Chapter 36 Clash Between Father and Son
Martin frowned. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Ryan took a deep breath, slowed down his pace and explained word by word,
"When Carter and I were on the roller coaster, we saw Patricia holding two children, a girl and a boy. The boy looked exactly like Randy! I swear, I really didn't make a mistake."
Martin asked in a deep voice, "Patricia?"
"Yes, it was Patricia!" Ryan nodded repeatedly.
Martin repeated his words, "You're saying you saw her holding Randy and a little girl? When and where?"
He was clearly implying that he didn't believe it.
Ryan's chest ached with anger. "What I said is true! It happened shortly after you took Randy away, about twenty or thirty meters southeast of the roller coaster."
Martin looked at Carter. "Did you see it too?"
Carter shook his head. "I didn't see anything!"
Compared to their calmness, Ryan was impulsive and impatient.
"He's nearsighted, for sure he didn't see! If you don't believe it, you can check the surveillance footage!I can assure you, Patricia had always been inside the amusement park."
Martin and Carter exchanged a glance.
Seeing that Martin still didn't believe him, Ryan continued, "Martin, I think there must be a secret that you don't know! Why would there be two Randies who look exactly the same?”
“Who is the little girl Patricia was holding? Don't you want to find out? I mean, what if! What if Patricia gave birth to more than just Randy back then? Could the little boy and girl be Randy's siblings? You should quickly ask Alan to check the surveillance."
Afraid that Martin would believe him, Charles hurriedly said, "Daddy, the roller coaster was too thrilling. Ryan was definitely scared and had hallucinations."
Remembering Ryan playing on the roller coaster, being so startled made Carter's mouth twitch in a spasm.
Martin's gaze was icy, sending shivers down one's spine, and the atmosphere became charged.
Seeing him angry, Carter hastily grabbed Ryan's arm and said, "Alright, stop talking, Ryan. Martin is furious."
Ryan couldn't understand why they just wouldn't believe him. Annoyed, he plopped down on the sofa.
"Why don't you believe me? I saw it when I was going up on the bungee jump ride. It wasn't an illusion caused by being scared! I have 20/20 vision and Randy is someone I've watched grow up. I absolutely can't be mistaken!"
Martin silently stared at him for a while, rare seriousness in his eyes, and temporarily believed him. He called Alan and asked him to pull up the amusement park's surveillance footage for the whole day.
Charles inwardly cursed.
If they actually checked the surveillance, he and Fannie would surely be discovered by their despicable father.
No, he couldn't let their despicable father find out.
Thinking of this, he purposely yawned, "Dad, you, Ryan, and Carter can talk about business. I'll go upstairs first!"
Martin didn't suspect him and let him go.
Charles prepared to run upstairs with a quick pace.
Just as he stepped on the first step of the staircase, he heard Ryan say,
"Martin, Alan has always been efficient in his work. It shouldn't take long for him to retrieve the surveillance footage. Let's go to the study and wait there. There is a computer in there already."
As Charles, was about to tamper with the surveillance footage in the study, heard these words, he abruptly stopped in his tracks and wished he could silence Ryan.
After a moment of silence, Martin seemed to think that what Ryan said made sense, so he took the two of them upstairs to the study.
As they passed by Charles, he even heard Ryan boasting, "Martin, I sensed that something was wrong and immediately rushed to tell you as soon as I woke up. You better thank me when you find your other son!"
Charles was infuriated and anxiously paced back and forth in the room. His heart was pounding uncontrollably, and the surrounding air seemed to grow tense along with it.
If their despicable father saw the surveillance footage, everything he and Mommy had hidden so carefully would be discovered.
No, he couldn't let this happen.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Charles took out his phone and dialed Patricia's number. The call connected, but there was no answer on the other end.
Charles's hands grew sweaty with impatience.
He whispered in a soft voice, "Please answer the phone, Mommy, please..."
Unfortunately, he made several calls in a row, but no one answered. Charles was so desperate he felt like crying.
With each passing minute and second, if he didn't take action soon, everything would be exposed.
Suddenly, he remembered something and called Jade.
Luckily, the call was quickly answered, and Jade's lazy voice came from the other end, "Charles, what's up with calling ?"
Anxiously, Charles said, "Where's Mommy?"
"Quick, let me talk to my mom."
"Your mom? Your mom is playing with Randy and Fannie! While I'm in the bathroom!"
Charles urged, "Hurry, give the phone to my mom, it's urgent!"
Jade responded lazily, "Hold on, I just came in! Let me deal with my physiological needs first."
Charles got so frustrated that he almost lost his breath, "Get out first, continue when I finish talking to my mom. Hurry, if we wait one more minute, someone might die."
"What's so serious? Life or death?" Jade didn't take his words seriously.
Charles stomped his foot in despair, "Please, it's really urgent. If we don't act now, things could get really bad for my mom."
His anxious and nervous tone made Jade unintentionally feel nervous as well, and she started to take the matter seriously.
"Okay, okay, wait a moment. I will go out right away and give the phone to your mom... What's going on? Why is it so urgent..."
There were rustling sounds from the other end of the phone.
After a while, Patricia's voice finally came through, "Charles, what happened? Jade said you have something urgent to tell me."
At this moment, her voice was like music to Charles's ears. He was so excited that he almost cried.
"Mom, does Randy have a computer? Any kind of computer would do." Charles hurriedly asked.
Perplexed, Patricia asked, "What do you need a computer for?"
Charles explained concisely, "Ryan saw you and Randy at the amusement park. Right now, Alan is waiting for the surveillance footage! If that jerk of a father sees you guys, our identities will be exposed. I have to clean up the surveillance video before Alan gets his hands on it."
Hearing this, Patricia's heart skipped a beat. She couldn't waste any more time and quickly said, "There's a laptop in the first drawer of Randy's wardrobe! The password is your birthday!"
At this moment, she was truly grateful that she brought a laptop with her. Otherwise, everything would be over today.
Upon hearing her words, Charles finally saw a glimmer of hope, "Great! I'll handle it immediately! Keep your phone with you at all times in case I need to call you."
"Okay!" Patricia agreed.
After ending the call, Charles indeed found a laptop in the first drawer of the wardrobe. He quickly opened the computer and operated it swiftly.
While working on the computer, he had the distinct impression that someone else was accessing the surveillance footage--
