Chapter 1187 Resolve Misunderstanding, Clear Up Grievances
"But..." Oliver was still trying to convince Hannah to let Quentin and Lisa go.
Hannah cut him off before he could finish. "Do you know? Not long ago, I was in a car accident and lost a lot of blood. I needed a transfusion urgently! They already suspected Lassie was my biological mother, but when the nurse said direct relatives couldn't donate blood, they still didn't come clean. I almost didn't make it out of the emergency room because of them.
They're selfish and only think about themselves! People like them need to be punished! I'm doing this for you! You don't want them causing you trouble in the future, do you?"
Oliver seemed to understand, grabbing Hannah's hand tightly. "So, how long will they be sentenced?"
Hannah saw he was listening. "I talked to a lawyer. According to the laws here, they could get up to three years! After that, they can still live their lives!"
Oliver's eyes reddened as he listened to Hannah.
He hugged her tightly, sobbing, "Hannah, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been swayed by others! That person said she wouldn't hurt you, just punish you a little, and I believed her!
I'm sorry. I was so stupid to fall for it! You've been so good to me, and yet I conspired with others to harm you!"
Hannah hugged him back, gently patting his back. "I don't blame you! I know you were deceived!"
Oliver cried even harder. "Mom and Dad did make mistakes, and they should be punished! Hannah, I don't blame you anymore. Let's pretend this never happened and continue being siblings, okay?"
Hannah nodded firmly. "Silly boy, I've never blamed you! You'll always be my dear brother."
Oliver let go of Hannah, explaining excitedly, "I don't even know how it happened! Suddenly, a woman came to me, saying you weren't my real sister and that you had imprisoned my parents!
At first, I didn't believe her! We've lived together for so long; how could you not be my sister? If you weren't my sister, who else could you be?
Then she showed me photos of Mom and Dad locked up in a warehouse, looking miserable. There were also pictures of Charles, Charles' parents, Austin, and many people I didn't recognize!
So I believed her!
She said you wanted to kill Mom and Dad, and if I helped them, I could save them!
She promised me she wouldn't hurt you; their goal was just to rescue Austin!
So I agreed to their demands!
I didn't know there was so much going on! I didn't know what Mom and Dad had done to you! If I had known, I wouldn't have helped her!
Hannah, I'm sorry, I'm sorry to Charles. I caused you so much trouble!"
The more he spoke, the more guilty he felt, wishing he could just disappear in front of Hannah.
Hannah understood his feelings perfectly.
When Charles told her that Oliver had conspired with Charlotte, she believed there must be a misunderstanding and never blamed him. "I know! Oliver, I've never blamed you! Bringing you to Sunset Bay wasn't for revenge or to imprison you!
It's just that it's not safe in Country D, and I wanted to protect you and explain the misunderstanding! Don't blame yourself anymore!
In the end, I also made mistakes!
I shouldn't have kept things from you. If I had told you the truth earlier, none of this would have happened!
It's okay, everything is over now! I'm safe, and Charles is fine!
Honestly, we should thank you! If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have caught Austin's accomplices! Don't blame yourself anymore."
Oliver looked at Hannah with tears in his eyes. "You really don't blame me?"
Hannah nodded firmly. "Yes, I'm telling the truth. Trust me!"
Seeing that she truly didn't blame him, Oliver felt even more guilty, tears falling again. "You've been so good to me, and yet I doubted you and conspired with outsiders against you!"
The more he thought about it, the more he felt he was despicable.
Hannah hugged him again, smiling, "It's all in the past! You've been protected too well by Quentin, Lisa, and me, so you didn't know how cruel people can be! You've learned from this experience, and I know you won't make the same mistake again!"
Oliver nodded vigorously. "I won't doubt you again! No matter what happens, I'll only trust you!"
Hannah patted his head. "Good boy!"
The siblings finally reconciled.
Hannah hesitated before asking, "Although that woman was caught by Charles, Austin is still out there! I'm afraid he might come after you! Why don't you stay in Sunset Bay for a while?
Charles thought that if you wanted to take exams, we could find a school here for you.
But the high school curriculum here is different from Country Z's, and taking exams here might affect your records.
How about we arrange for you to study abroad? Or you could study at home and retake the exams next year.
Whatever you choose, I'll respect your decision!"
Oliver felt deeply guilty for doubting Hannah and hurting her with others.
At this moment, he felt relieved.
It seemed like nothing else mattered.
"I'll study abroad! I don't want you and Charles to worry!" Oliver replied.
Seeing his decision, Hannah smiled happily. "Alright! I'll have Charles arrange it right away!"
Oliver grabbed Hannah's hand. "But I want to see Mom and Dad before I leave! I'm really worried about them! When they finish their sentence, I'll be back, and I'll take good care of them."
Hannah agreed readily. "Alright! Rest here for a couple of days, and I'll have Charles arrange it. Once everything is set, I'll personally take you to see them."
Oliver didn't think much, happily thanking her repeatedly. "Thank you."
Hannah smiled sincerely, her eyes gentle.
After chatting with Oliver for a while, she got up to leave.
Charles had been waiting outside, worried about her. Seeing her come out, he immediately grabbed her hand, anxiously asking, "How did it go? Did Oliver hurt you?"
Hannah glared at him. "What do you think of Oliver? He was just misled and deceived! Clearing up the misunderstanding was enough; he wouldn't hurt me."
Charles held Hannah's hand as they walked to the elevator.
The elevator arrived quickly, and they stepped inside.
Hannah said, "But Quentin and Lisa can't stay in the basement anymore. We need to send them to the cops! I told Oliver they'd face legal consequences. We'll report their crimes, and they'll be sentenced accordingly!"
Charles agreed readily. "Alright!"
Hannah continued, "Oliver has decided not to take exams and study abroad! Charles, please arrange it for him. He wants to study the same major as you! Find the best school for him!"
"Okay! I'll find the best school for him." Charles responded calmly.
Hannah added, "He wants to see Quentin and Lisa before he leaves! I want to meet them first to prevent them from saying anything that might drive a wedge between us siblings."
"Alright! I'll have someone arrange it!"
Hannah looked at him gratefully. "Charles, thank you! I'm so glad to have you!"
Charles gently rubbed her head. "There's no need for thanks between us! We're one, helping you is helping myself."
Hannah's eyes reddened with emotion, and she hugged his waist tightly.
