Chapter 729 Leading You into the Trap
Patricia knew exactly what Rock was getting at and gave a slight smile, "His business isn't your concern!"
Rock raised his eyebrows, "He's your husband. Aren't you worried about him?"
Patricia replied confidently, "He's my husband, so I trust him."
After a pause, she added, "Since you've figured out the truth, go find the real murderer. Let's just pretend we never met."
Rock stared at Patricia, unmoving.
Patricia rolled her eyes, "What? You still don't believe me?"
She grabbed a laptop and handed it to Rock, "Since you can sneak around and install surveillance all over the Koch family properties, you must be a top-notch hacker. If you still don't believe me, hack into the hospital's database. My records should be there."
Rock didn't hesitate. He took the laptop and quickly accessed the hospital's archives from last September.
He clicked on the relevant date.
Although many people were admitted and discharged daily, there weren't many whose names were Patricia.
After typing "P," only a dozen names popped up.
Rock immediately saw Patricia's name.
He clicked on it. Sure enough, there were Patricia's hospitalization records, complete with detailed medical notes.
The records clearly stated that Patricia had suffered severe trauma and had been in a coma for three days, one of which coincided with the day Sean was murdered.
So, Sean really wasn't killed by Patricia?
Had Rock been targeting the wrong person all along?
He said, "Impossible! What if you sent someone to kill Sean?"
Patricia scoffed, "Aren't you supposed to be smart? Would I send a woman to seduce Sean, sleep with him, and then kill him? Does that make sense? If I wanted him dead, I'd send a professional assassin. Why go through all that trouble? And why would I leave my work card there? Am I afraid people wouldn't know I'm the killer? Use your brain."
When Rock saw Patricia's hospitalization records, he already believed her.
He just couldn't accept that he had been used to go after Patricia all this time.
Patricia analyzed for Rock, "Since Hunter could find you and collaborate with you against me, he must know the whole truth. If you want to find Sean's real murderer, asking him is the right move."
Rock forcefully closed the laptop, "I'll believe you for now. But if I find out you're lying, you'll regret it."
As he was about to leave, Patricia suddenly called out, "I have one more question!"
Rock seemed to ignore her.
Patricia hurriedly asked, "Hunter isn't Mr. Hill's son, is he? It was all a scheme from the beginning."
Rock turned around and gave Patricia a deep look, "I don't know if he is or not, and I don't care! But I did switch Joe's hair for the DNA test."
Patricia suddenly understood everything.
The reason Hunter's blood test matched Mr. Hill's must be because he and Billy had the same blood-forming system.
Later, when the hair sample was used for the DNA test, Rock had swapped the sample.
If Hunter really was Joe's illegitimate son, why did he switch the samples?
All the truths seemed to come out.
Rock didn't say another word. He withdrew his gaze from Patricia, and just like when he arrived, he placed his hand on the balcony railing, lightly leaped over it, and jumped down to the garden below.
He had barely taken a few steps when four burly men, just as big as he was, blocked his path.
The quiet night was suddenly filled with the sound of orderly footsteps.
In the next moment, a group of well-trained bodyguards surrounded him.
The bodyguards parted, and Riley and Sebastian emerged from the back.
Riley glared at Rock, "Did you really think you could come and leave from the Koch family estate as you please? Do you think we can't handle you?"
Rock looked at Riley with a blank expression, not taking the group seriously at all, "You think these guys are a match for me?"
Sebastian adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses and smirked, "You think you're the only special forces soldier in the world? Everyone here has undergone rigorous special forces training! How many do you think you can take down?"
Rock's brow furrowed, a sense of foreboding rising in his heart. He pondered, 'They were also special forces?'
He had been too careless earlier, failing to notice it from their footsteps.
At that moment, Patricia walked over, standing between Riley and Sebastian, looking at Rock with a blank expression.
Sebastian immediately asked with concern, "Patricia, are you okay? Why did you press the alarm so late? Didn't I tell you to press it as soon as he appeared?"
Patricia smiled, "I was trying to get his words! No pain, no gain. If I didn't do this, how would he believe what I said?"
Hearing their conversation, Rock instantly felt a sense of betrayal, his eyes burning with anger, "You tricked me?"
Patricia looked at him coldly, "No, I didn't trick you. Sean was indeed not killed by me. I don't even know him. The information you found in the hospital records is also true."
After a pause, she continued, "But everything done today was to lead you into the trap."
Although Rock was simple-minded and physically strong, if he didn't understand the situation now, he would be truly foolish.
Patricia went on, "To be honest, I have no quarrel with you. I could have let you go today. But you shouldn't have killed Billy Hill. He was innocent! So, your fate today is not for me to decide!"
As Patricia finished speaking, Joe arrived.
With Joe came Susan and Carol.
Susan's eyes were red and swollen from crying.
Since Billy's death, there's not a day went by she didn't cry.
Every time she thought of Billy's tragic death, Susan couldn't stop crying.
Now, seeing the real killer of Billy finally caught, Susan couldn't hold back her anger any longer.
She glared fiercely at Rock, "It was you. You killed my son."
Patricia had a listening device on her.
So, everyone had heard their conversation.
When Susan heard Rock say that he had killed and drowned Billy, Susan wanted to rush over and kill the murderer with her own hands.
If she had known that Billy would die one day because of his kindness, Susan would never have taught him to be kind from a young age.
Rock had no intention of negotiating with them. He secretly assessed the bodyguards in front of him, planning how to break through.
His own life wasn't important.
If he died, so be it.
But without avenging Sean, Rock would die with a grievance unredressed.
