Chapter 654 The Real Criminal
Patricia stood in the ICU, feeling guilty, Kaleb went to Martin's ward first.
Seeing him suddenly arrive, both Martin and Ryan were stunned.
Ryan asked in confusion, "Kaleb, why are you here?"
Ryan was angry that Kaleb didn't save Martin when he had the ability to. Because of that inexplicable curse, Kaleb didn't lend a helping hand. But Ryan also knew that Patricia pretending to be someone's daughter was indeed not good, so he didn't give Kaleb a hard time and continued to speak to him politely.
Martin glanced at Ryan and asked Kaleb, "How is Mr. Reed? Has he passed the critical period?"
"He has! Thanks to Patricia!" Kaleb answered.
Kaleb pulled a chair to Martin's bedside and began to examine his body.
Although he didn't say anything, he was very serious, and no one disturbed him.
After examining his upper body, Kaleb checked his lower body.
After completing the full examination, he said to Ryan, "Let me see the medications he's currently taking."
Even if Ryan was a bit slow, he understood his intention, knowing that Kaleb was preparing to save Martin again, so he immediately handed him the packaged medications.
Kaleb opened the medication pack, poured out all the pills, inspecting each one carefully.
"These medications are no longer suitable; they need to be changed."
Ryan fell silent.
Of course, he knew they needed to be changed.
The medications Kaleb prescribed for Martin should have been changed within three days.
It had been three days since Patricia's deception was exposed.
Martin's medications should have been changed long ago.
They had no choice!
If no one changed the medications, they would have to continue with the old ones.
Having something to take was better than having nothing.
Kaleb continued, "Also, his IV fluids need to be changed!"
Ryan remained silent.
Martin understood his intention and said with a smile, "Thank you, Kaleb!"
Just after their argument, now Kaleb was treating Martin again, which was quite strange. When he spoke, his eyes seemed lost.
"After today's treatment, there's no need for further Iv fluids tomorrow. I'll have the doctor change your medications! As for the medications, I'll go back now to prepare them! I'll have the butler deliver them later."
"Thank you!"
Ryan also thanked him happily, "Thank you, Kaleb."
Hearing that he was willing to save Martin again, Ryan also became polite and grateful.
Kaleb gave him a meaningful glance, nodded awkwardly, and left the ward.
Watching him leave, Ryan was so happy he almost jumped up.
"Martin, that's great, he's willing to save you again! This Maximilian's accident was too coincidental. Otherwise, with Kaleb's stubbornness, he probably wouldn't have saved you until you were dead."
Martin glared at him. "Shut up! If others hear you, they might think we caused the accident."
Ryan realized his mistake from his momentary joy and immediately closed his mouth, miming zipping it shut.
Martin sighed helplessly and said nothing more.
The next day.
The Hill Residence.
Joe, Susan, Lisa, and Billy sat together for breakfast.
Lisa ate breakfast without much appetite and said to Joe, "Dad, you don't need to prepare my lunch today, I want to go see Maximilian at noon."
Due to crying all night, her eyes were red and swollen, filled with bloodshot veins. Fortunately, she had just applied ice to them, so they looked much better.
Susan asked, "Are you okay?"
Lisa shook her head. "I'm fine, just worried about Maximilian!"
Susan emphasized, "Maximilian is still in the ICU! He can't have lunch with you, you can go after lunch."
Lisa shook her head. "No, I'll buy some lunch and eat with Patricia."
She had been busy with her internship these days.
Eating at the hospital would allow her to spend more time with Martin.
Lisa added, "The outside food isn't clean, I'll get the kitchen to prepare a meal for you to take to Patricia! Bring her some food. She's been there for three days and needs to replenish her nutrition! So that when Maximilian wakes up, she won't fall ill."
Lisa thought her mother's suggestion made sense and agreed.
Joe looked at his son, who had been silently eating breakfast on his left, and asked, "Billy, how's your investigation going?"
He knew his son too well.
His expression was off.
There must be something on his mind.
Was Maximilian's car really tampered with?
Billy was distracted. When his name was suddenly called, he was startled and let out an, "Ah," before taking a while to regain his composure and say, "I haven't found any issues yet."
Joe asked, "No issues at all? Or have you not finished the investigation?"
Billy couldn't meet his father's eyes, kept his head down pretending to focus on his breakfast, and nervously said, "No, I haven't finished checking. So far, we've only found that the fuel tank leaked, causing the explosion! As for the rest, we haven't discovered anything yet! The car was so badly burned that it's tricky to investigate, so it will take some time."
Joe naturally believed his son and asked, "What's wrong? What were you thinking just now? Did something happen at the company? Or are you facing some trouble?"
Billy shook his head. "Nothing's wrong, the company is fine too! I just didn't sleep well last night, so I'm a bit out of it."
Susan immediately worried, "Then don't go to the company later, go upstairs and rest first! Don't end up like Maximilian, both your dad and I would worry."
Billy paused his breakfast for a moment, then nodded.
After breakfast, Joe went to work.
Susan made plans to go shopping with a few friends, which had been arranged a few days ago. Even though she wasn't in the mood, her friends had come back from abroad after more than ten years, so she had to keep the appointment.
After taking Billy upstairs to his room, she had the driver take her to meet her friends.
Lisa, worried about Maximilian, went to the hospital after breakfast, "Patricia, how is Maximilian? Was he okay last night?"
Patricia nodded reassuringly. "Don't worry, he's recovering well so far, nothing has happened."
Lisa was still somewhat concerned. "Does this mean Maximilian is out of the critical period? Will everything be fine from now on?"
Patricia paused, not wanting her to worry too much, and smiled. "It should be! Don't worry, I'm here, I won't let anything happen to him! You have class this morning, so go ahead!"
With her reassurance, Lisa breathed a sigh of relief.
"I'll go ask for leave from school later! I'll stay at the hospital to take care of Maximilian these days," Lisa said.
She hadn't told her parents about this decision yet, fearing they wouldn't agree, so she decided to act first and inform them later.
Concerned, Patricia asked, "Will this affect your studies?"
Lisa confidently replied, "No! I'm smart, I'll catch up on my studies after I go back."
Seeing her confidence, Patricia didn't say anything more.
After staying a while longer, Lisa left.
Meanwhile.

In Billy's room.
He looked at the information sent to his phone, his expression cold and frightening.
