Panicked at the thought of him leaving. Fearing he might leave, Patricia reached out frantically, her lips repeatedly murmuring Martin'shis name.
"Martin, don't go... Martin..."
Tears streamed down her face.
Hunter watched Patricia as she lay there, lost in her delirium.
Hunter watched silently as Patricia, unconscious, murmuringed Martin's name. His handsome face shifted from shades of livid to ghostly white, a portrait of utterexpression oscillated between fury and despair.
"Martin, Martin—it's always Martin!. What's he got that I don't? Why can't you get him out of your head? Am I, Hunter, really so inferiorWhat's wrong with me?" he asked, his voice laced with bitterness.
Patricia seemed deaf to his outcry, repeatedly callingcontinued her plaintive calls for Martin with no response.
Suddenly, oblivious to Hunter's presence. Then, suddenly, her eyes flew open, brimmingfilled with a mix of longing and reluctance.
fear. "Martin, don't go, don't leave me... Martin..." she pleaded.
At her words, Hunter's striking features wentcomposure crumbled, his face turning pale, as a storm of fury brewing within him.
jealousy and rage took hold. "Martin, Martin, is he all you see, all you care about? What am I to you, then?
Haven't I done enough for you to see look at me?"
His voice was sinister, echoing like an ominous specter in her earsdark and menacing.
Startled, Patricia looked up, and a face , startled, saw Hunter's twisted with terror filledface looming over her vision.
"Hunter..."
. She recoiled instinctively, her body shrinkinginstinct to shrink away from him as clear as daylight, her eyes wide with horror as if he were a natural disaster.
The fear in her gaze cut through Hunter's heart.
terror. Hunter, feeling the sting of her fear, asked, "Am I that frightening to you?" he questioned.
Patricia fellremained silent, her gaze fixed on him as if she'd yet to awaken fromtrapped in a nightmare.
Her reaction was like an arrow materializing, piercing his heart with a relentless sting.
HeIn a sudden movement, Hunter gripped her chin abruptly, tilting, forcing her head back, his lips pressed tight. Between clenched teeth, he ground out,to look at him. "Listen well, Patricia. From now on, you're mine, Hunter's woman, and you have nothing to do with Martin. In your eyes, in your and heart, there's room for me and me alone. Otherwise, I'll ensure Martin vanishes from this world forever."
His merciless words snapped Patricia back to reality. Her heart raced as she realized the grim reality of her situation. This wasn't a dream; she was very much alive.
In that moment, she knew this wasn't a dream.
She wasn't dead.
She had been brought back to life.
The familiar face before her grew strangebecame unrecognizable, and a tidesurge of hatred swept towardoverwhelmed her.
With a frantic energy, she Frantically, Patricia pounded on Hunter's chest, her tears flowing like rain.
unrelenting. "Why? Why won't you let me die? Why do this to my child? Give them back to me, you bastard, devil... scum, lowlife..." she screamed, hurling every insult at him, her pain and anger pouring out.
She hurled every insult she could think of at him, her anguish spilling out unchecked.
Hunter was utterly unfazed, unaffected by her curses and futile blows, pinningefforts, pinned her wrists with one hand and, pressing her down onto the hospital bed. Towering above her, he hissed menacingly,
"That's right, I'm a bastard, a demon. ," he hissed menacingly above her. "So, you better not test a demon's limits."
Patricia struggled in vain. Her voice broke as she asked, "Why me? Out of all the women in the world, why did it have to be me?" Patricia asked, her voice breaking under the strain.
GentlyHunter, caressing her cheek, Hunter gently, smiled and said,. "Those who dwell in darkness cling to the light when they see it. You're my light!"
He paused, his tone growing heavier, ". Do you understand?"
"You don't love me," Patricia objectedcountered, "this is just your obsession."
Hunter shrugged it off, "Obsession or love, it's all the same to me. ," Hunter replied with a shrug. "All I know is that you're the woman I'll do anything to have."
His smile widened, not quite reaching his eyes,. "Remember to take care of yourself.
Even though you lost the baby, you still have Charles and Randy. If you die, I'll send them to join you."
Patricia glared at him, her eyes burning with rage. "You've already caused Fannie's death; now you won't even spare them."wide with fury.
If looks could kill, Hunter would have been sliced a thousand times.
"You've already caused Fannie's death; now you won't even spare them."
Seeing Patricia's subdued resistance, Hunter released her wrists and casually straightened his rumpled cuffs, his tone unaffected, casually. "Their fate is in your hands.
Don't do anything foolish, and I won't touch them."
If," he had to act, it would be done stealthily, without her knowingsaid, his tone detached.
Patricia glared at him bitterly, Patricia's silent tears falling without a word.
Seeing her like this continued to fall, and Hunter softened Hunter momentarily. He tenderly tucked, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear and coaxed, .
"Be good, and I promise you'll be the happiest woman in the world."," he coaxed gently.
She turned her head aside, repulsed, avoidingaway, repelled by his touch.
A fleeting shadowflicker of malice darted acrosscrossed Hunter's eyes before vanishing, disappearing as thoughif it were just an illusion.
"Wait for me in the hospital. I'll join you once I've taken care of business."
With a kiss on," he said, kissing her forehead, he turned and left before leaving the room.
The momentAs soon as he was gone, Patricia frantically rubbed the spot where he had kissed her, as if trying to erase a stain. Her skin reddenedbecame red and brokeraw, but she hardly felt itthe physical pain was nothing compared to her need to erase any trace of Hunter. He repulsed her deeply.
All she knew was that she needed to scrub away every trace of Hunter's presence.
He disgusted her.
After leaving the hospital room, Hunter didn't head straight back to his office. Instead, he sought out his lead bodyguard and inquired, "Where are the embryosfetuses?"
Safeguarding the precious cargo, the bodyguard assured him, "I've kept them secure."," the bodyguard said.
Hunter pondered for a moment before decisively ordering, "Bring them to me the embryos."
"Yes, sir!" The bodyguard nodded and departed.."
Seizing the opportunity whileWhile his bodyguard fetched the embryosfetuses, Hunter slipped back into the hospital room.
Patricia, noticing his return, simply turned away, presenting her back to him as a silent barrier.
Hunter's heart twinged with pain, but he refrained from pressing her further. Instead, he plucked a few strands of her hair from the pillow, clutching them tightly in his hand before exiting once more.
By then, the bodyguard had retrieved the embryosfetuses and, under Hunter's watchful eye, unveiled the cloth shrouding the precious contents.
Two blood-soaked orbs swam into Hunter's line of sight.
To any normal person, the sight of such specimens might induce a wave of nausea.
But Hunter? His Hunter's face broke into a smile as if he had just discovered a fascinating toy, a tinge of excitement flickering in the depths of his eyes.
After gingerly covering the embryosfetuses, he received the tray from the bodyguard's hands and strode purposefully toward the genetics clinic on the second floor. He needed to see for himself, to have proof—because since he hadn't personally witnessed the children being extracted from Patricia's body.
His trust extended to none, relying solely on the verification of the tests.
Only with confirmation that these embryosfetuses were indeed hisMartin's progeny carried bywith Patricia could he find absolute peace.
