Chapter 742 Going Home
Martin didn't want to hide anything from her. He knew the more he kept from Patricia, the more she'd worry. It was better to be honest.
"We think it's him, but we can't be sure yet," Martin said.
He paused before continuing, "Patricia, things are a mess in Country Y right now. The spy's still out there. I think you should take Hunter back to Sunset Bay."
Before he could finish, Patricia cut him off, "No way! I can't leave you here alone."
She knew Martin was worried about her safety, but she couldn't stand the thought of leaving him behind.
Martin smiled and ruffled her hair, "I'm not alone. Riley and Sebastian are here. You have to trust them."
Patricia shook her head, "No, I can't leave. I want to stay with you. Last time, because of Declan, you almost died. I can't let that happen again."
Martin chuckled, "That won't happen again!"
Knowing how stubborn she was, Martin tried a different way, "If it were just you, I wouldn't insist. But there's also Hunter and Kaleb. Kaleb's getting old. Do you want him to worry about you all the time?"
Seeing her expression changed, Martin pressed on, "And Hunter! He's not stable. When he's okay, it's fine, but if he gets mad, no one can handle him. This place is dangerous. Hunter shouldn't be here. What if he is used by someone bad?"
Patricia's resolve began to waver. Kaleb was getting old and had just been through the sufferring of Patricia being falsely accused of murder. He couldn't take more stress.
And Hunter's situation was special. Keeping him in the hotel was one thing, but what if he was used by someone, like what happened with Brooke?
Sending them back to Sunset Bay seemed like the best option. Seeing her hesitation, Martin held her hand and said softly, "I promise you, no matter what, I'll come back safely."
He paused, narrowing his eyes, "Besides, Hunter's no match for me."
An enemy in the shadows was scary because you never knew who they were or when they'd strike. But now that the enemy had shown themselves, they were easier to deal with.
Patricia finally nodded, "Alright, I'll take Hunter and my dad back to Sunset Bay."
She planned to return after settling them down but didn't dare say it out loud, fearing that Martin would object.
Seeing her agree, Martin sighed in relief, "I'll arrange everything and personally see you and Kaleb onto the plane."
Patricia said, "Alright."
Patricia started packing. Meanwhile, Martin called Kaleb to inform him about their plan.
Kaleb had missed his grandsons so much. Hearing they could go back, he happily agreed and started packing.
When Hunter wasn't crazy, he was very obedient.
The airport was crowded, and Patricia was afraid of losing him, so she bought a child safety leash, tying one end to her wrist and the other to Hunter's.
Kaleb met them at the airport. When he arrived with his suitcase and saw them, his smile froze, his gaze fixed on Hunter.
Kaleb asked, "Isn't he supposed to be dead?"
Patricia explained, "He's not Hunter, or rather, he's not our enemy Hunter. That one was a fake and this one is the real one. They're twin brothers."
The more she explained, the more confusing it got. Seeing Kaleb's puzzled expression, Patricia decided to stop, "It's complicated. I'll explain everything on the plane."
Kaleb didn't get a word of what she said. He only cared about one thing.
Kaleb said, "Will he hurt you again?"
Patricia shook her head firmly, "No, he won't! He's been really good. He even saved my life!"
She pulled Hunter out from behind her and coaxed, "Hunter, this is my dad. Call him Kaleb."
Hunter grinned foolishly at Kaleb and said, "Kaleb."
Kaleb felt with goosebumps all over. Seeing such an innocent look on the face of someone who had done so many bad things was surreal.
Martin said, "It's time. You should board the plane now."
Patricia looked at Martin reluctantly, "You have to promise! The kids and I will be waiting for you to come back."
Martin ruffled her hair and nodded, "I will definitely take care of myself!"
Kaleb pulled a prescription out of his pocket and handed it to Martin, "Your body is almost healed, but you still need to keep taking medicine. This is a new prescription I made for you, with instructions on how to prepare it. Follow it strictly, and you'll recover faster."
Martin said, "I understand."
Martin took the prescription and carefully placed it in his pocket.
"We're leaving now!" Patricia waved at Martin reluctantly.
Martin waved back, standing at the boarding gate, watching them leave until they were completely out of sight before turning away.
They were flying on the Koch family's private jet. Besides a few crew members, it was just Patricia, Hunter, and Kaleb.
Hunter sat close to Patricia, holding her arm with both hands and resting his head on her shoulder, like a child clinging to their mother.
Kaleb asked curiously, "Patricia, why are we leaving in such a hurry this time? Why isn't Martin coming back with us?"
Although he was happy to soon see his grandsons, he was still very worried about Martin.
Patricia didn't want him to worry and smiled, "He and Riley and Sebastian have some things to take care of! I need to take Hunter back for treatment first."
Mentioning Hunter, Kaleb remembered, "What's going on? Didn't Martin say Hunter was dead? How is he alive again? And..."
And he looked like he had a brain injury.
Patricia glanced at Hunter, feeling his steady breathing, and then dared to speak, explaining the whole story to Kaleb.
Kaleb, having witnessed Hunter's despicable actions, couldn't help but feel worried.
Kaleb asked, "He's really not that Hunter?"
He was truly afraid Patricia would get hurt again.
Patricia smiled and nodded, "I'm sure! I saw the fake Hunter being pushed into the furnace with my own eyes. There's no mistake."
Hearing this, Kaleb finally felt relieved.
After all the turmoil, Patricia was very tired and sleepy, but when she closed her eyes, she couldn't fall asleep. She was worried about Riley and Sebastian, and also very concerned about Martin. She wondered how the Koch family was doing. Had the spy been caught? The Koch family's situation had caused such a stir, with news everywhere. She wondered if Shane and Ariel had seen the news. If they had, they would be very worried.
Lost in her thoughts, Patricia finally fell in sleep.
Thirteen hours later, the plane landed at Sunset Bay Airport. As Patricia led Hunter and Kaleb out of the airport, they were greeted by Ryan and Daisy standing in the crowd.
After a long separation, Daisy ran over crying and hugged her tightly, "Patricia, you're finally back! Do you know how much I've missed you?"
Patricia pushed her away in surprise, looking at her and Ryan. "Why are you here?"
Daisy glanced at her, "Of course, Martin called us and told us you'd be arriving in Sunset Bay at this time and asked us to pick you up."
Taking her hand, she said, "Come on, let's go home."
Hearing the word 'home,' Patricia felt a pang in her heart, a wave of intense longing washing over her. Finally, she could go home. Finally, she could see her children.
