Chapter 1007 Great Stamina
A bath that lasted a full two hours.
When the two of them finally emerged from the bathroom, Hannah was so exhausted that she didn't even want to move her toes. She collapsed completely, letting Charles dry her off, carry her to the bed, and tuck her in.
She was so sleepy and just wanted to sleep. But her stomach was growling with hunger. Yet she didn't want to move.
Hannah asked, "How do you have so much energy?"
Charles grabbed a hairdryer, letting her rest her head on his lap as he gently dried her wet hair.
Charles replied, "I'm only twenty-seven. I'm in my prime! Cut me some slack!"
Hannah rolled her eyes at him, too tired to even speak.
There was no helping it.
She had brought this on herself, and now she had to endure it.
Charles leaned down, whispering in her ear, "Some things are more addictive than drugs, once you experience them."
Hannah's face turned bright red in an instant.
She simply closed her eyes and shut her mouth, refusing to look at or say anything.
She had no idea Charles had such a naughty side.
Seeing her reaction, Charles couldn't help but laugh. He gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek and continued drying her hair.
Once her hair was dry, he gently moved her head onto the pillow, put away the hairdryer, and said, "You rest for a bit. I'll go downstairs and bring you something to eat."
Hannah grabbed his hand. "Isn't that a bit much? What if your parents see?"
Charles told a little white lie, "My dad went out for drinks with his friends and my mom is playing cards with her friends. Fannie and the others went shopping. It's just us and the servants at home."
"Really?" Hannah looked at him with wide eyes, feeling something was off.
"When have I ever lied to you?" Charles gently brushed her hair back. "Just lie down and rest. There should be some food in the kitchen. I'll bring it up and we can eat together."
Thinking that he had never lied to her before, Hannah believed him and nodded obediently. "Okay!"
Charles left the room and went downstairs.
Fannie, Patricia, Maria, and Stella were playing cards.
Elijah sat behind Fannie, Martin behind Patricia, Declan behind Maria, and Randy behind Stella, watching the game.
Fannie, Patricia, and Maria were experts, while Stella was a newbie, constantly asking Randy for help.
Fannie was so sleepy waiting for her turn that she yawned and said, "If you really can't play, let Randy take over. You can watch and learn for a bit."
Stella's confidence was severely shaken, and she was about to let Randy take over when he ruffled her hair.
"Don't worry. Take your time! I'll teach you!" Then he looked at Fannie and said, "Everyone starts as a beginner! Take it slow! You were terrible when you first started, and I didn't mind."
Fannie looked at him in surprise. "Since when are you two so close? You're defending her like she's your wife!"
Stella wrapped her arm around Randy's and rested her head on his shoulder. "Randy just cares about me, so what? Are you jealous?"
Randy didn't deny it.
Fannie just shrugged it off and focused on her turn.
Stella got a good card and happily kissed Randy on the cheek. "Great, I finally got a good card!"
Randy looked at her with a gentle smile.
Charles watched this scene, feeling that Randy was being overly kind to Stella. Randy wasn't this patient with Fannie or Maria and didn't look at them with such tenderness either.
Charles felt that Randy treated Stella differently.
Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind, but he quickly dismissed it as ridiculous and shook his head to clear it.
Charles thought, 'They are cousins. It couldn't be. I'm definitely overthinking it.'
Patricia was the first to notice him and waved with a smile. "You're finally down! Where's Hannah? Get her to come down and play cards with us. You both haven't eaten all day and must be starving! There's soup on the stove and warm food! Hurry and eat something."
Charles replied, "No. Thanks! Hannah is tired. Let her rest for a bit. I'll bring the food up to her."
As soon as he said this, everyone exchanged knowing looks.
Fannie teased, "I always knew you'd be a doting husband, but I didn't expect you to be this doting, bringing food to bed! Hannah must be exhausted! Well, it's understandable. After all, you've been a virgin for so many years, so it must have been quite the ordeal."
Charles glanced at Elijah. "Are you talking about yourselves?"
Even though Fannie had thick skin, she couldn't prevent her from blushing. "I'm talking about you!"
Charles couldn't be bothered to argue with her. He rolled his eyes and went into the kitchen, placing the food on a tray and carrying it upstairs.
Hannah was very tired but too hungry to sleep, so she lay in bed staring blankly, too exhausted to even play with her phone.
Charles placed the tray on the bedside table and said, "My mom had some soup made for you!"
He said as he helped her sit up, propping her up with soft pillows, and fed her the soup himself.
Hannah didn't put up a fuss and let him feed her.
Charles smiled and asked, "How does it taste?"
Hannah nodded. "It tastes great!"
Just then, a scream came from outside the room. Hannah was startled and looked at the closed door, puzzled. "Why does it sound so noisy outside? Didn't you say they weren't home?"
Charles lied without missing a beat, "It's almost Christmas! The servants are doing a deep clean. That's probably the noise you heard. I just went down and confirmed they're not home."
Hannah believed him and didn't ask further.
She was really hungry.
She finished the soup and ate some other food before lying down contentedly.
Once she was done eating, Charles started his meal, chatting with her as he ate.
By the time he finished, Hannah had fallen asleep.
Charles tucked her in, gave her a gentle kiss on the forehead, and took the dishes out. After a while, he came back with a laptop.
While Hannah slept, he worked quietly beside her, keeping her company.
The atmosphere was warm and peaceful, a perfect moment of tranquility.
