Chapter 1210 Final Disposal Result
Seeing that Harper had nothing more to say, Lassie turned her attention to Martin and said, "People like her, with such malicious intent, need to be dealt with accordingly!"
"She can hold her grudges and bully us all she wants, but she crossed the line when she hurt Charles and Violet! Even if we end her, I won't say a word against it."
Martin replied in a deep voice, "I know what needs to be done."
With Harper dealt with, Lassie slowly walked over to Austin.
Seeing the despair and exhaustion on Austin's face, she reached out and gently touched his cheek. "Austin, I'm sorry."
Austin had imagined countless scenarios, but he never expected his mother's first words to him would be an apology.
He was at a loss, unsure of how to respond.
Lassie hugged him, gently stroking his back. "It's my fault. I neglected you, and I didn't notice the changes in you. If we had realized sooner, maybe none of this would have happened.
I know you're not a bad person. Otherwise, when Charlotte asked you to kill us, you wouldn't have imprisoned her instead.
You just took the wrong path.
Now that you know it was wrong, let's not continue down that path.
I admit, when I found out everything was your doing, I was angry. I swore to myself that I would never acknowledge you as my son again.
But how can we just sever a bond of over twenty years? That was just anger talking.
No matter what happens, you are my son.
I never believed that blood ties alone define family. The moments we've shared over the past twenty years are far stronger than any blood relation.
Austin, come home. Let's leave the past behind. We won't hold it against you.
Besides, you're not alone.
Martin is your uncle, Charles is your cousin, and there's Fannie, Randy, Maria... they're all your cousins too.
And don't forget Tina. She really cares about you."
Austin felt a warmth spread through his chest, filling him up. His throat felt choked with emotion, and though he had so much to say, he couldn't get a word out.
After a while, he finally found his voice. "Mom, you really don't blame me?"
Lassie shook her head vigorously. "No, I don't blame you. You're my son. No matter what happens, as long as you know you were wrong, I won't blame you."
Austin's tears, which he had managed to hold back, fell again.
His voice was choked with emotion. "Why aren't you my biological mother? Why is Charlotte my biological mother? Why does she have to be my mother?"
Lassie had never seen him cry so hard before.
He had always been a quiet child, rarely crying or speaking much.
Even when his wrongdoings were exposed, he had looked bewildered and refused to admit to anything.
This was the first time he had cried so heartbreakingly in her arms.
Her heart ached for him. "No, I am your real mother. I've raised you as my own son since you were little, never treating you any differently. Don't let this create a rift in your heart.
I'm still me, your dad is still your dad. We've never changed. Don't you change either, okay?"
Austin nodded vigorously.
Suddenly, he didn't feel so obsessed anymore.
So what if Hannah didn't like him?
He still had his parents, and his sister.
He wasn't alone.
How could he forsake so many people just to win over one person?
Seeing him calm down, Lassie wiped the tears from his face, satisfied. "Let's go home. We'll still be a family, a loving family."
Austin finally realized his mistakes.
He had been so wrong before.
"Mom, I'm sorry. I was too selfish, hurting you over and over for my own sake. I almost got Dad killed last time."
Lassie, with teary eyes, smiled. "It's all in the past. I don't blame you. As long as you know you were wrong and can change, I'd even give my life for you."
Seeing the concern in his mother's eyes, Austin felt completely at ease.
In the end, Harper was sent to the police station. The evidence of her killing the kidnappers who had taken Violet eight years ago was irrefutable, and she would face legal consequences.
Charlotte's body was sent to the crematorium. There was no ceremony, just Martin and his children seeing her off.
After cremation, her ashes were buried in the Langley family cemetery, next to Gregory and Jessica.
Austin was released.
He temporarily stayed with Carter and Lassie at the Moore Mansion.
Since Hannah hadn't woken up yet, Tina stayed at the Langley Mansion, waiting for Hannah to wake up before leaving.
Lassie was worried about Hannah, but knew that many people were with her. Austin needed her more right now, so she asked Charles to take good care of Hannah and call her if anything happened, while she stayed at the Moore Mansion with Austin.
Charles looked at the still-sleeping Hannah and asked Tina worriedly, "It's been two days. She won't really sleep for three days, will she?"
Tina, understanding his concern, reassured him, "Don't worry. She'll definitely wake up by tomorrow night at the latest."
Charles sighed, "I hope so."
Tina, full of confidence, said, "I trust my abilities. I won't make a mistake."
Charles tucked Hannah in, opened the bedside drawer, and took out a small tracking device, handing it to Tina.
"What's this?" Tina was puzzled, looking at him in confusion.
Charles didn't mince words. "You should know I can't leave any loose ends. Letting Austin go was a huge gamble. If he weren't my cousin, what he did would have warranted multiple deaths."
Tina understood and nodded. "I know. It took a lot of courage for you to let him go."
Charles smiled. "So, I can't allow any mistakes. The tracker inside you has been removed, but before I let you go, I need to implant another one.
But don't worry, this is the smallest tracker I've developed. It won't affect your body."
Tina took it without hesitation. "It's fine. Even if it did, I'd accept it."
As long as she could save Austin, she'd go through it again.
Charles explained, "It's a minor procedure. The family doctor will do it here, and I'll supervise."
Tina nodded. "I understand."
Charles nodded in satisfaction and took out another one from the drawer.
Tina's brow furrowed slightly. "And this one is for?"
