Chapter 751 Shameless and Brazen
Miles glared at Ariel, who had Oliver in a chokehold, his face darkening.
"I'm warning you, let him go now. Hurt him, and you'll regret it," Miles growled.
Ariel scoffed, "The Koch family's downfall is on you. You think I care about myself?"
She cut to the chase, "I don't want to hurt an innocent kid, but if you don't clear the Koch Group's name in the media, I won't hold back."
Miles played dumb, "I have no idea what you're talking about!"
Ariel couldn't believe his audacity, "Don't act like I don't know. You bribed Isadora, the Koch Group's design director, to sell designs to Virtual Sparkle Group. You launched the jewelry before the Koch Group could, then accused us of copying!"
Miles raised his eyebrows, "Is slander not illegal now? You think you can frame me? No way!"
Ariel, never knew Miles was such a shameless man, pressed the fork into Oliver's neck, making him cry out in pain.
Oliver cried, "Daddy, Mommy, it hurts! Please save me. I don't want to die."
Miles's eyes blazed with anger, "Ariel, let him go!"
Ariel lifted her chin defiantly, "If you don't care about your son's life, keep denying it! I just want to clear the Koch Group's name."
Layla saw the fork digging into Oliver's flesh, close to his carotid artery. Her face turned pale with fear.
She grabbed Miles' arm, frantic, "Save our son! If anything happens to him, I won't live either."
Miles' heart ached for Oliver.
He feared Ariel might actually harm him. But admitting to the accusations would ruin him. The Koch family and Virtual Sparkle Group would destroy him. He'd have no future.
After a moment of inner turmoil, Miles sneered in calm, "I'm still young. I can have more kids! But if you kill him, your life is over. You'll spend at least twenty years in prison. Think carefully about who wins and who loses."
Ariel and Layla stared at Miles in shock. Layla's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
Layls shouted, "Miles, he's your son!"
Though anxious inside, Miles kept a cold expression, "If I admit it, my life is over! We can always have another son."
Layla, focused on Oliver, didn't catch the hint in his eyes and slapped him hard.
Layla said, "That's your son! How can you say that?"
Miles, agitated, said, "I can't sacrifice my life for him. I've worked too hard to get here. I can’t let it be ruined by these two."
Layla was utterly disappointed, "We grew up together. You said you loved me even after marrying Ariel! I believed you and gave you a son. Now you’re saying his life doesn’t matter? Miles, how heartless can you be? I've stood by you for twenty years, and I never realized you were so selfish and heartless!"
Fearing she might spill too much in her agitation, Miles quickly tried to calm her down, "Layla, my feelings for you are real! Believe me, even without Oliver, we can have more kids!"
Layla shook her head, tears streaming down her face. Layla said, "I will never trust you again! And I will never have children with a man like you! Save my child now, or I will tell Ariel everything you've done."
Miles's expression turned fierce, "You wouldn't dare."
Layla looked at him fearlessly, "With my son gone, what wouldn't I dare to do?"
Seeing her determination, Miles knew she was serious. If anything happened to Oliver, Layla would definitely expose everything.
He loved Layla, but he couldn't let her ruin his life.
Miles' actions shattered Ariel's perception of him.
Ariel said, "Miles, you are the most shameless, selfish, brazen, and cold-blooded person I have ever met! I must have been blind when I ever liked you."
Ariel had always thought Miles was honest and straightforward.
Though he was modest and not very noticeable at home, everyone liked his unassuming nature.
But now it seemed that his modest demeanor was all his facade.
Miles's wickedness was ingrained in his bones. He was selfish and only cared about himself.
With things having reached this point, Miles decided to admit everything.
Miles said, "Yes, I did it! I bribed Isadora to sell the design to Virtual Sparkle Group! I also had Virtual Sparkle Group launch the jewelry first. Not only that, but I am the largest shareholder of Virtual Sparkle Group! I founded Virtual Sparkle Group! Yes, I did it all!"
Though Ariel knew Miles was behind all the bad deeds, she never imagined he was the biggest boss behind Virtual Sparkle Group.
Miles continued, "Six years ago, Virtual Sparkle Group was on the verge of bankruptcy due to poor management. I spent a fortune to buy it and led it to where it is today."
He paused, then added, "I am exceptionally capable. I am destined to achieve great things! No one can stop my success."
Suddenly, Ariel understood everything.
Ariel said, "No wonder Virtual Sparkle Group's designs have been so similar to the Koch Group's jewelry in recent years. From the beginning, you were copying the Koch Group. You know that if two jewelry designs are 60% similar, it would be considered as plagiarism. So you merged our designs and made some simple modifications! In that way, we couldn't accuse you of copying."
With everything out in the open, Miles no longer denied it.
Miles said, "Yes! Everything you said is correct! I admit, from the moment I bought Virtual Sparkle Group, I was copying the Koch Group. And it worked! Under my leadership, Virtual Sparkle Group has reached its current position."
Ariel was trembling with rage. If she could, she would have killed Miles with her own hands and then taken her own life.
She ruminated, 'All these years, what have I been doing? I had never found Miles' true nature.'
