Chapter 14 Debbie Refused By Martin
Martin slightly furrowed his eyebrows, subconsciously wanting to pull his hand away. He hesitated for a moment, as if recalling something, but ultimately didn't move.
Seeing that he didn't resist, Debbie grew bolder. "Why weren't you at the hospital with Randy tonight?"
At the mention of Randy, Martin was reminded of the recent frustration, and his expression darkened. "Patricia is with him now, he doesn't need me."
His tone was filled with jealousy and even a hint of grievance, as if someone had snatched away his carefully nurtured treasure. After confirming that he didn’t need to accompany Randy tonight, Debbie’s breathing became heavier.
As Martin parked the car in front of her home, she boldly took his hand and cupped her own face with it. "Martin, let's go upstairs and have a cup of coffee! My parents haven't seen you in a long time, they really miss you."
Martin detected the hidden implication in her words and retracted his hand with disdain. "It's late, they must be asleep by now. I'll visit them another day."
Debbie tightly bit her lower lip, unwilling to let go of this rare opportunity. "Don't bother them, you can come up and accompany me! Since the engagement, we haven't had a chance to spend time alone!"
Martin felt nauseated and repulsed by her invitation. He withdrew his hand and a trace of impatience appeared between his eyebrows. "I'm busy with work recently, I don't have time to be with you. If you're bored, you can find someone to go shopping with."
He handed her a black card, clearly refusing her, firmly. Debbie felt utterly embarrassed, her face instantly flushed red. But she couldn't let go and still called out, "Martin..."
Martin unlocked the car. "It's late, I have to go back. There are matters waiting for me at the company."
The intent to drive her away was evident. Reluctantly, Debbie opened the car door and took a few slow steps forward.
Her unwillingness persisted, circling round to the front of the car, she approached the driver's seat. Opening the door, she bent down and hooked her arms around Martin's neck, leaning in to kiss his thin lips.
Martin squinted his eyes sharply and blocked her with his hand. Her red lips landed squarely in the palm of his hand. The scent of Debbie's perfume lingered around Martin's nose, causing him to feel a wave of nausea.
"It's getting late! You should go up now," Debbie, feeling wronged, her eyes turning red. She wanted to ask him why he treated her this way, but she was afraid of being unable to bear the consequences.
Trying to control her fears she, forcefully tugging at the corners of her mouth, and gave herself an excuse, "This is a goodnight kiss! Goodnight! Be careful on your way."
Martin didn't respond to her, Debbie let go of him and closed the car door. Not lingering, Martin drove away. As she watched the car disappear, Debbie couldn't hold it in any longer. She screamed out loud, releasing the anger that was building up inside her.
Hearing the commotion, Manda hurried downstairs. Seeing that her daughter was in a bad mood, she quickly embraced her and asked with concern, "Debbie, what happened? I saw Mr. Langley escorting you back just now, why didn't you invite him in for a while?"
Remembering Martin's attitude just now, Debbie felt her chest tighten with anger. "Mom, that bitch Patricia is back! Ever since she came back, Martin's attitude towards me has completely changed."
Manda widened her eyes, "Patricia is back? When did she come back?"
Debbie recounted everything that had happened today to Manda. The more she spoke, the darker Manda's expression became.
"That bitch, if only she hadn't survived five years ago. Instead, she left behind that bastard Randy, making it impossible for you to marry into the Langley family."
Debbie narrowed her eyes coldly, clenching her hands into fists. "I absolutely won't let her take away what's mine."
Thinking that she had come up with a plan, Manda couldn't help but ask eagerly, "Do you have a way?"
Debbie sneered and took out her phone, playing the video that intern Gladys had sent her.
The video showed the entire confrontation between her and Patricia in the parking lot today. She didn't expect Gladys to be so fortunate, happening to be at the parking lot and capturing the whole incident on her dashcam.
This time, she would ruin Patricia's reputation completely.
...
The next day, at the break of dawn, news of Patricia assaulting Debbie exploded on the hospital forum. The video intentionally muted the audio, cutting out unnecessary parts, showing the scene from Debbie falling to the ground to Patricia slapping her and walking away.
Although their conversation couldn't be heard, judging from the video content, Patricia was dominant and bullying, while Debbie looked pitiful, helpless, being bullied by Patricia.
The video spread throughout the entire hospital. The comments section was even more unbearable. There were those who simply read the gossip, and some who deliberately sought to arouse anger.
There was a comment from the 24th floor, ‘I am confused, Why did Professor. Watson hit Professor. Brown? Isn't it Professor. Watson's first day on the job? ‘
The 28th floor replied the 24th floor, ‘Professor. Brown's fiancé Mr. Langley is also there, could it be jealousy?’
The 31st floor replied to the 28th floor, ‘Mr. Langley is excellent, could Professor. Watson be anxious on her first day on the job. Is it possible? "
38th floor responded with, ‘I got a tip through the grapevine, that Professor. Watson managed to get the little devil of the Langley family, to behave obediently on her first day in office yesterday."
‘The famous little devil, even with Mr. Langley, he isn’t obedient. And Professor. Watson can handle him on the first day, what do you think? What means did she use?’
The 50th floor replied the 38th floor, ‘Fuck, it seems that this Professor. Watson has the means. Is she going to take the fiancé of Professor. Brown?"
The 66th floor replied to the 50th floor, ‘Robbing nephews and fiancé, this Professor. Watson is good. If you have the ability, beauty is definitely the currency here."
80th floor, "She mustn’t sleep while she climbs to such a high position, does she?"
Another floor continued the comments, ‘I was talking to my friend, who is from the same hospital as Professor. Watson. They don’t know anything about her. There is no Natalie there, no famous Professor. Watson! Whoever this person, this Professor. Watson is, is a cheat and a liar, isn't she?’
The 85th floor replied to the 80th floor, ‘There is something going on here. Did she sleep her way to the top? Otherwise how could someone so young become a full professor."
And another responded, ‘I heard that her teacher was Mr. Melville. A really wealthy woman from there, she said that there must be a shady relationship between the teachers and students.’
More comments kept being posted under the video, someone from the 99th floor wrote, ‘Let me tell you another piece of breaking news. Last night, Professor. Watson stayed in Randy's ward all night.’
Floor 111 replied to the 99th floor, ‘Fuck, progress is so fast, isn’t she ashamed in front of the children?’
The 130th floor replied to the 111th floor, ‘Will an ashamed woman sell her body?’
This comment added more fuel to the, already blazing, fire,
‘That's right!’
‘Clearly, there is a really big piece shit in the hospital, tarnishing the reputation of our doctors.’
Things were getting worse and worse, with each comment that appeared on the thread. From the dean to the patients, the gossip was known all over the hospital. But Patricia didn’t know.
