Chapter 847: Seeking Help

The white moonlight slipped through the glass window, throwing a long shadow.

The woman in the shadow was used to the dark and saw the visitor the second the door creaked open. She let out an excited roar.

"You finally showed up! Let me out, let me out! I've been so good to you, and this is how you repay me?"

The chains clanked as she yelled.

No matter how much she screamed and cursed, Austin stayed chill.

Then, Austin flicked on the lights.

His hand lingered on the switch, his face blank as he stared at his biological mom, Karen Martinez, who was chained up in the room.

Karen's clothes were a mess, her face wrinkled like she was eighty, and a thick chain was wrapped around her waist.

The other end of the chain was welded to the wall by the bathroom door.

The chain and the wall were seriously worn down.

As soon as the light came on, Karen lunged at Austin, trying to grab him.

But she was still too far away. She rushed too fast, and the chain yanked her back, slamming her to the ground.

Karen didn't give up, kept charging at Austin, only to be pulled back again and again.

She tried over and over, like she didn't feel any pain or tiredness.

Austin watched her struggle with a cold look, his thin lips curling into a smirk. "Stop wasting your energy! That chain's welded shut; no one without the right tools can open it."

Karen's face twisted with rage as she glared at Austin.

"Why? Why are you doing this to me? I'm your mom. I treated you so well, and you locked me up here!..."

She covered her face and started crying.

"You’re heartless, and you'll get what's coming to you one day..."

Austin stood there quietly, letting her rant.

When she finally stopped, he walked over to the sofa and sat down, pulling out his phone.

"You should never have had me! Since you did, you shouldn't have ditched me! From the moment you left me, we were done."

Karen screamed, "Even if you don't see me as your mom, you shouldn't lock me up here! Let me go. I want you to let me go. Without me, would you have what you have today? Without me, would you have your rich life now? Without me, would Violet even look at you? Without me, would you be engaged? Austin, no matter how much you deny it, I'm your mom. Everything you have now is because of me. What right do you have to lock me up here?"

If she had known Austin would be so cold and heartless, she wouldn't have had him.

No matter what she said, Austin stayed stone-faced, "Blame yourself for going after Violet!"

Karen got all worked up, "She's Carter's daughter. Carter and Martin together killed your dad. I was avenging your real dad. Their whole family deserves to die."

Austin squinted, looking at her darkly.

"You can kill Martin for all I care, but you absolutely cannot touch Violet or my dad, Carter! If you dare to kill them, I'll kill you."

Karen felt a chill under his gaze, but she still refused to show she was scared of Austin.

"I'm your mom. Carter is your dad's killer."

Austin clenched his fists and then let them go.

Austin said, "I'm not here to talk about that today!"

Karen immediately sensed something was off.

She wondered why Austin suddenly showed up.

Since he chained her up, he'd been living in the dorms, barely visiting. Every time he did, it was 'cause he needed her help.

Even though Austin was cold-blooded and capable of such things, deep down, he relied on and trusted her.

Otherwise, he wouldn't think of her first whenever he had a problem.

He knew better than anyone that in this world, only the two of them were the closest, and only she would help him.

No matter how much she hated him for locking her up, she would still help him.

She hated him, but every time he asked for help, she would do her best to give him advice.

Over the years, they had this twisted relationship.

Karen calmed down, sat cross-legged on the ground, and said smugly, "Alright, spill it. What's the problem this time? Is it about Violet again?"

Other than that, she couldn't think of any reason Austin would come to her.

Austin explained the situation.

After hearing his words, Karen couldn't help but laugh, "It just shows that Charles and Violet are meant to be. Even after all this, they still met and fell for each other."

Austin denied, "No! They haven't fallen in love yet."

Karen mocked, "In this situation, and you say they haven't fallen in love."

Austin, no longer calm, said excitedly, "Violet said she likes me. She and Charles are just ordinary boss and subordinate."

Even though he said this, he knew deep down that Karen was right.

Karen laughed again, "Ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous! Austin, do you even believe what you're saying?"

Austin's face turned extremely ugly.

Karen stopped laughing, her face serious, and said through gritted teeth, "It's obvious that Violet has already fallen for Charles! And Charles too! They might not realize it now, but one day they will. Once they do, you'll face losing Violet again. Last time, you could hide her and give her a new identity. But this time, it's not that easy! Violet is already twenty years old. Besides death, there's no other way to make her disappear from Charles's world."

She paused deliberately, then continued, "Moreover, even if you do what you did before, they might still meet. Life is long. Can you guarantee they won't fall in love again? You can't hide her every time Charles finds out, can you?"

Austin knew this, which was why he was in pain and asked her for help.

He didn't expect Charles and Hannah's relationship to develop so quickly.

He watched them fall for each other bit by bit and become important to each other.

This kind of slow-burning love was the most deadly.

That's how he fell for Violet!

Austin, no longer cold, held his face in his hands, breaking down, "What should I do? I really like Violet; I can't live without her! I finally got her to like me, and we're about to be together! Why? Why did Charles suddenly appear? Why does he keep taking Violet from me? Why? Why?"

He kept asking God why life was so unfair to him.

He worked so hard. He wanted to give Violet happiness through his efforts.

But God kept taking his happiness away.

Karen looked at him, her eyes narrowing sinisterly, "You're my son. If you have difficulties, of course, I'll help you!"

Austin seemed to see a glimmer of hope in the darkness and looked up at her sharply.
