Chapter 942 Hannah Receives an Anonymous Video

After finally getting Violet off that fence, everyone let out a big ol' sigh of relief.

Lassie rushed over, yanked her from Charles' arms, and squeezed her tight. She was mad as hell that Violet didn't value her own life, but she couldn't bring herself to scold her. "Violet, don't you ever scare me like that again. I can't handle it! It took me forever to find you. If something happened to you, how would Carter and I go on?"

Once Charles promised everything would be okay, Violet calmed down. She let Lassie hold her, looking up with a guilty face. "Mommy, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I just can't control myself."

Carter gave her a gentle pat on the back. "It's not your fault!"

After a bit, Violet wriggled out of Lassie's arms and made a beeline for Charles again.

Lassie glanced at Carter.

Carter gave a slight nod, signaling her to let go.

At this point, if they wanted to get her to the hospital, they'd need Charles' help!

Lassie let go, and Violet immediately threw herself into Charles' arms, nuzzling her cheek against his chest. "Charles, I don't wanna go back. I wanna stay here with you. I wanna be with you forever."

Charles stood there, hands spread out, not daring to hug her but also not daring to push her away, looking like a total robot.

Carter saw he was struggling and quickly stepped in. "Let's go to the hospital for a check-up first!"

Hearing "hospital," Violet's first reaction was to shake her head. "I don't wanna go. I wanna stay with Charles."

Carter sighed, "But Charles wants you to go to the hospital. He'll go with you! Be good. Charles likes people who listen."

Violet looked up at Charles. "Really?"

Charles nodded. "Yeah! Let's go to the hospital for a check-up. It's not scary. I'll be with you the whole time."

After all this fuss, Violet wasn't so against the idea of the hospital anymore. She nodded and smiled. "Okay, I'll listen to Charles. I'll go to the hospital!"

Charles let out a secret sigh of relief and shot Wyatt a look.

He was sweating bullets dealing with Violet and felt totally out of his depth.

Wyatt quietly slipped away.

Charles gently pulled Violet out of his arms and handed her over to Lassie.

Lassie got the hint and held her hand tight, scared she might bolt again.

Wyatt drove them to the hospital.

By now, the hospital was almost closing, and there weren't many patients around.

Wyatt got the best specialist for Violet and took them straight to the doc's office.

The test results were the same as before.

Violet had taken a nasty hit to the head a few years back, causing some serious memory loss. All her current issues were from that head injury and some major psychological trauma.

The past kidnapping had left her with deep psychological scars. To protect herself, she didn't want to remember that time, so every time she tried, her head would hurt.

Charles asked Lassie to take Violet out, and he and Carter stayed behind to ask the doc, "So what can we do? How can we fix her?"

The doc sighed, "In this case, meds can only help a bit. She has to face it herself. If she keeps avoiding those memories, she might never fully recover."

Charles' brow furrowed. "Never?"

"Never recover? Will I never be able to explain things clearly?" Charles thought, feeling a knot in his stomach.

The doc nodded. "She needs daily psychological therapy. That could help her get better."

Carter chimed in, "We have the same treatment plan back in Sunset Bay! She didn't even remember you at first, but therapy helped. Lately, though, she’s been refusing to go."

The doc explained, "She might've remembered some scary stuff and started avoiding it. If she doesn't cooperate, treatment's gonna be tough."

The doc paused, then added, "Honestly, if it’s not messing up her life, you don’t have to force her to remember those bad memories. It’d be really painful for her."

Carter went quiet, not expecting things to turn out like this.

If he’d known Violet’s memory would stop here, he wouldn’t have pushed her to remember when he brought her back.

Sometimes, forgetting was a blessing.

But now, things were a mess.

Her mind was all about Charles.

Charles had a new girlfriend. But Violet couldn’t be a normal person and couldn’t handle any stress.

What now?

Charles gave Carter a deep look. Though he didn’t say anything, he was thinking the same thing.

He still wanted to explain things to Violet! But now, it was all messed up.

Seeing their troubled faces, the doc spoke up again, "No need to rush. If you want her to get her memory back, take it slow. Rushing it before backfired. We just got a famous psychologist here. You can try him." He pulled a business card from his drawer and handed it over. "He’s not with our hospital. This is his clinic’s address. Give it a shot! But he’s a bit quirky and treats patients based on his mood."

"Alright! Thanks!" Charles said, taking the card.

After leaving the doc’s office, the two stood in the hallway, not saying a word, their faces heavy with worry.

After a bit, Carter found his voice and patted Charles on the shoulder, feeling guilty. "Charles, I’m sorry. I didn’t think it’d turn out like this."

Charles tried to comfort him, "It’s not your fault. No one saw this coming."

Carter sighed deeply, "What do we do now? Violet only remembers you and nothing else. She doesn’t want treatment. If she never remembers, does that mean you’ll have to stay with her forever? No, we can’t be that selfish. Lassie and I will take her back to Sunset Bay."

Charles held his shoulder. "Don’t rush. Let’s try the psychologist the doc mentioned. Maybe he can help Violet!"

Carter said gloomily, "But if Violet doesn’t want treatment, it won’t matter if he agrees."

Charles said, "Let’s get the doc to agree first. I’ll find a way to make Violet agree."

Carter felt even more guilty. "Charles, I’m sorry for dragging you into this! I’ll help explain things to Hannah. I won’t let Violet mess up your relationship."

Charles thought for a moment and figured this might be the best plan.

Hannah wasn’t willing to listen to him right now. Maybe she’d listen to Carter.

But what he didn’t expect was that at this very moment, Hannah got an anonymous message on her phone. The message had a video, the one secretly filmed on the hotel rooftop.
