Chapter 51 Martin Snatches His Wife
Patricia and Hunter were engrossed in their conversation when they suddenly heard a commotion outside the private room.
"Mr. Langley, I'm really sorry. It was our employee's mistake. Room 001 has already been booked. Would you mind waiting a moment? I'll talk to the guests inside and see if they're nearly done."
"If it's already booked, we can switch to another private room."
"All the rooms are full! The guests in Room 001 have been here for a while now, so they should be almost done. Let me go in and check!"
"Alright!"
Before Patricia could respond, the door was opened without warning.
The manager, with a bowed waist, walked in with apologetic expression, "I apologize for the mistake made by our front desk. This private room was booked by someone last night, and the front desk didn't know, so they double-booked it for you. Look, have you finished your meal? If you have, can you vacate the room? As an apology, this meal will be complimentary, and I'll also give you five hundred dollars in cash vouchers as a token of apology."
Patricia didn't like to trouble others. She glanced at the food on the table and said, "Well then! Since it's like this, we'll vacate the place."
Upon hearing this, the manager let out a sigh of relief and repeatedly thanked them, "Thank you, thank you! Next time you come; I'll give you an 80% off voucher."
"Never mind!" Patricia smiled and looked at Hunter. "Hunter, since that's call it a day. We can plan to meet again another time."
Hunter asked, "Do you have plans this afternoon?"
"No, what's up?"
Hunter continued, "This afternoon..."
Before he could finish speaking, a cold breeze blew in from outside the door, followed by a familiar figure walking in.
Martin had a stern face, one hand in his pocket, wearing a black suit that accentuated his tall figure. With his piercing black eyes and powerful presence, he emanated an aura that commanded attention.
Patricia exclaimed in disbelief, "You... Why are you here?"
Randy immediately jumped off his chair, rushed to Martin's side, and tightly hugged his leg, excitedly saying, "Daddy, you finally came! If you didn't come..."
To prevent him from spilling the beans, Martin interrupted, "What are all of you doing here?"
Randy was momentarily stunned but quickly realized the situation. His eyes darted around mischievously as he closed his mouth.
The manager on the side immediately explained, "Mr. Langley reserved this private room last night. Unfortunately, our front desk forgot to register it, and the shift change didn't communicate properly. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused."
After understanding the situation, Patricia didn't mind and said, "No worries! We have already finished eating. Please tidy up and give him the room."
Martin gave Patricia a casual look and said, "Since we know each other, let's just eat together."
"......?"
"......?"
"......?"
After a brief moment of confusion, Patricia firmly declined, "No need, we're done eating. You can have the place."
Martin's handsome face immediately turned dark as a thunderstorm.
"Randy likes to be with you. His current condition isn't suitable for running around. You stay with me, and after I’m done eating, I'll drive you both back to the hospital."
"No need!" Patricia firmly refused. "Randy can stay here with you. Just send him to the hospital later. Hunter and I have some matters to attend to, and after we finish, I'll go back on my own."
“Shall we leave? Dear?” Hunter questioned Patricia.
Martin's anger flared, upon hearing Hunter refer to Patricia in such an intimate way. Martin’s face was visibly changing color as he gestured to Randy.
Picking up on his father's signal, Randy promptly took Patricia's hand and expressed, "Mommy, I don't want to be apart from you. I want you to be with me!"
Without hesitation, Patricia said, "Of course, you can come with me."
Randy quickly covered his heart and pretended to be in great pain. "Mommy, I have a bit of chest pain. It might not be suitable for travel right now."
Upon hearing this, Patricia immediately became anxious and crouched down to check his condition.
"Are you okay? What kind of pain is it? "
Hunter saw through his little scheme and stood on the side, smiling without saying a word.
Randy's face twisted into a tangled mess.
"The pain comes and goes, it's not too severe, just uncomfortable. I just need to take a break, sit down for a little while," he said, tightly gripping Patricia's hand. "But I want you stay with me! In case something unexpected happens, you’ll be here to handle it."
His intention was too obvious, and Patricia, who had been too anxious earlier, regained her senses and couldn't help but poke his forehead. "Don't talk nonsense like that again."
Randy playfully stuck out his tongue. Patricia stood up and looked at Hunter with apologetic eyes. "Hunter, Randy isn't feeling well, so I may not have time to accompany you today. Let's make plans for another time!"
Hunter patted her shoulder. "No worries, I totally understand. You take good care him, and we'll connect again."
Seeing Hunter's hand resting on Patricia's shoulder, Martin's eyes were filled with rage.
Patricia smiled and said, "I'll see you off."
"Hmm," Hunter nodded in agreement.
Patricia escorted him to the door and apologized, "Randy has always been with his father since he was young. We, mother and son, have just recently reconciled, so he clings to me more. I hope you don't mind."
Hunter shrugged indifferently. "No problem, I won't fuss about it with a child."
Patricia asked, "What did you want me to do this afternoon?"
Hunter chuckled, "I've been away from Ivara City for many years, and it has changed a lot. I brought few clothes with me, and the weather has gotten cooler. I was hoping you could accompany me to buy a few items."
Patricia readily agreed, "Tomorrow is Randy's first heart surgery. If you don't mind, can we go shopping after he gets through the critical first three days?"
"Okay! I'll be waiting for your message. Just don't keep me waiting too long."
"Sure!"
Once the two of them made their plans, Hunter left.
Patricia watched his figure until he disappeared from sight, then turned back to the private room.
A sense of chilling horror lingered in the room, and the air felt stifling. Alan and Luke were sitting there, barely able to breathe, their faces filled with despair. When they saw Patricia entering, it was as if they saw a savior, and excitement welled up within them, bringing a glimmer of light to their empty, lifeless eyes.
Patricia found it amusing and asked, "What happened to you guys?"
Alan repeatedly gestured towards Martin with his mouth.
Patricia shifted her gaze in surprise to Martin. There he sat like a king, his deep eyes filled with anger, his facial muscles tense, and his temper on the verge of exploding.
Patricia, lacking understanding, asked with confusion, "What did you guys do to make him angry?"
"...??"
"...??" Randy was speechless at her ignorance.
Even he, as a child, could see that his father was furious, but his Mommy seemed clueless.
Martin's face turned ashen, his voice icy. "Why took you so long?"
Not detecting any displeasure in his words, Patricia sat down beside Randy, unfazed, and said, "We didn't chat much. He just got back, and since it's a new season, he doesn't have any clothes to wear. We made plans to go shopping together next time."
The air instantly congealed into ice. Coldness spread wildly through the air.
Alan and Luke wanted to cry, wishing they could just die on the spot.
What have they done to deserve this? They were just reporting on their work, and now they're caught up in this mess.
