Chapter 617 Who is Dr. Tate?

After struggling with her thoughts, Patricia ultimately had the driver take her to the doorstep of Nexus Holdings Corporation.

Upon getting out of the car, Patricia took out her phone and called Maximilian first.

It seemed he had anticipated her call as he answered the phone quickly.

"Mr. Reed... um..."

Patricia hesitated, not knowing how to start the conversation.

Maximilian, however, remained calm and stared at her quietly as he spoke, "Yes, I'm here!"
Patricia tightly bit her lip, hesitated for a while, and reluctantly spoke up, "Are you at the company? I want to talk to you about Dr. Tate."

Maximilian readily responded, "I'm at the office. I'll have my assistant come down to meet you."

"OK!"

Patricia knew that you needed an appointment to enter a big company.

Either someone would come down to meet you, or you would have to call the front desk.

Maximilian had his assistant come down personally, which showed her importance to him.

Soon enough, Maximilian's assistant arrived.

She had met this assistant in country M before, a young biracial man, if she remembered correctly, Maximilian seemed to call him Frank.

"Sullivan, hello! Mr. Reed asked me to come and escort you upstairs."

Frank respectfully greeted her and made a gesture for Patricia to follow him.

"Thank you!"

After expressing her gratitude, Patricia followed Frank and took the president's exclusive elevator straight to the top-floor office.

Maximilian had already prepared coffee and was waiting for her arrival.

When Patricia entered, he invited her to sit down and said, "Would you like some coffee? If not, I can have Frank get you a different beverage."

Patricia picked up the coffee, shook her head, and smiled. "Thank you! I'm fine with this."

Maximilian sat in his office chair, separated from Patricia by a desk.

He smiled at Patricia, rested his hand on the armrest of the chair, and supported his chin with folded hands, speaking gently, "Sullivan, did you find Dr. Tate?"

Patricia took a sip of coffee, placed the cup on the desk, and ran her fingers through her hair. She mentally reviewed the situation and awkwardly smiled.

"I had just walked in when I ran into your uncle, Kaleb."

Maximilian's mouth twitched involuntarily. "He didn't start bothering people again, did he?"

Patricia smiled helplessly. "Yes, he did! You know him well."

Maximilian frowned. "Was he beaten up?"

Patricia paused, choosing her words, "Almost. Kaleb certainly has a distinctive character."

She had encountered numerous elders in her time.

Yet, Kaleb was a character unlike any she had met before.

His presence was, in its own way, invigorating.

Maximilian massaged his temples, releasing a resigned sigh, "He is indeed... a character. I can't recall ever dealing with an elder as challenging as him. It's nothing short of a miracle that he's managed to live this long without meeting a bitter end at the hands of someone."
"Yes." Patricia awkwardly laughed. "That's right. I asked Kaleb, and he said Dr. Tate doesn't live there. I went to the address you gave me and found villa number 28. The butlers there also said their master isn't Dr. Tate, and they don't know who Dr. Tate is."

Maximilian had already expected that Patricia wouldn't easily find Dr. Tate.

But he didn't expect her to be so fortunate to come across her uncle.

Patricia paused and delicately asked, "Mr. Reed, could the address you gave me be wrong?"

She really wanted to ask Maximilian why Kaleb lived in Building 28 when he lied to her about living in Building 15.

But she was afraid that accidentally betraying the security guard would cost him his job.

Maximilian said, "The address is definitely correct!"

Patricia apologized, "But why did both Kaleb and the butler say there's no such person? Kaleb told me he lives in Building 15 and even invited me over."

Maximilian fell silent.

That damn older man.

He was always so childish.

Patricia delicately said, "Mr. Reed, I don't know when you're available. If you are, could you accompany me there? I think Dr. Tate might not recognize me, and that's why he doesn't want to see me. If you come with me, regardless of whether he's willing to help or not, at least I can meet him."

She needed to meet him in person in order to proceed.

"Ah..."

Maximilian sighed deeply.

Without hesitation, he readily agreed to her request, "In that case, I'll accompany you there! That older man is stubborn. If he finds out that I leaked his whereabouts to you, he'll probably ignore me for a long time again."

Patricia fell silent.

For a moment, she didn't know how to respond.

As if he hadn't noticed her awkwardness, Maximilian glanced at his watch and said, "It's already 7 o'clock. It'll be past eight by the time we get there. The older man is getting old and sleeps early. Let's do it tomorrow. Let's meet at the entrance of Building 28 at 9 o'clock sharp in the morning."
As long as he agreed to take her to see Dr. Tate, Patricia didn't hesitate to nod constantly, saying, "Thank you, thank you, Mr. Reed! I'm really grateful to you."

They had only met a few times in business, just acquaintances.

She never expected that he would be so loyal.

He was willing to help her with such a big favor.

She was very grateful to him from the bottom of her heart.

Maximilian didn't mind and said, "No problem! Have you had dinner? Let's eat together!"

Although Patricia wanted to go to the hospital immediately to accompany Martin, she felt that she shouldn't refuse Maximilian after he helped her so much, both emotionally and logically.

"OK! I'll treat you!"

Maximilian didn't bother with pleasantries and said, "Then I won't be polite to you!"

This meal took nearly two hours.

The two of them talked about Dr. Tate for a while and then discussed work matters.

By the time Patricia arrived at the hospital, it was already nine o'clock.

When Martin saw her flushed cheeks and the strong smell of alcohol on her, he furrowed his brow slightly and asked, "Did you drink? With Dr. Tate?"

Although Patricia had been drinking, she didn't drink much. Apart from feeling a bit dizzy and wanting to sleep, her mind was still clear.

She sat down by the hospital bed, shook her head, and chuckled. "No! I drank with Mr. Reed! I went to find Dr. Tate today, but he didn't want to see me! So, I went to find Mr. Reed, and he said he would personally accompany me tomorrow. To thank him, I treated him to dinner and drank a little."

Martin reached out and touched her reddened and hot face, feeling both guilty and remorseful.

"Patricia, I'm sorry for making you suffer."

Patricia held his hand in her hands, rubbing her face against his palm with her eyes closed, enjoying the moment.

"Don't apologize. We are husband and wife, and we should share both joys and sorrows. No matter what, I will beg Dr. Tate to save you... I will definitely do it..."

Even if she had to kneel and beg Dr. Tate.

She would do it without hesitation.

Martin was her life.

She couldn't lose him, and their children couldn't lose him.

Patricia asked, "What did you have for dinner tonight? Did you eat well when I wasn't here?"

Martin replied, "Of course, I have to take care of my health so that I can be with you until we grow old together!"
Patricia eagerly approached him and planted a firm kiss on his face, reaching out to ruffle his hair as if he were a puppy. "So obedient..."

Martin was both annoyed and amused, looking at her helplessly but not making any move to stop her.

"Alright, it's getting late. Let's go wash up and go to bed!"

"OK!"

Patricia smiled as she went to prepare her toiletries.

The two of them went to sleep early that night, and the next morning, after having breakfast together in the hospital room, Patricia accompanied Martin to the villa.
