Chapter 42 The Sudden Appearance of an Illegitimate Daughter
Back at the Villa,Randy called his father for breakfast.
Patricia glanced at him and pouted, saying, "Your father has already had breakfast, so he's not hungry at the moment."
Martin: "......??"
Unaware of any other meaning, Randy innocently asked, "Daddy, when did you have breakfast? Why didn't you eat with us? What did you eat?"
"Um..." Martin was thinking about how to explain, but then he heard Patricia say, "You can't eat the breakfast your father had!"
Randy blinked his innocent, big eyes and looked at Martin, seemingly understanding but not quite.
Martin didn't want Patricia to misunderstand, so he instinctively tried to explain,
"It's not what you saw! She suddenly rushed over, and before I could react, you came in through the door. It's a misunderstanding!"
Patricia sneered, "You two are engaged, so anything you do is legitimate! There's no need to explain to me, an outsider. I..."
Before she could finish her words, she caught a glimpse of Randy's face gradually becoming gloomy. Feeling it was not good, she quickly forced a smile and changed the subject,
"It's all in the past now, let it go! We're a family, we should be loving and forgiving. I don't blame you."
Martin discreetly glanced at Randy, his thin lips curling up as he deliberately said, "Yes! We're a family, we should love and support each other."
He deliberately emphasized the phrase "a family."
Patricia gritted her teeth inwardly while smiling, a smile that was more miserable than crying. If looks could kill, Martin would have been pierced by a thousand arrows long ago.
Looking at her sulking expression, Martin dispelled the gloom, elegantly took his seat at the head of the table, and Sophia immediately brought toast and milk.
Seeing the same unchanged breakfast day after day, he had no appetite. He personally went to the kitchen and made a bowl of noodles.
Patricia glared fiercely at the porridge in his hand, her eyes filled with warnings.
Martin knew that Patricia didn't want him to eat what she had made, but due to the rules they agreed upon last night, he couldn't openly stop himself.
With an evil grin on his lips, he deliberately took a leisurely sip.
The delicious taste of the noodles made Martin close his eyes in enjoyment, savoring it endlessly.
How could Patricia, with her ordinary hands, make such delicious food? After tasting the noodles, Martin boldly reached for the dish on the table with his fork.
It was the dish he had been longing for. Today, he could finally taste its flavor.
As soon as he tasted it, his eyes widened in astonishment. It was really delicious.
Even though she had used the same ingredients as a five-star chef, the taste was completely different.
He, who usually had a small appetite, ate three bowls of noodles and couldn't resist having two pieces of dessert that he never touched before.
Seeing him finish the breakfast she had painstakingly made while he had been flirting with Debbie, Patricia's gaze seemed as if she wanted to kill him.
Randy asked with a cheerful smile, "Daddy, is it delicious?"
Ignoring Patricia's gaze, Martin raised his thin lips and said, "Hmm! It's really delicious. I'll ask your mommy to make more tomorrow since daddy didn't eat enough."
Eating three bowls and still not being full, why not indulge a little?
"Die, you!" Patricia suppressed her anger, unable to hold back the fury in her heart.
Martin said, "The Langley Group has a new product launch today. I can't accompany you to the hospital! Take good care of Randy and call me if you need anything."
Patricia didn't respond to him.
Knowing that Patricia heard him, he didn't say anything more. He wiped his mouth satisfactorily and left.
After having breakfast, Patricia drove Randy to the hospital.
Finally, the new product launch had arrived. Charles and Fannie, seeking revenge for Patricia, convinced Jade to let them take a day leave from kindergarten.
Jade had been resentful about Martin abandoning Patricia, so when she saw they wanted to retaliate against the jerk, she readily agreed to their request and actively cooperated.
The launch was scheduled at the third floor of the Ivara City Hotel.
Early on, the staff came to arrange the venue, and all the news media outlets from Ivara City were present.
At nine o'clock, the launch started punctually.
Martin sat in the center and introduced the Langley Group's newly developed IC chip to everyone, while the large screen behind him displayed the chip's functions and development process.
The Langley Group was the only chip research and development company in Z country that ranked among the top ten globally.
Since Martin took over, they had successfully surpassed several foreign companies and had remained at the top for three years, allowing domestic companies in the chip field to regain their confidence.
Everyone held high expectations for the Langley Group's new chip development this time.
The launch proceeded smoothly and gradually reached its conclusion. The attendees unanimously gave high praise.
Meanwhile, Jade had secretly booked a room in the adjacent motel with Charles and Fannie.
Charles looked at Fannie and asked, "Are you ready?"
Fannie nodded, saying, "I'm ready!"
Charles, still worried, asked Fannie again, "Are you afraid? If you're scared, we can change our strategy."
Fannie firmly shook her head, saying, "I'm not afraid!"
More importantly, she wanted to see her jerk of a father. She hated him for what he did to her mommy, but she also wanted to see him.
Charles said, "Good! Let's proceed according to the original plan!"
"Okay!" Fannie nodded, closed her eyes, took a deep breath, suppressed her excitement about meeting her biological father and with her backpack on her shoulders, walked straight out with a determined posture like a warrior going to battle.
The launch was still ongoing. Martin was being interviewed by various reporters.
After the chip-related questions, some intrusive reporters shifted the topic to personal matters.
"Mr. Langley, you've been engaged to Miss Brown for five years. When can we expect to receive your wedding invitation?"
"Mr. Langley, you are young and talented. Your abilities are outstanding. Miss Brown is incredibly lucky to have you. Can you tell us about your relationship?"
"Miss Debbie is the youngest deputy doctor in the cardiology department, and you two are simply a perfect match with your talent and beauty."
Martin's warm gaze suddenly narrowed, his eyes lowered, concealing the coldness in his eyes.
"Today is the Langley Group's new product release event. Let's focus on business and not discuss personal matters!" Martin shifted the line of questioning firmly.
Feeling the pressure he released, everyone immediately fell silent, nervously preparing to steer the conversation towards the topic of the chip.
Just then, a little girl suddenly rushed in.
She appeared to be around four years old, with a cute bun hairstyle, chubby cheeks, delicate skin that seemed fragile with faint eyebrows like a doll.
As Martin looked at the little girl who had suddenly appeared, his pupils contracted fiercely.
He vaguely felt that her features were somewhat familiar, as if he had seen her somewhere, but couldn't recall it for the moment.
