wrong, he knew only Tina could explain all his doubts. But she was now locked up, and he didn't dare to see her.
If Charles found out he knew Tina, all his secrets would be exposed. How should he solve the current predicament?
