Chapter 49 Monitoring Your Mommy for Me
Meanwhile, at Riverside Apartments.
Charles had been monitoring the online activities closely.
Once he confirmed that all information about Fannie had been deleted, he felt relieved and prepared to take a bath and sleep.
Jade grinned playfully, "You're something, kid. Truly a hidden expert. You caused a direct drop of twenty points in Langley Group's stock price. Do you know what twenty points means?"
Charles snorted and sneered, "He deserved it. Who told him to bully Mommy? I will not let him get away with it."
"He definitely deserves a lesson! Unfortunately, the Thompson Group, his rival company, took great advantage of it! Mr. Thompson from the Thompson Group is even worse than Martin! It's hard to fathom."
"The Langley Group?" Charles frowned and immediately checked the Thompson Group's stock price.
Sure enough, after Langley Group's stock price plummeted, the Thompson Group's stock price skyrocketed.
It was obvious to Charles that this increase was abnormal. Someone had clearly tampered with it.
"It seems like the Thompson Group is planning to seize this opportunity and make a big profit."
Jade pouted, "That's for sure! The Thompson Group, I don't know where they came from, burst onto the scene two years ago and developed rapidly. They have been opposing the Langley Group at every turn. Unfortunately, the Langley Group is strong, particularly in IC chip development."
The Thompson Group had backed down. But when today, the Langley Group's product launch went wrong, and they immediately announced that they will hold their own product launch tomorrow.
What's the difference between this and taking advantage of a crisis? What a despicable person!
Charles smirked, his young face suddenly turned cold and indifferent. "Thinking he can undermine my dad and climb up? He's daydreaming! Only I can intimidate my dad, no one else."
As he spoke, he exuded dominance, displaying a maturity beyond his years. Even Jade was stunned by him.
Charles glanced at Fannie, who was already sleeping from exhaustion, and considerately said, "Jade, you should go to sleep! I'll sleep after I have dealt with the Thompson Group!"
Upon hearing this, Jade's eyes sparkled.
"You're going to deal with the Thompson Group? How do you plan on doing it?"
Charles scornfully brushed her off.
"It's going to be really easy to handle them. A minor tweak to the chip they recently released would be sufficient to undermine all their efforts. A chip malfunction would cause far more chaos than my dad's alleged affair."
"You can actually do that?" Jade couldn't believe it.
Charles raised an eyebrow and remarked, "Doesn’t require a high level of technical skill?"
Jade felt insulted and teased, letting out a deliberate yawn, before turning away in annoyance.
"It's late. I'm going to my room to sleep!"
Once she was gone, Charles sat in front of the computer, stretched his neck, flexed his muscles, and rapidly typed on the keyboard.
*****
The next morning.
A heavy atmosphere surrounded the entire dining room.
Martin seemed to be enveloped in an icy aura, his handsome face darkened, his lips pressed tightly, emitting an aura that kept others at a distance.
Patricia remained calmed and unruffled, saying, "Randy's test results are out. Unless something unexpected occurs, the first surgery should be scheduled for tomorrow morning at 8 o'clock."
Without waiting for him to speak, Patricia continued, "You are Randy's legal guardian, so the consent form for the surgery requires your signature. If you're busy with work, you can leave after signing."
Martin's face grew even darker, full of gloom.
"As a father, do you think I can leave when it's my son's surgery?"
Patricia didn't understand his meaning and explained, "Randy is my son. I will do everything in my power. Rest assured."
Martin's hand holding the fork tightened suddenly, his knuckles turning slightly white due to excessive force. After a while, he forcefully suppressed his anger and managed to squeeze out a sentence from between his teeth, "Patricia, do you think I'm the kind of person who would abandon his son for the sake of work?"
"Isn't that the case?" Patricia replied confidently.
After all, five years ago, he did abandon them, mother and son, for Debbie's sake. She never expected that he had this perception of himself all along.
Martin's eyes darkened, and a surge of anger rose in his chest.
Seeing the situation spiraling out of control, Randy couldn't tolerate it any longer and spoke up, "Mom, Dad, can you please stop arguing? I don't like it when you argue."
Patricia and Martin both froze, only then remembering Randy beside them, and they both looked at him.
Randy had a stern expression, his eyes dull and a displeased look on his face.
“Have you both already forgotten what you promised me?"
Patricia sighed in frustration, rubbing her face wearily. For some reason, every time she was with Martin, her emotions would unintentionally turn bad.
"Randy, I wasn't arguing with your dad, we were simply discussing your surgery for tomorrow! Your dad's company is facing some issues, and I genuinely care about him. I wish he can concentrate on handling the company's affairs."
"......??" Martin's mouth twitched involuntarily, secretly lamenting in his heart that this woman was really good at fabricating stories.
Randy blinked innocently at her, "Is it true?"
Patricia smiled and said, "Of course it's true, I would never lie to you."
Without hesitation, Randy chose to believe her words.
After having breakfast, Martin drove Patricia and Randy to the hospital. Martin was driving, while Patricia and Randy sat in the back seat.
Suddenly, Patricia's phone made a 'ding' sound, indicating a new message.
It was a voice message from Hunter.
Without much thought, Patricia opened the voice message.
"Patricia, did you forget about our appointment? I've been waiting for your message. When do you have time? Let's meet! It's been so long, and I've really missed you."
Hearing a man's voice, Martin's hand on the steering wheel tightened suddenly. He felt very jealous.
Thinking about the last time he accidentally injured him, he thought that it was only right to invite him to dinner and apologize.
After a moment of consideration, without hesitation, Patricia replied with a text message, "Sorry, I've been busy lately and forgot! Do you have time for lunch today? I'm free."
Hunter immediately replied with a text message, "Sure, I have time."
"11:30 am, Basque Taste, Room 001, see you there."
"OK!"
Martin calmly observed her every move through the rearview mirror, his hawk-like eyes filled with a frosty haze.
After dropping off Patricia and Randy at the hospital room, and taking advantage of the time Patricia went on her rounds, Martin immediately grabbed Randy and said, "Randy, do me a favor."
Randy readily agreed, "Sure! What do you need me to do?"
Martin anxiously glanced at the door and purposefully lowered his voice, saying, "Throughout the day, no matter where your mom goes, stay close to her, and don’t leave her side."
Randy blinked, perplexed, "Why?"
"?" Martin was like a cunning old fox, leading him step by step. "Do you want Mommy to marry someone else and have a little brother or sister from another man?"
Randy immediately shook his head excitedly, "No! I want Daddy and Mommy to be together."
Martin smiled contentedly, "If you don't want Mommy to marry someone else, then stick to her like glue! Remember, don't say it was Daddy's idea! When Mommy asks, say you can't bear to leave her and want to stay with her."
Finally, fearing he didn't understand, Martin asked again, "Understand?"
Randy instantly understood and made an 'OK' gesture, "No problem, I got this."
Martin didn't notice the underlying meaning in his words and happily patted his little head, "Daddy is going to the company first. If you need anything, call me or Alan."
"Okay! Daddy, be careful on the way!" Randy smiled and waved goodbye to Martin.
"Remember, don't let Daddy's words slip!" Martin reminded him again before leaving.
Randy patted his chest and assured, "Daddy, rest assured, I'll handle it."
With his assurance, Martin finally felt at ease leaving.
Randy lived up to Martin's expectations and truly stuck to Patricia's side, even when fetching water, he held onto Patricia's hand.
Patricia didn't think much of it and simply believed it was due to his insecurity.
Soon, it was time to meet Hunter. Patricia didn't wait for Randy to speak and took the initiative, "Randy, Mommy is going out for lunch with a friend, do you want to come?"
Randy nodded eagerly, "Yes, yes, I'll go!"
Patricia encouraged with a smile, "alright then, quickly change your clothes and we’ll go!"
"Okay!"
Randy hopped off the bed, took off his hospital gown, and put on a handsome denim jacket and black sweatpants. He held Patricia's hand and happily left.
