Chapter 1183 Hannah is Betrayed
After hearing Charlotte's rant, Patricia couldn't hold back her laughter any longer. "Martin never did anything to you. Yet, for a man who doesn't love you, you've tried to kill him multiple times, not even sparing your own nephew."
Patricia, tired of arguing, glanced around the room.
Not seeing Austin, she asked, "Where's Austin?"
Charles replied in a low voice, "He ran, but I've sent people after him."
Patricia's face changed instantly. "You have to catch him! Don't let him get away! It was because your father and I were too soft-hearted that we left Charlotte alive, and look where that got us. Our family hasn't had peace for years."
Charles nodded. "I understand."
Patricia waved to the bodyguards. "Take her to the car! Tie her hands and feet. She's cunning. Ignore whatever she says and don't give her any chance to escape."
"Yes, Mrs. Langley!" The bodyguards lifted Charlotte off the ground.
Charlotte resisted, still shouting, "What? Did I hit a nerve? Is that why you're so eager to get rid of me?"
"Patricia, you're just as despicable as Martin."
"Even if you get rid of me, you can't hide your crimes. You murderers will never have peace."
"Patricia, Martin, my son escaped. He'll avenge me. He'll kill you both and make sure you never have peace."
Charlotte's voice grew fainter until it was completely gone.
Once Charlotte was taken away, Patricia walked over to Charles, patting his shoulder. "Charlotte is too cunning. Your father and I will take her back to Sunset Bay ourselves. We'll interrogate her there."
"As for Austin, remember, you can't let him escape again! He's as obsessive as his father, Hunter. Once he sets his mind on something, he'll stop at nothing to get it. Being targeted by someone like that is terrifying."
"I trust your abilities. I know you understand the stakes. Don't be soft-hearted!"
"I know," Charles nodded, indicating he understood.
"Good. With Charlotte caught, this matter is temporarily settled. Your father and I will head back. Take care."
Charles nodded again. "Alright."
Patricia turned to Hannah, concerned. "How are you feeling? Did they hurt you?"
Hannah smiled and shook her head. "No, Austin did a lot of bad things, but he wouldn't hurt me. He was actually quite decent to me."
Patricia was relieved and then looked at Charles. "You must protect Hannah! I wanted to take her back to Sunset Bay with us and leave you to deal with Austin alone. But I was afraid I couldn't protect her. If I lost her, I'd never forgive myself. So, you protect her. Your father and I will take Charlotte back."
Martin patted Charles' other shoulder. "That person is in Sunset Bay. If I'm not mistaken, Austin and Tina will likely return there. I'll have Alan bring people to help you. Call us if anything happens."
Charles nodded. "I understand. Don't worry about me."
"Good. Your mother and I will leave now. I'll take four people with us to handle Charlotte. The rest will stay to help you."
"Alright."
After giving their instructions, Patricia and Martin left.
The remaining bodyguards escorted them out.
On the second floor, only Charles and Hannah were left.
Hannah looked at Charles, puzzled.
Somehow, she felt something was off.
They had so many people. No matter how crazy Charlotte was, she shouldn't have been able to escape, let alone let Austin and Tina get away.
Especially considering what Martin said before leaving.
"Charles, are you hiding something from me?" Hannah asked.
Charles smiled. He hadn't planned to hide anything from her, but this wasn't the place to talk. He gently tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear and said, "Let's go back to the hotel. I'll tell you everything there."
Hannah didn't press further and nodded obediently.
Hand in hand, they went downstairs.
Charles, worried, asked, "How's your leg? Should I carry you?"
Hannah dismissed his concern. "It's fine. It's been over a month. It was just a fracture, not a break. It's not that serious."
Charles still looked worried. "But the doctor said it takes a hundred days for bones and muscles to heal. You need to rest more."
Hannah explained, "I haven't been doing much. I've mostly been resting."
She added, impatiently, "Alright, stop nagging like an old man."
They left the house and got into the black SUV parked outside.
Not long after they started driving, Hannah couldn't help but ask, "Charles, how's Oliver? Did Wyatt find him? I hope Charlotte didn't pull any tricks."
Charles smiled slightly. "Don't worry. We'll find him. If we had known Austin had an accomplice, today's events wouldn't have happened. We were careless this time. It won't happen again."
Just then, Charles' phone rang.
It was Wyatt.
Hannah immediately grabbed Charles' arm, nervous.
Charles reassured her, rubbing her head, and answered the call. "What's the situation? Did you find Oliver?"
Wyatt hesitated, not speaking immediately.
Sensing something was wrong, Charles glanced at Hannah and said in a low voice, "Just tell me."
"Uh, Mr. Watson, it's a bit complicated. We found the location, but Oliver wasn't kidnapped. He was, um..."
Wyatt trailed off, struggling to find the right words.
Charles had already guessed. "They're working together."
After a long pause, Wyatt confirmed, "Yes. Oliver seems to have some misunderstandings about Hannah. He's young and was easily manipulated. That's why he teamed up with Austin against her."
"Alright, I understand. Take him somewhere safe and wait for my instructions."
"Got it."
After ending the call, Charles looked deeply at Hannah, his temples throbbing.
Oliver was working with Charlotte.
If that was the case, things were more complicated.
Hannah valued Oliver greatly. If she found out he had teamed up with outsiders against her, she wouldn't be able to handle it.
Especially seeing Hannah's anxious and hopeful eyes, Charles didn't know how to break the news to her.
