Chapter 48 Patricia Flirts with Martin

Patricia pretended to look calm as she stared at the medical book, but her mind was numb, unable to focus on a single word. His words from earlier echoed in her ears, and a blush slowly crept up to her ears.

Martin uncomfortably pursed his thin lips, trying his best to divert his attention.

"Let me... I'll cook for you!" Patricia reacted strongly, slamming the medical book onto the bedside table, then jumped out of bed and left the room in a hurry.

Watching her flee, Martin pulled at his loosened tie in frustration—

Meanwhile, Patricia escaped to the kitchen, touching her flushed cheeks, wishing she could find a hole to hide in.

She had sealed this emotion deep in her heart. But his unintentional words could easily resonate with her heartstrings.

Patricia scolded herself while preparing dinner for Martin.

Luckily, the fridge was fully stocked, and in no time, she had cookeda steaming bowl of spaghetti with marinara sauce. Finally, she topped the spaghetti with a sprinkle of herbs, poured a stream of sizzling olive oil over them, which brought out the enticing aroma of the fresh green onions.

Patricia was satisfied with her masterpiece.

Suddenly, Martin's low and hoarse voice came from behind.

"It smells so good! It must taste delicious."

The unexpected voice startled Patricia, causing her to turn around abruptly.

Martin wasn't wearing pajamas and casually had a robe on without tying the belt, revealing his strong and toned tanned skin, with glistening droplets sliding down his firm abs, vanishing into a mysterious region.

Patricia's gaze followed the droplet's path, stopping at the mysterious area, and she couldn't help but gulp, images involuntarily flooding her mind.

Observing her expression, Martin felt immensely pleased.

He calmly walked over and playfully teased her, "How about I take off my clothes and let you have a look!"

As he spoke, a deeper smile formed on his lips, and his low voice sounded ambiguously seductive.

With flushed cheeks, Patricia angrily pushed him away, "Get out of here! No one wants to see you!"

Martin used the opportunity to press her hand against his chest.

"Thump, thump, thump."

Through their thin skin, Patricia clearly felt his heart pounding in her palm. She held her breath, refusing to move, as the air inexplicably grew thin, and the atmosphere became exceedingly ambiguous.

Her reaction made Martin's throat tighten, as if a spark had been thrown into a pile of firewood, igniting roaring flames.

Sensing his change, Patricia was about to speak in fear, but he gently pinched her chin, forcing her to lift her face, and the next moment, his lips descended upon hers.

Patricia's heart suddenly trembled, instantly forgetting the appropriate response...

His kiss was familiar and indulgent, forceful and domineering, swirling their tongues together, teasing and exploring.

In the mingling breaths, there was a faint and intoxicating fragrance, each of which had an impact on his thoughts, while a peculiar sensation surged from his lower abdomen.

Seeing that she didn't resist, Martin became bolder. His sturdy palm moved towards her back and slowly slid upward—

Patricia felt a tingling sensation in her scalp, her entire body becoming weak. The soft petals of her lips instinctively responded, uncontrollably and willingly, to his kiss.

Seeing that the situation was about to escalate beyond control—

"Clang!"

A sound came from the kitchen entrance as a glass fell to the ground.

Patricia abruptly returned to reality, instinctively pushing Martin away on reflex. Her face reddening like a boiling pot. Even Her face reddened like a ripe tomato, the blush reaching all the way to her ears..

Unfortunately, a good moment was abruptly interrupted.

Martin's eyes seeing red, as if he were about to kill, and he turned to look at the kitchen door.

Sophia was shocked, trembling all over, and her legs went weak. She fell to the ground, apologizing as she picked up the broken fragments, "Sir, Madam, I'm sorry, it was not intentional! I was just thirsty and wanted to have a glass of water."

Veins protruded on Martin's forehead, he took a deep breath, suppressing his raging anger, and tidied up the clothes he had messed up for Patricia.

"We'll continue later!" A soft voice by the ear, like a faint veil, hazy and ambiguous, entangling and heart-wrenching.

The string in Patricia's heart was plucked gently, just like feathers brushing against it. Her heartbeat raced as if it wanted to jump out of her chest.

Martin chuckled softly, picked up his noodles, and sat down at the dining table to enjoy his meal.

Patricia glared at him fiercely, then squatted down to pick up the broken fragments with Sophia.

Sophia kept apologizing, "Madam, I'm sorry, I really didn't mean it. I didn't expect both you and Sir to still be in the kitchen so late."

Patricia smiled and comforted her, "It's okay, you don't need to worry about it."

Sophia was grateful, so she quickly finished cleaning up the fragments and hurriedly left.

At this moment, Patricia's mind cleared up. Thinking about the kiss just now, she hated herself and wanted to slap herself. She was also planning to leave as if to escape.

"Stay with me!" Martin's voice became low, sexy, and husky, shrouded in a layer of intoxicating ambiguity, making hearts tremble with excitement.

Patricia almost couldn't move her feet again.

Fortunately, in the end, she let reason overcome everything and didn't pay him any attention. She walked away.

After returning to her room, Patricia lay down next to Randy, turned her back to the door, turned off the lights, and tried to sleep. However, her mind was filled with the scene in the kitchen, and there was no sleepiness at all.

After tossing and turning in bed for a while, the sound of steady footsteps came from outside the door.

Knowing that Martin had come upstairs, Patricia immediately closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep.

The next moment, the door was opened, and a shadow enveloped her. Martin's piercing gaze fell on her, as if he wanted to see through her.

Patricia's nervous palms sweated, her scalp tingled, and she almost stopped breathing.

Just when she was about to reach her breaking point, Martin finally walked away. Before she could even heave a sigh of relief, the bed behind her suddenly sank down.

The next second, a pair of arms reached around her waist.

Patricia trembled all over, forgetting that she was pretending to sleep. She sat up abruptly and glared at Martin angrily, "What are you doing?"

Martin looked innocent, "Sleeping!"

Patricia's chest rose and fell dramatically in anger. "Go back to your own room to sleep. Why are you sleeping next to me?"

Martin innocently smiled, "Didn't you promise Randy that we would all sleep together as a family from now on?"

Patricia was so angry she felt like she could explode.

"Yes, I did promise Randy, but when I said we would all sleep together as a family, I didn't mean for you to sleep next to me, it meant just like last night..."

"So, you're going to sleep now?" Martin said, unbothered.

Patricia got agitated at his behavior.

"What's the matter? Mr. Langley, don't forget, you have a fiancée! Aren't you afraid she'll be hurt if she finds out you're sleeping with another woman behind her back?"

The warm atmosphere abruptly stopped, and a chilling air spread rapidly.

Martin's handsome face tightened, his icy eyes staring at her.

Feeling his intense gaze, Patricia held her head high, bravely saying, and “Am I not right in what I said? Even if you're angry, it won't change the fact that you have a fiancée."

Martin's entire face turned dark, and his fists tightened with a cracking sound. "In that case, what were you doing in the kitchen earlier? Why did you make me dinner?"

Patricia scoffed, "Mr. Langley, are you too self-centered? Just because I cooked a meal doesn't mean I like you, right? I did it solely for the sake of our son and nothing more."

Martin's eyes suddenly narrowed, burning with furious flames that seemed to devour her.

Patricia edged to the other side of the bed, keeping her back turned to him.
