Chapter 1090 Tina Under House Arrest
Charles was driving, Martin was in the passenger seat, and Tina was in the back.
Charles glanced at her through the rearview mirror and said, "I'll arrange a place for you to stay. Every three days, I'll bring Hannah to see you. Someone will take care of your daily needs, but without my permission, you are not allowed to step outside."
Essentially, house arrest. Tina had anticipated this and didn't show much surprise or anger, maintaining her usual calm demeanor.
Tina was confined to a house that Charles had prepared for her. It was a luxurious three-bedroom, two-living-room apartment with dedicated servants to attend to her needs.
To prevent her from escaping, two bodyguards were stationed at the door.
The house was a property of the Langley family, located in the most bustling part of the city, with understated yet luxurious decor.
Charles stood in the center of the living room, looking at her coldly. "There are three rooms here; you can stay in any one you like. I'll have daily necessities and clothes sent over later."
After saying this, he emphasized seriously, "Remember, don't try to escape. You won't get away."
Tina glanced around the house and then sat down on the sofa.
At this moment, a servant approached and respectfully called out, "Mr. Langley, Mr. Watson!"
Charles said, "This is Emma Kate. If you need anything, you can ask her to handle it for you. Except for leaving the house, you are free to move around."
After speaking, he gave Martin a look, signaling that they were leaving.
As they reached the door, Charles seemed to remember something and stopped, saying in a deep voice, "Hannah misses you. I'll bring her to see you later. Remember my warning: don't hypnotize her again, and don't provoke me repeatedly. It won't end well for you."
He knew that no matter what he said, Tina wouldn't respond, so he didn't wait for her reaction and left with Martin.
Outside the house, while waiting for the elevator, Charles hesitantly asked Martin, "Will this work?"
Martin smiled confidently. "Trust me, it will."
Charles naturally trusted Martin. Since Martin was so confident, it had to work.
Charles kept his word. In the afternoon, Charles indeed brought Hannah over.
On the way, Charles had already told her who they were going to see. "I'm taking you to see Tina now."
Hearing this name, Hannah was visibly stunned. She was momentarily dazed, with a hint of confusion in her eyes. Then she finally reacted, "You're taking me to see Tina?"
If Charles hadn't mentioned it, she would have almost forgotten about Tina. She felt terrible. How could she forget her best friend?
Charles saw her expression and smiled. "What? You don't want to see her?"
Hannah shook her head vigorously. "No! I want to see her! How could I not want to see her?"
But she had completely forgotten about Tina. She felt very guilty about it.
Tina had been so good to her; they were each other's only friends. But after leaving the country, she had completely forgotten about Tina. How could she do that?
Charles kept one hand on the steering wheel and held Hannah's hand, which was resting on her thigh, with the other. He smiled. "I knew you missed her, so I brought you to see her. You two can catch up later."
"Okay!" Hannah bit her lower lip, her brows furrowed, and nodded lightly.
She didn't know why. Thinking about seeing Tina soon made her feel uneasy and nervous.
She even started to think about what she should say when she saw Tina and how to start the conversation.
Hannah thought about it all the way, and she thought she was mentally prepared. But when she actually saw Tina, she forgot everything she had prepared to say.
She stared blankly at Tina, who was sitting on the sofa. Even though they had only been apart for a few days, it felt like a long time. She didn't feel the joy of a reunion but rather a sense of unfamiliarity.
On the other hand, Tina, upon seeing Hannah, changed her cold demeanor towards Charles and walked up to Hannah, affectionately holding her hand. "Evelyn, I finally get to see you again!"
The unfamiliar name and touch made Hannah instinctively pull her hand back.
Tina was taken aback. Being smart, she quickly sensed something was wrong. The old Hannah would never treat her like this.
Hannah had considered her the most important and only family member in her life. Every time they met, Hannah would affectionately hold her hand or link arms with her, relying on and trusting her completely.
Whether it was the first time Hannah got lost and Tina found her at the police station, or the last time in the hospital, Hannah's reaction had never been a problem. But this time, Tina saw a hint of rejection in Hannah's eyes.
Something was wrong. Could it be that Hannah's hypnosis had been broken?
Tina looked into Hannah's eyes, intending to test if her hypnosis had been undone. But Charles, having already noticed her intention, pulled Hannah behind him to block her.
Charles's eyes were cold enough to kill. "Tina, what are you doing? Have you forgotten my warning?"
He had completely grasped Tina's hypnosis techniques. Other psychologists needed instruments to assist them, but Tina was so skilled that she only needed to look into someone's eyes to hypnotize them.
As soon as he saw Tina preparing to look into Hannah's eyes, he knew something was wrong.
Tina averted her gaze and tentatively called out, "Evelyn!"
Hannah snapped out of it and immediately stepped out from behind Charles, apologizing, "Tina, I'm sorry. I was just daydreaming."
Tina shook her head with a smile. "It's okay! We haven't seen each other in a while. Let's sit down and chat!" Maybe she could glean some information from their conversation.
Hannah immediately smiled. "Okay!"
She walked over to the sofa and sat down, her legs together and her hands on her lap, looking very well-behaved.
Tina sat down beside her and held her hand again.
This time, although Hannah still felt a bit uncomfortable, she didn't pull her hand away. Instead, she asked, "Tina, where have you been these days? Why are you only coming to see me now? Do you know how worried I was about you?"
Tina knew that Charles wouldn't tell Hannah about her being confined, so she wisely didn't bring it up. "I just had some things to take care of."
Hannah immediately asked, "So you won't be leaving again, right?"
Tina nodded. "Yes! I'll be staying here for a while."
Hannah immediately smiled happily. "That's great! Then I can come to see you often."
Tina smiled and nodded. "Yes! You can come to see me whenever you miss me."
Tina felt that Hannah didn't seem different anymore. Could she have been mistaken earlier?
