Chapter 717 Martin Beats Up Hunter
Patricia knew something was wrong the moment she saw Martin's pale face. "Can't reach him?"
Martin shook his head, "Nope. Ryan said he'd let me know when he got to Sunset Bay, but I've heard nothing."
Patricia patted his shoulder, "Don't worry. I'll get Charles to track him down. Maybe we can find some clues."
With no other options, Martin pulled out his phone and called Charles, but he was at school. So, Martin called Alan, asking him to bring a computer to Charles.
An hour later, Charles called back, "Dad, Mom, what's up?" They called him frequently in recent days.
Patricia didn't hold back, "Ryan went to the U.S. to help your father find someone, and now we can't reach him. We're worried. Can you track his phone?"
Charles sighed, "You think I can do anything, huh?"
Patricia shot back, "Can't you?"
Her words made Charles happy.
Charles chuckled, "Alright, alright. I'll check it out. You wait here while I track him."
Patricia brightened, "You can do this?"
"Yeah, of course I can. I can track his phone number," Charles said.
"But his phone's off," Patricia pointed out.
"I can still find the last place when his phone was on and check street cameras to find him," Charles explained. "But if there are no cameras, I can't do much."
"Okay, go for it," Patricia urged.
This was their only hope. They needed cameras. They needed to find Ryan.
"Wait a moment. If I need to check cameras, it might take a while. I'll let you know if I find anything. Don't worry."
"Okay!"
After the call, Patricia saw Martin's worried face, "Charles said not to worry. He'll do his best."
Martin just nodded insilent. If something happened to Ryan because of him, he'd never forgive himself.
Time passed on. Time dragged so slowly when they were waiting. Every minute was as long as a century.
Finally, Charles called back with a video call. Patricia answered quickly, "Any news?"
Charles shook his head, "No. I found where Ryan's phone turned off, but it's in the suburbs with no cameras."
Patricia lost her hope. Charles said in down mood, "Sorry, mom. I can't help."
Patricia comforted him, "It's not your fault, Charles. It just means the person we're dealing with is cunning."
The person did in the same way just as Hunter.
They liked to do bad things in somewhere with no cameras.
They were like maggots in dark and damp places.
Charles asked, "What about Ryan? Could something have happened to him?"
Patricia didn't want Charles to worry, "Don't worry. We'll figure it out. You just focus on your studies. Leave the adult stuff to us."
"Okay," Charles replied obediently, different as usual. This situation had really shaken him.
Patricia hung up and turned around, only to find Martin had gone. She stood up, alarmed. Where did he go? Could he have gone to the U.S. to find Ryan?
She dared not let herself think about it and ran out, bumping into Kaleb, who was anxious.
"Patricia, I just saw Martin at the end of the hallway. What's going on? He was furious, saying he was going to kill Hunter. Is he okay?"
He was all right and peaceful in last two days.
Why he suddenly wanted to kill Hunter?
"Dad, I'll explain later! I need to find Martin first!"
Hunter was now Joe's son.
No matter it was true or not, Joe had recognized him and would protect Hunter.
If Martin went after him, he would be against Joe.
When Patricia reached the wine cellar, Martin had Hunter pinned to the ground, punching his face hard.
"Where's Ryan?" Martin demanded.
Hunter licked his split lip and smirked, "What? Your fellow's missing?"
After hearing that, Martin steamed up, and he punched Hunter again, "You scum. Tell me where Ryan is, or I'll tear you apart."
Hunter just smiled, "Go ahead, kill me. At least I won't be alone in hell."
"You bastard!" Martin was fuming with anger as he kept punching Hunter.
"Where is Ryan? Where is he?" Martin shouted testily, losing his mind.
Martin exerted all his strength to punch on Hunter.
For a while, Hunter's face was seriously swollen, but he didn't beg for mercy. He just lay there, taking the hits.
Patricia feared Martin might actually kill Hunter. Just as she was about to pull away Martin, Joe rushed in, pushing Martin aside, "What are you doing?"
Susan and Carol followed Joe into the room.
Martin tried to punch Hunter again, but Patricia held him back, "I know you're angry, but if you kill him, we might never find Ryan!"
Martin, still furious, stopped hitting Hunter.
Joe looked at Hunter's swollen face, anger boiling inside him, "Mr. Langley, can you explain this to me?"
Though angry, Joe held it back. They have worked together and he admired Martin's abilities so he was usually tolerant towards him.
Susan, seeing Joe protected Hunter, was angry, "What? Feeling bad seeing him beaten up?"
Joe snapped, "Of course not!"
Joe wasn't feeling bad, but Hunter was his son. Even hitting a dog should ask its owner. Beating Hunter was like slapping Joe's face!
