Chapter 1023 The Plan Fails
Feeling guilty, Violet didn't dare knock on the door directly. She placed her hand on the doorknob, intending to open the door first and peek inside to see what was going on.
However, she found that the door was locked from the inside.
Violet was a bit surprised.
The door was actually locked from the inside.
Could it be that the drug had taken effect?
Charles didn't want to do anything inappropriate before marriage, so he locked himself in the room.
Thinking this, Violet became even more excited and a bit bolder. She raised her hand and knocked on the door.
At this moment, as long as she took the initiative, Charles's rationality would crumble.
Then she could naturally have sex with him.
Violet knocked for a while, but there was no response from inside.
She couldn't help but knock harder.
Still, there was no response from inside.
When she knocked even harder, it wasn't Charles who woke up, but Randy from the next room. He opened his door and looked at her in surprise.
"Hannah, what's going on?"
Violet felt awkward again, struggling to maintain her smile. "I'm looking for Charles, but the door is locked from the inside! I've been knocking, but he hasn't responded."
Randy was surprised. "The door is locked from the inside?"
None of them had the habit of locking their doors.
Charles never locked his door either.
Because he knew that if they needed him, they would knock first and wouldn't enter without his permission.
Why would Charles suddenly lock his door today?
Moreover, Charles and Hannah had been living together for a while, and today he even let Hannah stay alone.
There were just too many red flags.
Violet nodded.
To prevent Hannah from overthinking, Randy explained, "Maybe he's too tired today and has already fallen asleep! Charles is like that; once he's asleep, not even an earthquake can wake him."
This was just to comfort Hannah.
Charles was a light sleeper and would wake up at the slightest noise.
There were too many inexplicable things today. Although he didn't understand, he knew Charles must have a reason for doing this.
Randy continued, "Hannah, it's late. You should go back to your room and rest early!"
"Okay."
Under Randy's watchful eyes, Violet had no choice but to grit her teeth and reluctantly return to her room.
Charles's door was locked.
She couldn't get in by knocking.
All her plans had fallen through.
She was so frustrated that she almost smashed everything in the room, but she was afraid of arousing the Langley family's suspicion, so she vented her anger by kicking the wall.
Violet paced back and forth in her room, restless.
After a while, she took out her phone, switched to the SIM card she used to contact Austin, and called him.
But the call couldn't go through.
Austin should be on a plane right now, with his phone in airplane mode, so she couldn't reach him.
But what should she do?
Their plan had failed.
She couldn't reach Austin either.
Would the Langley family recognize her tomorrow?
Violet was so anxious that she couldn't sleep all night.
Finally, at three in the morning, Austin's call came through.
Little did they know that the moment their call connected, Charles also received a signal.
"You finally answered!"
Austin said sternly, "Didn't I tell you? From now on, don't contact me again! We shouldn't have any private contact."
To avoid being discovered, he had altered his voice.
Violet was on the verge of tears with anxiety.
"I didn't want to either! But I did what you said and gave Charles the drug! But now he's locked himself in his room, and I can't get in."
Austin asked in a deep voice, "Did you see him drink it with your own eyes?"
Violet swore, "I saw him drink it myself! After he did, I was afraid he'd get suspicious, so I didn't stay long and went back to my room. I thought I'd go over when the drug took effect. But his door was locked, and he didn't respond when I knocked! I can't get in at all! What should I do now? My makeup was heavy today, and you had someone touch it up, so they didn't recognize me! But I can't keep up the disguise tomorrow."
Austin cursed, "Idiot, you can't even handle something this simple!"
Violet didn't dare to breathe loudly after being scolded by Austin and could only endure it silently.
"I didn't want this either! How was I supposed to know that Charles and Hannah are so pure in their relationship? They haven't even had sex yet because they want to save their first time for their wedding night. I couldn't stay in his room for long."
Austin mocked, "Did you think Hannah was like you? She's always been conservative."
That was how Hannah was when she was with him too.
So he didn't doubt Violet's reason at all.
Violet said aggrievedly, "What should I do now? If I'm exposed tomorrow, how should I explain to them? The last time I hurt Hannah, Charles almost killed me! He definitely won't let me go this time."
Austin fell silent.
Violet was right.
Even if he found someone to disguise her as Hannah again tomorrow, their heights were different, and the Langley family was smart enough to see through it.
On the wedding day, Violet could wear high heels to adjust her height.
But Hannah never wore high heels on regular days. If Violet suddenly wore high heels tomorrow, it would definitely arouse their family's suspicion.
Even if Violet wore high heels, without a wedding dress to cover them, it would be obvious to anyone.
Since Violet couldn't have sex with Charles today, it meant their plan had failed, and Violet's identity would definitely be exposed tomorrow.
After a brief silence, Austin said, "The only way is for you to go back to the Moore family now and act like nothing happened. You are still you, Violet."
Violet understood his plan.
"Won't Charles be suspicious?"
Austin sneered, "Who has evidence to prove that it was you who replaced Hannah and got engaged to Charles yesterday? As long as you deny it, no one can do anything to you."
Violet was still hesitant. "But what about me and Charles?"
Austin said impatiently, "Hannah is already missing, and Charles is at his most vulnerable. This is the best time to take advantage. Whether you can be with Charles next depends on your own ability."
His words enlightened Violet instantly.
Yes!
Since the plan to disguise as Hannah had failed, she would go back to being Violet and openly pursue Charles as herself.
Without Hannah, she was sure that their childhood bond would mean Charles couldn't possibly remain indifferent to her.
As long as she didn't say anything, who would know that it was her, not Hannah, who got engaged to Charles today?
If she left quietly now, everyone would just think Hannah was missing and wouldn't suspect her.
Thinking this, Violet felt less panicked.
Violet's eyes gleamed with cunning as she suddenly asked, "What about Hannah? What did you do to her?"
