Chapter 1069 Regaining Memory

After dinner, Charles and Stella took Hannah out. This was Hannah's first proper outing.

She couldn't remember the last time she went out. All she remembered was that she seemed to have always been in the hospital. Even when she came to Country D, she went straight from the hospital to the airport, arrived in Country D in the early morning, and then went straight home.

She couldn't recall what the outside world looked like. As she stepped out the door, Hannah looked around curiously.

A faint fragrance wafted by. Hannah couldn't help but close her eyes and take a deep breath. "Smells so good!"

Stella, holding her hand, led her to the greenery and pointed to a cluster of small white flowers, saying, "The fragrance you're smelling comes from these flowers."

Hannah took a deep breath. "It really smells good! Can I pick one?"

"Of course not..."

Before Stella could finish, Charles interrupted. "Others can't, but if you want one..."

As he spoke, he looked around to make sure no one was watching, then quickly stepped in, picked the prettiest white flower, and handed it to Hannah. "If you want it, I'll get it for you."

At worst, he would compensate the property management for the damaged flower. As long as Hannah was happy.

Receiving the flower from Charles, Hannah smiled happily, took a deep sniff, and her face lit up. "Smells so good!"

Stella didn't expect Charles to be so romantic. No wonder Hannah was so devoted to him. He was much better than Austin.

Stella gave Charles a deep look and said, "Hannah, let me pin the flower on your chest."

Hannah nodded vigorously and handed the flower to Stella.

Fortunately, Hannah was wearing a white blouse today. Stella pinned the flower to the second buttonhole, so Hannah could smell the fragrance wherever she went.

After leaving the neighborhood, Hannah became even more excited, asking about everything she didn't recognize.

Charles patiently answered each of her questions.

Stella was surprised. "Do you usually not go out?" Why did Hannah seem like a newborn?

Hannah didn't find it strange and calmly explained, "Yeah! Tina usually doesn't let me go out, saying there are many bad people outside and she's afraid I'll encounter them."

Stella almost laughed in anger. Tina wasn't afraid of Hannah encountering bad people; she was afraid they would find Hannah, so she kept her locked up.

If Hannah hadn't accidentally walked out and been taken to the police station, where her photo was taken, Charles still wouldn't have found her.

Tina was really wicked. She erased all of Hannah's memories, making her like a child who knew nothing. Sometimes, it was hard to tell if Tina liked Hannah or wanted to harm her.

By this time, the morning rush hour was over. Charles didn't drive but took them on the subway.

He used to take the subway with Hannah when they went on dates, which felt more like a young couple's outing.

Hannah sat in the not-so-crowded subway, curiously touching everything. "Are we traveling underground now?"

"Yes!" Charles patiently explained, "Because there are so many people, the subway helps avoid traffic jams and makes travel more convenient."

Hannah leaned against the window, trying to see outside, but it was pitch black. She could only see people and light when the train stopped.

To help Hannah get familiar with the subway, Charles even took her on a route transfer, letting her ride longer and slowly explaining the locations to her.

Stella sat quietly watching. She hadn't noticed before, but now she started to envy Hannah.

Charles was really gentle and patient, tirelessly explaining. He answered all of Hannah's questions repeatedly until she understood.

Suddenly, she also wanted to have a sweet romance and find a boyfriend like Charles. She didn't know if she could find one.

The journey took a bit longer, and by the time they arrived at D University, it was already 2 PM.

The campus wasn't particularly lively at this time. Some students were in class, while others without classes were studying in the library or resting in their dorms. The vast campus had only a few people scattered around.

Once at the school, Stella took over explaining to Hannah. She took Hannah to all the places they used to go.

Their favorite cafeteria, the woods, the artificial lake. And the campus tour bus they liked to ride. She let Hannah experience everything again.

At each place, Stella couldn't help but ask Hannah, "How about this place? Do you remember it? We used to come here often."

To each of her hopeful questions, Hannah shook her head blankly, indicating she didn't remember at all.

"How can you not remember? You spent two years here! You've only been at Charles's house for a short time, and you can remember some of it. How can you not remember anything from school?" Stella felt a bit frustrated, not knowing what the problem was.

Suddenly, Hannah saw something and excitedly said, "Stop, stop!"

The campus bus stopped immediately.

Stella asked worriedly, "Hannah, what's wrong?"

Hannah's eyes were fixed on a spot, as if entranced, and she got off the bus, walking step by step to the entrance of the girls' dormitory.

Stella and Charles followed her.

Stella excitedly said, "This is our dormitory. Did you remember something? From the first day of freshman orientation, you and I lived in this building! We were always roommates."

Hannah pointed to a flower bed at the entrance of the dormitory, thinking for a moment, and the blurry fragments in her mind gradually became clear. "This place... I... I think I dreamed about it last night."

Stella's eyes widened in surprise. "You dreamed about it? Last night?"

Hannah, seemingly not hearing her, tilted her head, pressed her right hand to her temple, and slowly uttered a name, "Arthur."

Stella and Charles were both shocked.

Stella's mouth twitched, and she glanced at Charles. Sure enough, Charles's face looked terrible.

Stella awkwardly smiled. "Hannah, we're here to help you remember your past. Someone like Arthur, who doesn't matter, you don't need to remember him."

She hadn't remembered any of her moments with Charles. But she remembered Arthur, who had once confessed to her. Anyone would be upset.
