Chapter 853: Charles and Hannah Kiss
As they got closer, Hannah caught a whiff of a strange yet familiar scent. It was all him.
Totally different from Austin's vibe.
Austin always smelled like cool mint.
But this guy? He had this light, pleasant scent—maybe from his shampoo, body wash, or laundry detergent. It was subtle, not in-your-face, but super nice.
That scent was just so... him.
Hannah's breathing got heavier.
Her heart was pounding like crazy, drumming against her chest.
Thinking about what might happen next, her whole body tensed up.
But this time was different.
Last time, it was all fear and rejection; this time, it was nerves. No matter how much she tried to deny it, her heart and body were screaming the truth.
She had feelings for Charles.
She liked him.
And it hit her fast.
They'd only known each other for a week, way less time than she'd known Austin.
But she couldn't help how she felt about Charles.
She didn't even know when it started.
Lost in her thoughts, something cool, soft, and sweet brushed her lips. She wanted more.
At some point, Charles's hands had cupped her face.
Hannah stared at him, totally dazed.
Right then, her eyes were all about him.
As he got closer, he kissed her again, this time not pulling away immediately. No tongue, just lips pressed together, sharing each other's breath.
The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Their heartbeats and breathing got louder and louder in their ears.
Even though it was just lips touching, not a full-on kiss, it was so beautiful they didn't want to stop.
Hannah's hands gripped the bed, wrinkling the sheets.
Charles's heart was racing. It took everything in him to pull away.
Hannah looked at him, confused.
Why did he stop?
Didn't he want to kiss her?
Seeing the confusion in her eyes, Charles couldn't help but smile.
"I have a cold. I don't want to get you sick," he explained.
That was part of it.
The bigger reason? She was Austin's girlfriend.
Until she and Austin broke up, he couldn't go beyond being just friends.
Hannah felt a pang of disappointment.
Honestly, she didn't care.
The thought scared her.
Did she want Charles to kiss her? How could she think that? No, no, absolutely not. She couldn't think that. She couldn't.
Trying to calm herself, her eyes still drifted to Charles's lips.
They were so beautiful, sexy, and tempting.
Even though they were pale from being sick, they still had that charm. She wanted to bite them.
Noticing her staring, Charles instinctively licked his lips.
Hannah was puzzled.
A warm trickle started from her nose.
But she didn't notice, still zoning out on Charles's lips.
Seeing the nosebleed, Charles quickly grabbed a tissue from the bedside table.
"You're having a nosebleed. Did I get you sick?" he worried.
Hannah hadn't even reacted yet. It wasn't until she saw the blood on the tissue that she realized she'd been staring at his lips and got a nosebleed. Her face turned beet red.
Was she really that pervy?
She'd known Austin forever and had been engaged for almost two years, but she'd never fantasized about kissing him or anything more.
But she'd only known Charles for a week, and she already wanted to kiss him.
"Do you need to see a doctor?" Charles asked, still worried.
Hannah shook her head, "No need. Just need to wash with cold water."
Charles wasn't convinced, "No, you must..."
Before he could finish, the door suddenly swung open.
Stella burst in, "No need to go. She's fine. Just kiss her again, kiss her, and she won't have a nosebleed! Hurry up and kiss her, I'm waiting to see!"
Charles and Hannah both turned to look at Stella, who had just barged in.
Charles's face darkened, "When did you get here?"
From what she said, she must've been there for a while.
She actually hid and watched.
Stella didn't even try to hide it, "When you grabbed her and then cupped her face to kiss her."
Charles and Hannah's faces turned crimson.
"So, you've been watching from outside?" Charles's words were practically growled out.
Stella wasn't embarrassed at all and plopped down on the sofa, "Yeah! I didn't want to disturb you guys! So I didn't come in! Charles, you kiss without using your tongue. A cold isn't that serious, no need to worry about infecting Hannah!"
Stella said excitedly, "But it was quite thrilling just now. If I had popcorn, I would definitely sit on a chair, eating popcorn while watching. You guys finally made some progress, my efforts weren't in vain."
Hannah was mortified.
Charles gritted his teeth, "How did you get in?"
Why did she suddenly show up?
For the first time, he had the urge to strangle someone.
Stella grinned, "It was Patricia. She called me. She said you were sick and had a fever, and asked me to come check on you! She also told me the password to your door lock."
Charles was baffled.
Stella looked thrilled, "Patricia told me there was a woman with you, and I guessed it was Hannah! I said you two were a perfect match! You clearly like each other, why don't you admit it! Today, I've decided, I allow you to be together."
Hannah couldn't take it anymore. She stood up, grabbed Stella, and bolted out.
Charles was fuming at Stella's words.
His previously calm temples started throbbing again.
Stella's personality was just like Fannie's.
Now Patricia must think Hannah was his girlfriend.
The coming days were gonna be anything but peaceful.
