Chapter 1106 Austin Harbored Deadly Intentions Towards Violet

Patricia and Martin left with Stella. Randy followed them as well. Outside the ICU, only Lassie and Charles were left.

Lassie had just had her blood drawn and was too emotional earlier. Now she felt dizzy. She sat on the bench, leaned her head against the wall, and closed her eyes to rest.

Charles was hunched over, his elbows on his thighs, holding his face in his hands.

The silence outside the ICU was terrifying. Neither Lassie nor Charles spoke.

After a while, Lassie spoke first. "Was it Violet who hit Hannah with the car?" Out of habit, she hadn't changed the name yet.

Charles responded with a heavy sigh.

Lassie slowly opened her eyes, and for the first time, they were filled with overwhelming hatred.

"Promise me, no matter what, you must catch her! Since she dared to impersonate Violet, it proves she knows Hannah is my biological daughter. She knew it and still hurt Hannah again and again. And those vague memories she has about Violet! She's not the real Violet, so why does she remember things about Violet?"

She added, "There must be someone behind her. Otherwise, how would she know things that happened to Violet when she was young, or that you and Violet were childhood sweethearts? I must catch the mastermind behind this. I want to kill him."

She felt as if they were trapped in a giant web of conspiracy, with someone hiding behind it, watching their every move and manipulating them.

She was determined to catch this person. She wanted to avenge Hannah.

Charles rubbed his face hard and took a deep breath. "I know! She has hurt Hannah again and again. I've given her too many chances. This time, I won't show any mercy."

Hearing this, Lassie felt even more guilty and remorseful. "Yes! You gave her chance after chance! It's all my fault. If I had punished her severely from the first mistake instead of indulging her, thinking she would repent, she wouldn't have become worse and worse."

If she had known this, when she first found out the fake Violet hurt Hannah and tried to sell Shirley to traffickers, Lassie should have decisively locked her in a mental hospital and never let her out.

Charles didn't comfort Lassie. At this moment, he had no mood to comfort her, nor did he know how to.

Everyone was at fault for things reaching this point, especially him. He shouldn't have let Violet go again and again because of their past feelings.

But now the truth told him that Violet wasn't the real Violet; she was an imposter. And the one she hurt repeatedly, Hannah, was the real Violet. How ironic!

Neither of them spoke again. Lassie closed her eyes, and tears silently streamed down her face. Charles also silently wept, tears flowing through his fingers.

Unbeknownst to them, around the corner, Austin had heard their conversation clearly. His hands clenched into fists at his sides.

He had come to check on Hannah after finishing with Tina's matters. Unexpectedly, he overheard Lassie and Charles's conversation.

They already knew Hannah's true identity? Damn it. That idiot Violet not only failed to help but also messed things up repeatedly.

At that moment, his phone vibrated in his pocket. He immediately pressed his pocket, walked to an empty stairwell, took out his phone, and saw that the call was from Violet.

Austin's eyes narrowed dangerously. That idiot Violet, failing every time, still had the nerve to call him.

Austin suppressed his overwhelming anger, answered the call, and put the phone to his ear. "What do you want?"

Violet was clearly terrified, trembling all over, even her voice shaking badly. "I hit Hannah with my car. Now the Langley family has blocked all the exits. I can't get out! Can you help me? Help me escape."

Austin coldly curled his lips. "Where are you now?"

Violet gave him her current location.

"Wait there. Don't get caught! I'll be there soon."

"Okay! You better hurry! The Langley family will probably search here soon."

"I'll be there as soon as possible. Wait for me!"

After ending the call, Austin didn't drive himself but hailed a cab at the hospital entrance to where Violet was hiding.

Violet was smart. To avoid being caught by the Langley family, she hid on the rooftop of a very old apartment complex. Most residents had moved out, and those left were elderly people who were very nostalgic.

These people were mostly visually impaired, rarely leaving their homes except for morning and evening walks. Plus, this old complex had no property management, and many things were in disrepair. When Violet hid there, no one noticed.

When Austin reached the rooftop, he saw Violet pacing anxiously, muttering to herself, seemingly unaware of his arrival.

"Violet!" It wasn't until Austin called her name that she saw him. She immediately ran over excitedly, grabbed his hand, and said anxiously, "Get me out of here quickly! I must leave now! If Charles finds me, I'm dead."

Austin glanced at her hand, a cold smile forming on his lips. He gently patted her shoulder and coaxed, "Come on, tell me what happened. Why did you hit Hannah with your car?"

Violet, unaware of the impending danger, began to speak, "I didn't mean to. I don't know what came over me! Since Charles brought her back, everyone has favored her. Lassie, Shirley, Charles, everyone's heart is with her. They even guarded against me, not allowing me into Sunshine Manor, afraid I would hurt Hannah. Why?"

"What makes Hannah better than me? Why does everyone like her, and no one even looks at me? I was upset and hurt. So, when I saw her running out of Sunshine Manor that day, I thought about the recent cold treatment and couldn't hold back."

"I was so angry that I lost control of my emotions. I only thought that if Hannah died, everyone would like me, and all attention would be on me. By the time I realized it, I had already hit Hannah, and she flew out." Thinking about that scene, she felt both excited and scared.

She was excited that Hannah must be dead this time! She was scared that if Hannah died, Charles would be furious. With her current ability, she couldn't withstand Charles's anger.

She was too foolish! She shouldn't have done it herself. She should have hired someone to hit Hannah. She was too angry at the time and thought she might miss the chance, so she acted impulsively.
