Chapter 19 A Whistleblower Comes To Mommy’s Defense

Witnessing his mommy unfairly accused, Randy grabbed the plate of food and angrily hurled it at Debbie, catching her off guard. The remaining salad splattered on her limited-edition clothes, causing her face to shift between pale and blue as she struggled to maintain her fake smile.

Martin's anger flared, his voice turning cold and authoritative as he said, "Randy, what are you doing? Apologize to Auntie."

"No! No one is allowed to bully my mommy!" Randy stood in front of Patricia bravely.

Watching her son's fearless defense, Patricia was deeply moved and on the verge of tears. She embraced Randy and cast a gaze at Debbie.

"Debbie, there's no need for pretense here. You know the truth of this matter. I hope you can remain composed when the truth comes to light."

After her statement, she no longer paid attention to Debbie. Instead, she divided the porridge between herself and Randy, and they began to eat.

"You've gone too far!" Debbie's tears flowed freely as she covered her mouth and hastily retreated, her heart in tatters.

Martin massaged his throbbing temples, weariness etched across his face. Patricia ignored them, finishing breakfast with Randy before donning her white coat and heading to the office.

Upon entering the office, Susie launched into a scolding. "Dr. Watson, I understand your relationship with Mr. Langley is unconventional, and I know you're a doctor, unlike the rest of us. But you can't treat people this way!"

Gladys also voiced her displeasure. "Dr. Watson, the teacher is really nice. I implore you, please stop tormenting her. Yesterday, she nearly took her own life because of the online abuse."

Even the usually reserved doctors couldn't remain silent and came forward to speak up for Debbie.

"Dr. Watson, I also believe you've crossed a line this time! Regardless, you're still an outsider. Randy is Dr. Brown's nephew and will soon have her as a stepmother. You can't interfere in their relationship."

"Although you have the right to pursue love, you can't snatch a colleague's fiancé! Your actions are truly reprehensible."

Patricia looked at Debbie, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "Is it reprehensible?"

Debbie wiped her tears, her shoulders trembling. "Dr. Watson, I know my fiancé is exceptional. Women in Ivara City aspire to marry him. If you truly have feelings for him, just be honest with me.

"No need for clandestine schemes and meddling in our relationship. Even if Randy likes you, my fiancé doesn't. You won't stand a chance at all."
Patricia gave her a mocking smile, then turned and walked away, holding the medical records. Her contemptuous gaze, as though she saw Debbie as a mere fool, infuriated Debbie, bringing her to tears once again. Colleagues gathered around to console her.

"Dr. Brown, don't stoop down to her level. People like her will face consequences someday."

"Yes, let her enjoy her fleeting victory. Mr. Langley will eventually see through her true intentions and send her packing."

"We'll all stand by your side and keep an eye on her."

Debbie's tears flowed even more intensely, her face filled with gratitude. "Thank you, thank you all... If it weren't for you, I don't know what I would do."

After leaving the ward, Patricia sent a message to Charles, instructing him to "take action."

Even though he should have been at school, Patricia allowed Charles to have the day off for this purpose. Following Patricia's orders, the video was immediately posted anonymously in its entirety on the hospital forum and quickly gained popularity.

By the time the doctors finished their rounds, the post had already gone viral on the forum. As Debbie entered the office, she immediately felt everyone's meaningful gaze.

At first, she didn't pay much attention, assuming that everyone was supporting her, especially after the Patricia incident.

"Thank you all for your support! But I hope we can put this matter to rest. After all, Dr. Watson is our colleague, and I don't want any conflicts to arise because of me."

As soon as these words left her mouth, everyone's expressions grew even more peculiar. There was no sign of agreement or support; instead, they collectively avoided making eye contact with her. Sensing that something was amiss, Debbie turned to Susie.

Susie, who typically had a close relationship with her, immediately turned away and pretended to be engrossed in her work, ignoring Debbie. A creeping sense of unease settled in Debbie's heart.

Before she could unravel the situation, Patricia entered the office. She greeted Debbie with a smile and said, "Dr. Watson, you're here! I hope you're not angry. Everyone is doing this for my sake."

Patricia smirked, but her smile didn't reach her eyes. "I'm not angry. Why would I be? It's you who deceived them, not me."

Debbie's face stiffened, and she feigned innocence, asking, "What do you mean?"

Patricia pursed her lips, shrugged, and returned to her desk to begin working. Colleagues who had wrongly accused her hesitantly approached, saying, "Dr. Watson, I'm sorry. I blamed you without understanding the truth. I was wrong!"

Once one person took the lead in apologizing, several others came forward sincerely to offer their apologies as well.

"Dr. Watson, I apologize. We shouldn't have believed one-sided accounts and accused you unjustly. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive us."

"I'm also very sorry. I didn't expect the truth to turn out like this."

The unusual change in everyone's demeanor only heightened Debbie's growing sense of unease. "What's going on with all of you? I'm the victim here, so why are you apologizing to her?"

Everyone turned their gaze toward her, their eyes filled with disdain and blame. Susie took the lead in responding, "Dr. Brown, you have truly crossed a line. It's clear that you're at fault, yet you framed Dr. Watson. How can you be so malicious?"

Debbie was utterly bewildered. Susie's assertiveness emboldened others to speak up.

"That's right, Dr. Brown. How could you be so unethical? Not only did you frame Dr. Watson, but you also deceived us. We stood up for you, and you treated us like fools."

"We used to believe you had a good heart, but we were mistaken about you. Your true nature is truly wicked."

"Never did we imagine you could be so conniving. You are truly despicable."

A barrage of accusations left Debbie's face first pale, then flushed with anger. Just then, Gladys hurried into the office with her phone.

"Something terrible happened..." She lowered her voice upon seeing everyone present and handed the phone to Debbie, saying, "Please take a look!"

Debbie accepted the phone and, upon reading its contents, felt like her mind had exploded. Her face turned deathly pale, and her body trembled uncontrollably.

"Who did this? Who?!" she exclaimed.

Only Debbie and Gladys had access to the full video. If it wasn't her, then it must be Gladys. Realizing this, she glared fiercely at Gladys, not interested in any explanations, and slapped her without hesitation.

"Did you upload the video? Why would you do this?" she demanded, putting all her strength into that slap.

Gladys's face was violently pushed to the side, and the clear imprint of fingers appeared, burning with pain. She felt extremely aggrieved, and tears welled up in her eyes.

"It wasn't me! How could I betray you? Why would I do such a thing!"

Debbie had forgotten to maintain her pretense. Anger had robbed her of reason, twisting her face into a ferocious expression as she said, "If it wasn't you, then who else? Only the two of us had the video!"

Gladys, struggling to hold back her tears, took the phone and opened the top trending topic on 'X.' It was different from the hospital forum. Inside, there was not only the complete video recorded by Gladys but also the full footage captured by the parking lot surveillance cameras.

Furthermore, there were several screenshots of chat records. These included chat screenshots between her and Gladys, as well as chat screenshots of her requesting someone to edit and anonymously publish the video on the forum.

The second trending topic was '#ExplosiveRevelation: Dr. Watson and Debbie Revealed as Half-Sisters.' The headline began with three family photos.
The first photo displayed a family portrait taken when Patricia was five years old. In it, she stood between her father, Gavin Watson, and her mother, Isabella Laurent. Both Patricia and Isabella wore smiles of happiness, while Gavin's expression conveyed reluctance and discontent.

The second photo mirrored the first, featuring five-year-old Debbie standing between her father, Gavin, and her mother, Manda. In this image, all three of them radiated happiness in their smiles.

The third photo, captured eight years ago, depicted Gavin and Manda seated in the front chairs, with Patricia, Debbie, and a boy of about ten standing behind them. Patricia's face in this photo lacked the innocence and joy seen in the previous pictures. It seemed as if they were a family of four, with Patricia being the odd one out.

Debbie was a month older than Patricia, and the whistleblower had thoughtfully provided a well-detailed timeline for everyone. Isabella and Gavin had married in October, and Patricia was born the following year in October. Debbie's birth took place in September.

Tragically, Isabella suffered from depression and took her own life when Patricia was eight years old, just two months before Manda entered their lives. Manda married Gavin, taking with her an eight-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son.

Fearing the potential gossip, Debbie and her brother, Joe, had never changed their last names, presenting themselves as stepchildren. When Debbie turned nineteen, she had believed the rumors about Martin's sexual impotence and fled on the eve of their wedding.

Patricia, in a desperate situation, was appointed to marry Martin in Debbie's place. Two years later, Debbie and Martin got back together and kicked the pregnant Patricia out.

The timeline was clear, as if the whistleblower had lived through it personally.
