Chapter 1074 Charles
Hannah still couldn't accept everything she had just learned. She stared blankly at Charles, pointing at herself. "I'm Hannah?"
Charles nodded. "Yes, your original name was Hannah."
Hannah asked in confusion, "But why do I only remember being called Evelyn? I don't remember anything about the name Hannah."
Charles affectionately ruffled her hair. "It's normal not to remember! Don't worry, we'll take it slow. You're already starting to remember a little, right? I'll help you gradually recover your old memories."
He still couldn't figure out how much Tina meant to Hannah.
If Hannah trusted Tina more than him, telling her about Tina's actions might not only be disbelieved but also shatter the trust he had painstakingly built over the past few days.
So, he had to endure. He had to wait until Hannah fully trusted him before revealing the whole truth.
Although Hannah had been hypnotized and remembered nothing, she wasn't stupid. She could sense that something was off.
"Is there something you can't tell me? My current name, and all the memories I have about this name. Why do I have these memories? I know you're not lying to me! But there are still so many things I don't understand."
Charles smiled. "It's okay if you don't understand now. You'll figure it out slowly! Let's not rush. Let's go out and have some fun for a couple of days. Maybe you'll remember something on your own."
Seeing that he was unwilling to say more, Hannah didn't press him further.
Charles ruffled her hair again, then sat up straight and continued driving.
She had no idea where the movie on the central screen had progressed to. Hannah wanted to continue watching but found she couldn't focus. Her mind was filled with intimate moments with Charles, making her blush deeply.
She and Charles had been so close. Thinking about this, she couldn't help but steal a glance at Charles.
His profile looked even more handsome, with a high nose bridge, slightly raised eyebrows, and a chiseled jawline. No matter how she looked at him, he was handsome.
Hannah unknowingly got lost in her thoughts, her gaze shy and filled with the emotions of a young girl experiencing her first love.
Sensing her gaze, Charles's lips curled into a charming smile.
Hannah eventually fell asleep just as they were about to reach the scenic area.
After parking the car, Charles didn't wake her up immediately. He opened the car door to let the air circulate and got out to stretch his legs.
After a while, his phone rang in his pocket. Afraid of waking Hannah, he walked a bit further away, took out his phone, and answered it. The call was from Stella.
As soon as he answered, her urgent voice came through the phone. "Charles, where are you? We've been here for a while, and you still haven't arrived. Did something happen on the way?"
Charles replied, "No, Hannah fell asleep in the car. You go ahead and have fun. I'll let her sleep a bit longer."
Stella didn't ask further and readily agreed, "Alright, we'll go ahead then! I'll register the house for you!"
They had booked it over the phone earlier. Since they were here, they needed to register at the front desk.
"Okay!" After ending the call, Charles put his phone back in his pocket and stood a few feet away from the car, looking at Hannah sleeping with her head tilted back. A long-lost sense of happiness welled up inside him.
It was so good to have Hannah back by his side. Even if she didn't remember him, it didn't matter. As long as she stayed by his side, that was enough.
While Hannah slept in the car, Charles did nothing but watch her, afraid that he might lose her again if he wasn't careful.
He didn't know how long had passed when Hannah's head suddenly tilted, and she woke up with a start, sitting up abruptly and looking around in panic.
Still groggy from sleep, she couldn't immediately figure out where she was. The unfamiliar environment scared her, and she instinctively called out, "Charles."
Hearing her call, Charles immediately ran over, gently cupping her face and soothing her, "Don't be afraid, I'm here!"
Hannah grabbed his arm in fear. "Charles, where are we? Where am I?"
Charles, excited, asked, "Hannah, what's wrong? Did you remember something?"
Seeing his eyes redden with excitement, Hannah finally calmed down. She looked around and realized they were in a parking lot, awkwardly pulling Charles's hands away from her face.
"No! I just... I just..." She wanted to explain but found she couldn't come up with a reasonable explanation.
Why had she instinctively called out Charles's name just now? She had called it out instinctively. Even she didn't know why.
Charles didn't want to push her. He knew that many memories were etched into Hannah's very being. Even if Tina had erased her memories, many instinctive reactions would still surface. Calling his name instinctively might just be one of those reactions.
"It's okay! You don't need to rush. It's fine if you can't remember." His reassurance made Hannah feel a bit better.
Charles continued, "This is the parking lot of the Crystal Blue Lake resort. We've arrived. I saw you were asleep and didn't want to wake you."
So they had already arrived at the resort.
"Sorry!" Hannah blushed and made a move to get out. Charles immediately stepped aside, took her hand, and helped her out of the car.
"Stand here and rest for a bit. I'll get the luggage from the trunk. Stella has already registered for us, so we can go straight to our room."
Hannah nodded obediently. "Okay!"
After taking out the suitcase, Charles didn't overstep any boundaries. He let her walk on his left side and led her to the villa at the resort.
Everything here was new and exciting for Hannah. She quickly forgot the awkwardness in the car and was captivated by the beautiful surroundings. "This place is so beautiful!"
Charles smiled. "It's not that special! Just some landscaping and villas. The real beauty here is the sunrise and sunset! Let's rest in our room for a bit, and later I'll take you up the mountain! We'll take the cable car."
Hannah couldn't believe that the view from the mountain could be even more beautiful and eagerly nodded.
Charles led her to the villa where they would be staying temporarily.
Afraid that Hannah might be scared, he specifically arranged for her to stay in the room opposite his. "Rest in your room for a bit and pack a couple of changes of clothes. We'll spend the night on the mountain!"
"Okay!" Hearing that they would spend the night on the mountain, Hannah's eyes sparkled. She went to her room, rested for a while, then packed a couple of changes of clothes into her backpack, eager to head to the mountain.
Charles took her backpack and led her to the mountain. That place held special significance for both of them. He hoped it would help Hannah remember more.
