Chapter 785 Separation
That night, Charles couldn't sleep and finally dozed off in the early morning.
He had barely slept when the door quietly opened.
Violet tiptoed in, saw Charles was still asleep, and climbed into bed beside him, staring at him.
Charles was really handsome.
The more she looked, the more handsome he seemed.
No matter how often she saw him, she never got tired of it.
Charles was so exhausted he didn't notice Violet and kept sleeping deeply.
Time passed quietly, and soon Violet, who had just woken up, fell asleep again.
The snow outside had stopped.
Sunlight streamed through the window, bathing her in its glow.
When Charles opened his eyes, he saw Violet sleeping beside him, bathed in white light. He thought he was dreaming and smiled.
Then, realizing something, his smile froze. He sat up abruptly, covering his lower body with the blanket, afraid she might see something.
"Why are you in my room?" he stammered, his voice trembling.
Violet woke up, rubbing her eyes as she groggily sat up.
"Charles, what's wrong?"
Charles's face turned as red as a boiled shrimp, spreading to his ears.
"Don't you have your own room? Why did you come to mine?"
Ever since Violet turned five, he had kept his distance and never shared a bed with her again.
He never expected Violet to sneak into his room.
When had she come in? How long had she been sleeping?
Violet slowly woke up, yawning, "I came to wake you up this morning, but you were still asleep. I didn't want to wake you, and I accidentally fell asleep beside you."
Noticing Charles seemed overreacting, she felt hurt, "Charles, what's the matter? Do you not like me being in your room? Do you hate me?"
Afraid she might misunderstand, Charles quickly said, "No! How could I hate you? You can wake me up anytime! Just don't sleep beside me. It's cold, and you might catch a cold."
Violet, being simple-minded, believed him immediately, "I understand!"
Charles lifted the blanket and checked his pants, making sure everything was in order before getting out of bed.
"I'll wash up. You wait for me downstairs."
"Okay!" Violet nodded and left the room.
Watching her leave, Charles sighed in relief.
That was close.
Luckily, he had the blanket covering him. Otherwise, it would have been hard to explain to Violet.
Charles took his clothes and went into the bathroom.
By the time he finished washing up and went downstairs, half an hour had passed.
Everyone was sitting at the dining table, waiting for him.
Seeing him come down, Violet excitedly patted the seat next to her, "Charles, come sit here."
Charles smiled and sat down next to her.
Once everyone was seated, they began to eat.
Martin took a bite of meat and asked, "Have you made up your mind?"
He had given him just one night to decide.
Not a day more.
Charles paused for a moment, then calmly continued eating.
"I've made up my mind! I agree with your proposal!"
Seeing him finally agree, Martin's expression softened.
"You'll thank me for this one day!"
Charles said firmly, "I don't need to wait for the future. I know you're doing this for my own good! So, I accept your proposal! You're right. Only by becoming stronger can I protect those I care about."
He wanted to protect not just Violet, but his whole family.
So, he needed to get really strong.
Violet didn't get what they were talking about and just focused on her breakfast.
But Fannie sensed something was off.
She looked at Charles, confused, "Charles, what did you agree to with Martin?"
She couldn't figure it out.
Charles glanced at Violet beside him, signaling with his eyes for Fannie to keep quiet.
This only confirmed Fannie's suspicions.
Something was definitely up.
However, with Violet there, she didn't press the matter.
After breakfast, Charles took Violet to play in the garden.
Fannie immediately cornered Martin to ask what was going on.
When she found out Charles was preparing to study abroad, she felt sad but ultimately agreed.
After all, Charles was so smart. He didn't belong in their current high schools.
Although Charles agreed to study abroad, he wanted to stay in Sunset Bay for one more week.
During that week, he took Violet to every place in Sunset Bay.
Violet wasn't good at math, so he summarized all the key points of elementary school math for her, organizing and annotating the problem-solving processes and steps in his own way.
Violet didn't know how Charles found the time to play with her.
She only knew that these past few days had made her incredibly happy.
Since Charles started participating in competitions, they hadn't spent this much time together!
The seven days flew by.
To avoid making Violet sad, on the night before leaving Sunset Bay, Charles made sure to take Violet home. He didn't want to see her cry, fearing he wouldn't be able to leave.
In the morning, after the family had breakfast together, Martin and Patricia personally drove Charles to the airport.
Fannie, Maria, and Declan also went along to see Charles off.
What Charles didn't know was that as soon as he left, Violet arrived.
The two cars passed each other on the road.
Violet happily went to Sunshine Manor to find Charles, only to discover that no one was home.
She grabbed the butler, David, and asked, "David, where's Charles? Why is no one home?"
David looked at her in surprise, "Charles is going abroad, didn't you know, Violet?"
Violet was stunned, "He is?"
The butler nodded, puzzled, "Yes! Didn't you know? They just left! His flight is at ten o'clock! Mr. Langley personally took Charles to the airport."
Violet was completely dumbfounded, and tears immediately started to fall.
"Why didn't Charles ever tell me?"
David quickly realized he had said something wrong and hurriedly tried to console her. "Maybe Charles had his reasons! Violet, don't cry, I'll..."
Before he could finish, Violet had already run out and jumped into the Moore family's car, which was about to leave.
Carter was about to drive to the office when he saw Violet return. He was momentarily stunned and teased her, "What? Finally realized Charles isn't as good as me?"
Violet cried, "Carter, go to the airport, quickly! Charles is going abroad to study! I need to catch him."
Hearing that Charles was going abroad, Carter slammed on the gas pedal.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure you catch him!"
Violet was terrified that Charles would really leave, curling up in the seat and crying her heart out.
