Chapter 34 Feeling Father's Love for the First Time

Charles was afraid that Jade would blurt something out in anger. He quickly grabbed Martin's hand and said, "Daddy, I'm tired of playing. Let's go home!"

Jade, was consumed by anger so she didn't think much about what Charles was trying to do and rejected without hesitation, "Go home? No I promised your mommy that I would take good care of you!"

Charles was infuriated by her response and kept signaling to her with his eyes.

"I will explain everything to my mommy! Jade, you go back first, or play by yourself. Daddy and I will go back."

Jade, slow to react, glared at Martin with anger and turned to leave.

Charles felt fortunate that he and Randy were twins with identical faces. He shook Martin's arm and acted spoiled, saying, "Daddy, let's go back! I'm tired."

Martin was incensed and didn't notice anything unusual with the child. He prepared to leave with him.

Unexpectedly, Ryan grabbed them and wouldn't let them go. "No, since we're here, let's play for a while! I saw several attractions that seemed fun."

"I don't want to play!" Charles firmly refused.

Ryan casually said, "If you don't want to play, then I'll play. You can watch from the side!"

"......??” Charles's eyes turned and he deliberately held his stomach, wrinkling his face, "No, Daddy, my stomach hurts so much, take me to the hospital quickly."

Martin immediately forgot about being angry and asked anxiously, "Why does your stomach suddenly hurt? Did you eat something bad?"

Charles secretly pinched his own thigh, tears welling up from the pain, "I just drank some milk, maybe it wasn't fresh. My stomach really hurts! Am I going to die soon?"

Martin instantly forgot about being angry, bent down and picked him up, "Hold on, I'll take you to the hospital right away."

After saying that, he rushed away.

Ryan didn't want to leave and held onto Carter, saying, "Carter, play with me for a while. I want to try the bungee jumping. It looks like a lot of fun."

Carter glared at him, "Randy's stomach hurts and you're still in the mood to play?"

Ryan shrugged it off, "He's not feeling well every other day. I've become immune to it! With Martin around, nothing will happen to him! Come on, let's go."

"We're going to do the bungee jump.” Ryan said, disregarding Carter's will and pulling him along to see the bungee jump.

As the bungee jump ride slowly ascended, they saw Patricia walking towards them from afar, holding Randy's hand on one side and leading a little girl on the other.

He immediately widened his eyes and forcefully grabbed Carter, exclaiming,

"Carter, look quickly! It's Patricia and Randy and she's also holding a little girl's hand. Didn't Randy go back with Martin? Who is that little girl?"

With the amusement park crowded, Carter searched around but couldn't find them. "I don't see anyone. Are your eyes playing tricks on you?" he asked.

Rolling his eyes in exasperation, Ryan pointed to where Patricia was. "Right there, over there..."

As the bungee jump ride continued to ascend, Carter, who had nearsightedness, squinted and followed the direction Ryan’s finger pointed, but could only see blurry figures without clear features.

"But Randy went with the boss, how can he be here? No, I have to call the boss! Maybe there's some secret here that we don't know," Ryan said, reaching for his phone in his pocket.

However, his hand slipped, causing the phone to fall straight out of his pocket and shatter into pieces upon hitting the ground.

Ryan: "...??"

Carter: "...??"

After a brief silence, Ryan cursed in frustration, "Damn it! This was a custom-made phone worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. All my girlfriends' phone numbers were stored in it."

Carter gave him a sidelong glance as if looking at an idiot.

Undeterred, Ryan attempted to reach into Carter's pocket. "Carter, give me your phone. I need to call Martin!"

Carter wondered for a moment if he was dealing with a madman. He slapped Ryan's hand away and warned sternly, "If my phone breaks, I'll chop off your hand."

"Carter, how could you? You..."

Before Ryan could finish his sentence, the bungee jump ride paused briefly at the top and suddenly dropped them at a rapid pace, swinging the chairs like swings and hurling them in the air.

The feeling of weightlessness terrified Ryan, as he turned pale and tried to scream, but found himself incapable of making any sound due to the sensation.

It felt as if he could be flung out at any moment or like his soul was leaving his body.

A few minutes later, the bungee jump ride came to a stop and the safety harness automatically released.

Carter was as composed as ever as he calmly adjusted his clothes and took a couple of steps towards the exit.

Noticing that Ryan hadn't followed, he impatiently turned back only to discover Ryan bowing his head, motionless.

Immediately, a worker's nervous voice sounded, "Oh no, someone has fainted! Quickly, take them to the medical room."

Carter felt utterly embarrassed. Ryan actually fainted after the bungee jump ride. He awkwardly covered half of his face and entered the medical room alongside Ryan.

Patricia, Randy, and Fannie were standing in line at the ticket gate for the whitewater rafting. As Jade rushed over gasping for breath, too hurried to catch her breath, still gasping.

"Patricia, hurry... he's coming!" Jade spoke in broken sentences.

"Who is this 'he'?" Patricia listened, completely confused, not understanding her meaning for a moment.

Jade gestured and danced, almost blurting out Martin's name several times but stopped herself because Randy was present, forcefully swallowing her words back.

Patricia instantly understood, her eyes widening, "Martin?"

She finally got it and Jade's eyes welled up with tears of gratefulness as she nodded repeatedly, "Yes, it's Martin! He mistook Charles and took him away!"

Patricia quickly caught on and calmly analyzed, "Since he took Charles away, he shouldn't come back again! We can confidently enjoy ourselves."

Jade: "....??" How could it be that what Patricia said made so much sense.

Patricia continued, "Since Randy is here, let's have a good time! We can't let this trip go to waste!"

At that moment, it was Randy and Fannie's turn! Patricia accompanied them inside and also got an extra ticket for Jade.

The four of them had a great time playing.

On the other hand, Charles wasn't feeling as happy.

After leaving the amusement park, Martin directly took him to the hospital where he was forced to undergo a series of tests – X-rays, ultrasounds, blood tests, and even urine and stool samples.

Everything else was alright, but when it came to blood draw, his legs went weak, and he adamantly refused.

"I won't do the blood test. My stomach doesn't hurt anymore, it really doesn't hurt. I don't want to draw blood..."

Martin thought he was just avoiding the blood test and hugged him, patiently coaxing, "Good boy, this is the best doctor in the hospital, it won't hurt."

Charles retorted angrily, "It's not you that is taking the blood test, of course, you'd say it doesn't hurt!"

Martin didn't get angry and gently said, "Then I'll do it with you! You take one vial, and I'll take one vial. How about if Dad accompanies you?"

Charles paused, "You really want to accompany me to draw blood ?"

Without hesitation, Martin rolled up his sleeves, extended his arm, and had one vial of blood drawn without changing his expression.

Suddenly, a strange feeling welled up in Charles' heart. His eyes became moist, and he was so moved that he wanted to cry.

He realized that the jerk of a dad in his imagination might be a little different than he thought.

He thought Martin raised Randy because of responsibility. But now, it seemed like it wasn't solely because of responsibility.
