Chapter 1127 Shocking News
Carter opened his mouth, but it took him a while to finally get the words out. "Austin likes Violet?"
Lassie suddenly remembered that Carter had just woken up and didn't know what had happened today, so she quickly filled him in on the events at the warehouse.
When he heard that Hannah was actually his biological daughter, he somehow found the strength to sit up abruptly in bed.
"Hannah is Violet? Violet is Hannah? So, she's our real daughter? The previous Violet was a fake?" Carter was shocked.
Lassie nodded, her eyes red with tears. "Yes! It's all our fault. We couldn't even recognize our own daughter, and Violet suffered so much because of it! She's still lying in the ICU, and we don't know if she'll make it!"
Carter threw off the blanket and tried to get up. "No, I need to see Violet, my daughter. I need to see her."
The thought of his precious daughter enduring so much pain made his heart ache.
But because he had been lying down for so long, his legs were weak. As soon as he stood up, he felt dizzy and fell back onto the bed.
He tried to get up again.
Lassie, terrified, pushed him back down. "I know you care about Violet, but in your current condition, you really shouldn't get up! Wait until you're feeling better to see her. Besides, she's still in the ICU, and you wouldn't be able to get in anyway."
Carter's face turned pale, his eyes empty. "I'm so useless. I couldn't even raise my son properly, and I failed to protect my daughter! I didn't even realize we had brought home an impostor!"
The whole family had been driven nearly insane by the impostor.
They had almost ruined decades of friendship with the Langley family.
Charles asked, puzzled, "Carter, this isn't your fault. It's all Austin's doing! He was in the open while we were in the dark. He knew our every move. If he brought an impostor to pose as Violet, he must have been thoroughly prepared. No matter how careful you were, you would still have fallen into his trap."
Carter clenched his fists tightly. "Why would Austin do this? I've treated him well all these years, never mistreated him because he wasn't my biological son. I even considered handing over the Moore Group to him. And yet, he—how could he turn out like this?"
No matter how he thought about it, he couldn't understand.
"Because he likes Violet! He's liked her for a long time, but Violet likes Charles. So, to be with Violet, he kidnapped her eight years ago."
Hearing this, Tina, who had been silent, couldn't help but speak up. "That's not true. He didn't do the kidnapping eight years ago!"
Everyone turned to look at her.
Tina calmly explained, "Eight years ago, Violet was kidnapped. He wanted to rescue her, but when he arrived, the kidnappers were already dead, and Violet was unconscious nearby.
He didn't know what had happened. He thought Violet had killed the kidnappers, so he cleaned up the scene and took Violet away.
You know the rest."
Carter was puzzled.
Charles was puzzled.
Lassie was puzzled.
The three of them stared at her, clearly not believing her.
Tina grew anxious. "I'm telling the truth! At this point, I have no reason to lie to you! The kidnapping had nothing to do with Austin. He only took Violet because she was unconscious."
Charles sneered. "You really think it was just a spur-of-the-moment decision?"
Tina was taken aback. "What are you getting at?"
Charles replied, his face expressionless, "If it was spur-of-the-moment, how did he hide Violet so well? How did he find a psychologist to hypnotize her? And how did he quickly get Quentin and Lisa to give her a new identity?"
"That—" Tina realized she had no answers.
Charles continued, "From taking Violet, erasing her memory, to giving her a new identity and sending her family abroad, it was all meticulously planned. It couldn't have been done on a whim! Besides, Carter had people sealing off the area. For Austin to pull this off without being caught, it had to be premeditated."
Tina was stunned, her brows furrowed slightly.
Such a complex and thorough plan couldn't have been executed perfectly on a whim.
So, Austin had even deceived her?
Charles added, "So, Austin's kidnapping of Violet was premeditated! He had feelings for Violet for a long time, but since Violet was his sister, he had to do this to be with her."
Hearing Charles' words, Carter became agitated. "They're siblings! How could Austin like Violet? Is he insane?"
Lassie said solemnly, "I think he must have known for a long time that he wasn't our biological son, which is why he fell for his sister."
Otherwise, it would be truly twisted.
Carter was so shocked he couldn't close his mouth, staring blankly at the ceiling, trying to process this earth-shattering news.
After a while, he found his voice. "When did he find out? How did he find out? Did we do something wrong that made him realize?"
Lassie couldn't answer this question either. She just quietly held Carter's hand without speaking.
Carter closed his eyes in pain, his voice filled with sorrow. "I've lived my life with integrity, never imagining I would raise a son like this.
I may not be a perfect father, but I thought I did a decent job! How did Austin turn out like this?
He even killed people. How could he do it? How could he bring himself to do it?
Even though Violet isn't his biological sister, they spent time together. How could he so decisively harm her?
And Violet.
Even if Violet isn't his biological sister, they have no blood relation, but over the years, they've always been siblings!
How could he, how could he fall for Violet?"
He couldn't understand, no matter how hard he tried.
Tina was only briefly stunned before she quickly regained her composure and walked up to Charles. "I've done what I promised. Now you need to fulfill your end of the bargain."
Charles replied coldly, "There's still Violet. Once you lift the hypnosis on Violet, I'll keep my promise."
Tina shook her head. "No."
Charles' eyes narrowed. "Are you going back on your word?"
Tina explained, "It's not that. She's in the ICU right now! The hypnosis on her is different from Carter's. To restore Hannah's memory, we need to wait until she's out of danger and wakes up."
