Chapter 727 Taking Revenge for his Boss

Patricia glared at him, her voice dripping with sarcasm, "If you're so tough, why don't you show your face? Or are you too scared to take off that mask?"

Rock smirked, his lips curling up, "Trying to get under my skin?"

Patricia didn't back down, "Yeah, I am. What, are you scared? Or can you handle a crowd but not a woman like me?"

Instead of getting mad, Rock seemed intrigued. He slowly removed his mask, revealing his face.

The guy was dark-skinned, rugged, with thick eyebrows and big eyes. He was built like a tank, more imposing than any bodyguard.

"Are you here to capture me for Hunter?" Patricia asked, then quickly shook her head, "No, if you were working for Hunter, you wouldn't be chatting with me."

Rock chuckled, "You're smarter than I thought."

Patricia pressed on, "Did you kill Billy Hill too?"

Her tone was more of a statement than a question.

Rock didn't deny it.

Patricia analyzed, "Billy was tough, not someone who'd go down easy. Yet he drowned without a fight. The person who did it had to be someone he trusted or someone stronger."

"I saw you on the surveillance screen yesterday, rescuing Hunter from a bunch of bodyguards. That's when I started suspecting you," Patricia said.

Rock nodded, "Yeah, I killed him. I drowned him myself. He was weak, and I ended him in minutes."

Patricia's eyes blazed with anger. "Why did you kill him? He had no quarrel with you. Did Hunter order you to do it?"

Rock's voice turned cold, "Blame his own stupidity for trusting the wrong person."

Patricia's eyes widened, "What do you mean? Who did he trust? Was it Hunter?"

She couldn't think of anyone else who could deceive Billy. Billy, Joe's son, was capable in every way, except he was too kind-hearted.

Desperate to find out the truth, Patricia pushed further.

Rock shrugged, "I don't know. I'm only here for revenge for my boss. Nothing else matters to me."

Patricia was stunned, "Revenge for your boss? Me?"

Rock stared at her expressionlessly and silently.

Patricia frowned, "Is your boss Hunter?"

Rock sneered, "Hunter and I just have a business deal. He doesn't control me. My boss's name was Sean, and you killed him two years ago."

Patricia shook her head vehemently, "That's impossible! I've never killed anyone in my life."

She had never killed anyone, not even during surgeries that failed.

Rock, expecting her denial, pulled out a work card and tossed it at her.

"Is this yours?"

Patricia picked it up in confusion.

It read 'Sunset Bay Hospital, Cardiac Surgeon, Professor Patricia Langley.'

Her name was written prominently and boldly.

"This work card is mine. How did you get it?"

As she admitted, without a word, he whipped out a dagger from his thigh and lunged at her.

Startled, Patricia dodged, and the dagger stabbed into the bedsheet.

She bolted, shouting, "Yes, it's my work card, but I don't know Sean! I leave my work card at the hospital. Anyone could've taken it. You can't just assume I killed Sean because of this."

Raising her voice, she continued, "After all, I've never met Sean. I don't know if he's a man or a woman, fat or thin, old or young! I have no reason to kill him."

"No murderer admits his crime!"

Rock saw her defense as a clever ploy. He thought Patricia's denial was attributed to the fear of revenge.

Rock licked the dagger, watching her like a mouse played by a cat.

He was the cat and Patricia was the mouse.

The more she ran, the more excited he got.

For him, it was fun to drive the people to the wall and watch her dying in despair.

He calmly watched her running, and just as she reached the door, he lunged again.

Terrified, Patricia's legs gave way and she slipped on the floor.

Rock's dagger pierced the door, but he calmly withdrew it, running his finger along the blade.

As Patricia shuffled away, she defiantly said, "I didn't kill Sean. If you kill me, the real culprit will go free! I may die, but would you be content being tricked like a fool?"

Rock paused, frowning, "Tricked?"

Despite trembling, Patricia forced composure, "Why not? You're accusing me based on a work card anyone could have. Isn't that absurd?"

"First, I don't know Sean."

"Second, two years ago in September, I fell into the sea and was found on a deserted island, then spent days in the hospital. You can check the records."

"Third, I lost my work card in September two years ago. I thought it was the cleaning staff who lost it. Now, it's clear that someone took it to frame me."

"Fourth, I'm just a defenseless woman with limited strength. If Sean was skilled, how could I, a weak person, kill him? September two years ago. I remember it vividly."

Because in September two years ago, Charles was kidnapped, and she fell into the sea, so the memory was fresh.

To be precise, since returning to Sunset Bay, she remembered everything clearly.

Rock was confused after hearing her explanation.

Patricia pressed on, "My injury caused a stir. The hospital has records, and if you check the news from that time, you'll find information. Martin mobilized all of Sunset Bay's search teams to find me. Even helicopters were deployed. Although news about me was suppressed, you may not find it, but such a sensational event would have been reported. If you don't believe me, just check the news archives from that time."
