Chapter 719 Narrow Escape
After a grueling ten-hour flight, Daisy finally arrived in the U.S.
She came here on impulse, not even sure where to start looking for Ryan. But when she heard he was in trouble and missing, she lost her mind and just had to come.
The whole way, she was nervous, silently praying that Ryan was okay.
If something happened to him, she didn't know how she would live on her own.
She was ready for anything, but as soon as she stepped out of the airport and turned off airplane mode, her phone rang.
Caller ID: Ryan Parker.
Seeing his name, Daisy almost dropped her phone in excitement.
With shaking hands, she swiped to answer.
Ryan's voice came through, "Finally! Do you know how many times I've called? I was so worried!"
Hearing his familiar voice, Daisy couldn't bear it any more and burst into tears.
"Where are you? Do you know how worried I was?"
She thought something terrible had happened to him.
She thought she might have lost him forever.
Hearing her cry, Ryan panicked, "I did run into some trouble! But don't cry, I'm fine now! I'm heading to the airport and will catch the latest flight back! Wait for me at home, don't walk around."
"Airport?" Daisy looked up at the sign, "Is it Pacific City International Airport?"
Ryan replied, "Yes, I'll be there soon! I'll be back in at most twenty hours!"
"Okay! I'll wait for you!"
Daisy emphasized her last three words.
But Ryan hid something in his heart and didn't notice her tone.
After the call, Daisy walked from the arrival gate to the departure gate, standing in the most noticeable spot to wait for Ryan.
Not for long, she saw Ryan getting out of a white taxi.
The moment she saw him, her tears fell like stringless pearls.
Ryan looked nothing like his usual self. He was a mess.
His clothes were dirty and messy, and he had cuts on corners of his mouth.
After getting off, he looked at the taxi's rearview mirror, combed his messy hair with his hands and tidied his clothes before heading into the airport.
Seeing him like that, Daisy felt sad.
When Ryan walked over, she hugged him tightly.
Ryan was stunned, thinking that he met a psycho. He frowned and pushed her away.
"What are you..."
Before he could finish talking, he saw Daisy's face and was stunned.
"Wh... Wh... What are you doing here?"
He'd been thinking about going back to Sunset Bay to see Daisy, who must have been worrying in the past days when he was detained. He hadn't noticed the people around him.
But he couldn't imagine!
There she was, right in front of him.
Before he could feel happy, Daisy held his face and kissed him hard and passionately.
She'd never been so active.
A faint salty taste slipped through their tightly pressed lips.
It was the taste of tears.
This excited Ryan, making his blood boiling. Just as he was about to embrace her for a deeper kiss, Daisy pushed him away and angrily punched him on his chest.
"You jerk, where did you go? Do you know how worried I was? You almost scared me to death."
Her punch landed right on Ryan's injured part, he crying out in pain.
Daisy was heartbroken and quickly asked, "What happened? Did I hurt you?"
Ryan didn't want her to worry, so he forced a smile and shook his head, "I'm fine! You hit me so lightly, there's no way it could hurt."
Daisy didn't believe him at all.
Seeing the cuts on Ryan's lip and the bruises around his eyes, she realized something and pulled off his shirt.
Ryan quickly covered his chest and turned around, "What are you doing? If you want to take off my clothes, let's do it at home. I'll be embarrassed here."
Ignoring him, Daisy parted his armsand yanked his shirt open.
She saw a large bruise in the shape of a footprint right on his chest.
Realizing how painful he was when she punched him, Daisy's tears flowed even harder.
"Sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't know you were hurt. How did you get injured? What happened? Where have you been these past two days? Why couldn't I contact with you? Do you know how worried I was? Patricia and Martin were also worrying about you. We thought something terrible had happened to you, and they were trying to find a way to rescue you."
Daisy's words reminded Ryan.
He slapped his forehead, "Damn, I forgot! I need to call Martin and let him know I'm safe."
Just as he finished speaking, his phone rang in his pocket.
It was Martin.
Ryan quickly answered, "Martin!"
There was no sound on the other side, just heavy breathing, like someone was trying hard to bear himself.
Ryan got worried and tentatively said, "Martin?"
Martin finally spoke, "Are you okay?"
His voice was trembling.
Charles had just called Martin, telling him that Ryan's phone had a signal again and that he was at the airport according to the location.
At first, Martin didn't believe it.
But the call really went through.
Martin also heard the long-missed voice.
Ryan was okay, and that was really great.
Ryan said, "Martin, I'm sorry to have worried you.!"
Martin was so happy that his voice was shaking, "It's good that you're okay, it's good that you're okay!"
Ryan, full of guilt, said, "I'm sorry to have worried you!"
Martin quickly said, "I should be the one to apologize to you. I shouldn't have dragged you into this."
Ryan didn't want Martin to feel guilty and said as he didn't take it seriously, "Martin, how can you say that! Your matter is my matter. We've been brothers for over twenty years. If you keep saying like that, I'll get mad."
Martin smiled, feeling very happy inside.
"What exactly happened these past two days? Why couldn't we contact you?"
Ryan slowly said, "I met a psycho! He drugged me and locked me up in a house! You wouldn't believe it, but he's really good at fighting. I couldn't beat him."
"You know my strength! Even you and Carter together can't beat me! But I couldn't get close to him! Instead, he took me down in one move."
"Martin, how did you provoke such a formidable person?"
Martin was shocked, "Then how did you escape?"
They all thought Ryan was doomed!
They didn't expect him to be safe and sound.
Ryan said, "He let me go!"
Martin, "He let you go?"
Ryan couldn't understand it either, "Yeah! We fought, and I was clearly no match for him. I thought I was going to die in his hands, but he let me go, gave me my phone back, and even gave me money for a taxi to the airport."
Martin was puzzled.
