Chapter 1132 Nightmare

The feather duster struck Hannah over and over, leaving bloody welts on her skin.

Hannah curled up in fear, not daring to move. She bit her lip hard, eyes shut tight, as the duster mercilessly hit her.

"I won't do it again, Mom, I promise! Please, stop hitting me, it hurts so much!" Hannah cried out, begging for mercy.

She just wanted the beating to stop.

From a young age, she knew her parents didn't like her. In their eyes and hearts, there was only her brother.

When they were in a good mood, they would give her a bite to eat. When they weren't, she went hungry.

Whenever they were upset, they took it out on her.

Now, this little girl was huddled on the floor, her eyes and face full of helplessness.

Who could save her?

Why didn't her parents like her?

Why did they treat her this way?

Wasn't she their biological daughter?

After a while, Lisa finally got tired and stopped, hands on her hips, panting heavily. "I'm telling you, you better watch yourself from now on. If you break anything in this house again, I'll beat you to death! You useless thing."

With that, she cursed under her breath and left the room.

Hannah lay on the floor, her body covered in wounds, her clothes stained with blood. Her face was pale with a hint of blue, and she was sweating from the pain.

The high fever, combined with her injuries, nearly took her life.

After that incident, she was bedridden for a whole month.

She was in a daze, her fever coming and going.

If it weren't for Oliver secretly buying her medicine, she might have died from the illness.

The scene in her dream shifted rapidly.

Hannah walked out of the coffee shop where she worked, holding her freshly earned wages. Looking at the money in her hand, she finally smiled a little.

With this money, she could enroll in a tutoring class.

She did well in school, but her math and physics were weak. Her classmates all had tutors, but she could only ask the teacher questions during breaks.

No matter how hard she worked, she couldn't keep up with her classmates who had extra evening and weekend lessons.

With this money, she could finally catch up.

But just as she walked a short distance from the coffee shop, the money was snatched from her hand.

Hannah gasped and was about to shout when she heard Lisa's warning voice.

"I knew you got paid today! The family needs money, and this will help." As she spoke, Lisa spat on her hand and started counting the money.

Hannah protested, "Mom, this is for my tutoring class. You can't take it."

Lisa ignored her, finished counting the money, and frowned in disgust. "Is this all you made? You're useless."

Hannah tried to grab the money back, but Lisa dodged her.

"Mom, I said this is for my tutoring. You can't take it."

Lisa scoffed, "You're a girl. Why do you need so much education? You should drop out, get a job, and make money. In a couple of years, find a rich man to marry and get some wedding money."

Hannah frowned, "D University is my dream. I want to study. I want to get into D University."

Lisa sneered, "Do whatever you want, but you still have to contribute to the household every month. I won't give you a penny. Earn it yourself."

With that, she walked away with the money, not looking back.

Watching her mother disappear, Hannah couldn't hold back her tears any longer.

The scene shifted again.

After evening classes, Hannah walked through the dark alley of the old neighborhood, carrying her backpack.

It was pitch black, with no light at all.

Just as she reached the apartment building, she felt someone touch her butt.

She screamed and turned around to see a man leering at her, his eyes roaming over her body.

Hannah recognized him immediately, who was the middle-aged man who lived across from them.

He was a chronic gambler and drunkard, always leering at her whenever he saw her, rubbing his chin and staring at her breasts.

She had told her mother several times, but her mother not only didn't help, she scolded her, saying it was her own fault for attracting perverts and that she should look at herself for the reason.

After that, she never told her mother again.

She never expected to run into him today.

Hannah wanted to run, but he blocked her way.

The man reached out to touch her face, and Hannah screamed, closing her eyes and instinctively hitting him with her backpack.

The backpack was full of heavy books, and it hurt when it hit.

The man cried out in pain.

It wasn't that late, and people hadn't gone to bed yet. His cries attracted a crowd, including his wife, Quentin, and Lisa.

Seeing her husband being hit, the woman rushed over and pushed Hannah to the ground.

Before Hannah could react, she was slapped twice.

Hannah was stunned, her cheeks burning with pain.

"You dare hit my husband? I'll beat you to death!" The woman lunged at Hannah again.

This time, Hannah quickly got up and dodged her, trying to explain, "He touched my butt, so I hit him."

Hearing this, the woman stopped and glared at her husband.

But the man turned the tables, grabbing his wife's hand and whining, "Honey, I didn't! That little slut tried to seduce me, saying she'd sleep with me for five hundred dollars! I refused, and she hit me! Look, she even hurt my face."

Everyone's eyes turned to Hannah.

Hannah's eyes filled with tears.

She was just a child and had never dealt with something like this. She started crying in frustration. "It's not true! He touched my butt and blocked my way, trying to take advantage of me!"

The man sneered, "Do you think you're prettier than my wife? If I wanted a woman, there are plenty of beauties out there. Look at yourself. You were the one trying to seduce me!"

Hannah's tears flowed freely.

She wanted to explain, but the more anxious she got, the less clear her words became.

At that moment, she saw her parents in the crowd and wanted to go to them for help.

But Quentin, embarrassed, walked away.

Lisa not only didn't defend her but slapped her hard.

Hannah held her stinging cheek, looking at her mother in disbelief.

Her mother didn't believe her.

She always knew her mother didn't like her.

But she never thought her mother wouldn't believe her in this situation.

This realization made her heart ache.

Lisa clearly believed the man's story, her face twisted with anger. "How did I raise such a shameless daughter? You'll do anything for money! If you want to sell yourself, don't do it at our doorstep! There are plenty of men out there. Are you trying to embarrass me?"

Hannah held her face, pointing at the man, "He tried to take advantage of me. Why don't you believe me?"

For the first time, she questioned her mother loudly.

She just felt wronged and wanted her mother to stand up for her. Why didn't her mother believe her?
