Chapter 1141 Hannah Collapses
Just as Hannah was eagerly preparing to reunite with Lassie, Lisa rushed over and yanked her in front of herself.
"Where did this crazy woman come from, claiming daughters everywhere?" Lisa sneered at Hannah, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "What? You see rich people and can't wait to run over? Are you ashamed of us because we're poor? Think we can't give you a wealthy life? Let me tell you, don't even think about it. There's no way.
You are my daughter, and you'll always be my daughter!
A random woman shows up, and you want to call her mom? I think you are out of your mind."
As she spoke, she didn't forget to poke Hannah's forehead hard. "Let me tell you, that woman is a scammer. You're so stupid, don't be foolishly tricked by her and end up counting money for her! What an idiot."
Seeing her daughter being called an idiot, Lassie was furious.
She walked over, once again shielding Hannah behind her, and was about to hit Lisa.
This time, Lisa reacted quickly. As Lassie's hand was about to come down, she immediately stepped back, covering her face with her hands and glaring at her warily. "I'm warning you, don't hit me again. If you do, I'll call the cops."
Seeing her like this, Lassie laughed in anger.
She cupped Hannah's face in her hands and said softly, "Hannah, believe me, I really am your mother! I'm here to take you home! Will you come home with me?"
Lisa, afraid of losing her cash cow, immediately shouted, "Hannah, don't be fooled by her! Don't you know whose daughter you are?
Even if you want to escape our family, you shouldn't go around calling people mom. Do you think she really has your best interests at heart?
Let me tell you, human traffickers out there deceive young girls like you, then sell you off to remote areas to be wives, making you a baby-making machine, and you'll never escape!
Even if I'm not good to you, I'm still your mom. I've never thought of selling you.
Think about it, a woman suddenly shows up claiming to be your mom. What's her motive? She says she's been looking for you for years, and you believe her? Human traffickers have many tricks! They deceive naive girls like you.
I guarantee, if you go with her now, your life will be ruined."
Sure enough, her words successfully brainwashed Hannah.
Hannah's gaze towards Lassie became increasingly wary, and she unconsciously stepped back. "Are you a scammer?"
Why else would she suddenly be so nice to her?
Though she wasn't very smart, she knew that people didn't show kindness without a reason.
Seeing the wary look in her eyes, Lassie's heart broke.
She moved closer to Hannah, tears streaming down her face, carefully explaining, "Believe me, I really am your mother! I came here specifically to find you! I've been looking for you all these years."
Hannah kept retreating, shaking her head as she did. "No, I don't believe you! I don't believe you. You're a scammer."
Seeing her disbelief, Lassie panicked.
She had come here specifically to take her away.
If Hannah didn't believe her and refused to leave with her, this mission would undoubtedly fail.
Hannah would likely never wake up in reality.
Desperate to make her believe, Lassie explained, "Your real name is Violet. Your dad gave you that name."
Hannah looked puzzled. "Violet? I don't remember any of that."
Lassie continued, "Charles, do you remember him? You two grew up together. He even said he'd marry you when you were older."
Hannah shook her head, trying to recall. But nothing Lassie said rang a bell. All she could remember were the times with her grandmother.
"You're lying. My name is Hannah. I grew up in the countryside with my grandma. After she passed away, my parents brought me home."
She had always wondered if her parents didn't like her because she didn't grow up with them. Though she only lived with her grandma for a few years, those were the happiest years of her life, and she remembered them vividly.
And now this woman was claiming she grew up with her? It seemed Lisa was right; she must be a scammer.
Lassie panicked, quickly saying, "No, I'm not lying! Your name is really Violet, and you're my daughter! You were kidnapped in your second year of middle school! Then you disappeared! We've been looking for you all these years!"
"Second year of middle school?" Hannah muttered. Something flashed in her mind, but when she tried to grasp it, it vanished.
When she tried to think again, a sharp pain shot through her temples. She pressed her temples with both hands, groaning in discomfort.
Lisa pushed Lassie away. "You're talking nonsense! Her name is Hannah, she's my daughter, and she grew up in the countryside with her grandma! Do your homework before making up stories. If you said she was taken at birth, it would be more believable. She was fourteen in her second year of middle school, she has memories! My daughter isn't a fool, she won't fall for your tricks."
Then she turned to Hannah, "Hannah, don't believe her! I'm your mom, she's not! She's just trying to trick you!"
Lassie pushed Lisa away and said to Hannah, "Hannah, believe me, you really are my daughter. Lisa and Quentin are the scammers!"
Lisa retorted, "Nonsense, I'm Hannah's biological mother, you're the scammer."
Lassie, desperate to make Hannah believe her, argued with Lisa, "I'm Hannah's biological mother. Don't think I don't know what you and Austin have been up to! Austin gave Hannah to you to raise! And what did you do? Instead of treating her well, you abused her! Let me tell you, as long as I'm here, you won't lay a finger on my daughter again."
Lisa put her hands on her hips and started cursing. "You're lying! Hannah is my daughter, no matter what you say, she's my daughter! You scammer, trying to trick my daughter, no way."
Lassie, afraid Hannah wouldn't believe her, grabbed her arm and explained, "Hannah, I really am your biological mother, believe me."
Lisa grabbed Hannah's other arm. "Don't listen to her, I'm your biological mother, she's the scammer."
Lassie countered, "You're the scammer."
Lisa cursed, "You're the scammer."
Lassie and Lisa's voices were like a relentless noise, constantly assaulting Hannah's ears.
At this moment, her mind was blank, only their voices buzzing in her ears. Everything around her seemed to disappear, leaving only Lisa and Lassie's mouths moving in front of her.
