Chapter 120 Debbie Falls from the Clouds to the Valley
Seeing that she didn't want to say more, Martin stopped asking and walked up to her. Gently, he tucked her stray hair behind her ear.
The intimate gesture caused Patricia's recently calmed heart to race again.
In a hoarse voice, Martin asked, "Are you hungry? Let's go out for breakfast first! What would you like to eat?"
Concerned about rekindling her emotions, Patricia stepped back, putting some distance between them, and nodded awkwardly. "Having something to eat sounds like a good idea. We'll need the energy to take care of Randy when he wakes up."
Martin nodded happily.
Just as they turned around, before they even had a chance to leave, they heard a nurse standing outside the ICU say, "The patient has woken up."
One sentence successfully halted Patricia and Martin in their tracks.
The two rushed towards the window.
Sure enough, Randy, who had been unconscious, slowly opened his eyes. He seemed unaware of his surroundings and curiously looked around.
Patricia no longer had the appetite for a meal and quickly said to Martin, "It's not suitable for too many people to enter the ICU at the same time. I'll go in first, and you can go in after I come out."
Martin nodded in agreement.
Patricia immediately changed into sterile clothing and entered the ICU.
Although she wore a mask and a sterile cap, only revealing her eyes, Randy still recognized her at a glance. His eyes instantly reddened, and his cracked lips moved with difficulty as he called out, "Mommy..."
Patricia's eyes also welled up with tears that she couldn't control.
"Randy, how do you feel? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?"
Randy nodded slowly. "I...am...fine...Mommy...don't...worry...," taking his time to speak one word at a time.
Seeing how much effort he put into speaking, Patricia cried even more, wanting to reach out and touch his head. However, as she remembered the current situation, she reluctantly pulled her hand back.
"The surgery was successful. You'll need to stay here for two more days. If everything goes well, you'll be transferred to a regular ward, and then I'll bring Charles and Fannie to see you."
Seeing her cry, Randy couldn't hold back his tears either.
"Mommy..."
About to say something, Patricia immediately silenced him.
"Don't speak. Just rest well and let Mommy take a good look at you..."
As a doctor, she was used to witnessing these kinds of scenes. However, when it was her turn to experience it, she couldn't control her emotions.
Thinking about how Randy had to suffer at such a young age, her heart ached uncontrollably.
If it were possible, she wished she could be the one who fell ill, not Randy.
Randy obediently stayed silent, tears silently streaming down his face.
Seeing him cry, Patricia's heart ached even more.
Taking a deep breath, she held back her tears and smiled, saying, "Don't cry, you just had surgery, and your body is weak. Crying is not good for your eyes."
Randy listened intently, his tears still falling.
Patricia nodded, but she couldn't stop her tears from flowing. She was afraid that staying like this would be detrimental to Randy's recovery, so she couldn't stay any longer.
She quickly said, "Rest well, I'll go out and let your father come in to see you."
Randy nodded, and Patricia turned and left.
Seeing her teary eyes, Martin's heart clenched uncontrollably with pain. "Why are you crying?" he asked.
Patricia sniffed and sobbed, "I saw Randy's condition, and it hurt my heart. He's only four and a half years old, yet he has to go through so much pain..."
Martin reached out and brushed away the tears from her eyes. "Don't cry, wasn't the surgery successful? Soon, he'll be just like Charles."
His palm felt like it had flames, causing Patricia's skin to sting. Forgetting to cry, she took a step back in unease and said, "I'm fine now, you should go in quickly. Remember, don't touch him, just talk to him."
"Okay! I got it!" Martin did not notice Patricia's discomfort. He changed into sterile clothing and walked in quietly.
Patricia stood outside the glass window, unable to hear what they were saying, but she saw Randy stop crying and soon fall into a deep sleep.
After glancing at him reluctantly for a while, Martin walked out. This little incident made both of them lose their appetite.
Martin called the housekeeper and asked him to send meals to the hospital three times a day. He and Patricia stayed by the ICU without leaving.
In this way, they safely spent two peaceful days.
Madam Thomas, in gratitude towards Debbie, even personally accepted a TV interview, praising Debbie endlessly.

These past two days, patients who came specifically for Debbie crowded the office, suffocating the space. For a moment, her reputation echoed throughout the medical field, becoming unparalleled.
Randy and Bobby recovered very well. Based on their conditions, they could be transferred to a regular ward.
As a precaution, Patricia insisted on letting Randy stay in the ICU for one more night to observe.
As for Debbie, she was immersed in her newfound fame, becoming conceited and eager to arrange for Bobby to be transferred from the ICU as soon as possible.
When Patricia went out to use the restroom, she saw a nurse pushing Bobby's bed towards the regular ward.
Madam Thomas, worried, asked Debbie again and again, "Debbie, is it really okay for Bobby to be transferred to a regular ward now? Shouldn't he stay in the ICU for another day, considering that his surgery was done together with Randy's? Is Randy still in the ICU?"
Debbie pursed her lips, sneering, "The reason Randy is still in the ICU is because Patricia's medical skills are inadequate, and his recovery hasn't been good. I personally performed Bobby's surgery, and his recovery is going well. There are no issues with transferring him to a regular ward, so please rest assured."
Madam Thomas still had concerns, "Are you sure there are no problems?"
Debbie assured her confidently, "I assure you, there are no problems. Randy's case is a separate matter. You can trust me."
No problem, definitely no problem! When have I ever deceived you! Hurry to the ward, Bobby will wake up soon."
Despite this, Madam Thomas was still very worried.
For some reason, since this morning, she had an inexplicable sense of unease, always feeling that something was about to happen.
But seeing Debbie so confident, she thought she was worrying too much.
Patricia couldn't bear to watch any longer and kindly reminded, "Debbie, I suggest you keep Bobby under observation in the ICU for a few more days. His condition is different from Randy's."
Debbie was so arrogant that she didn't even spare Patricia a glance.
"I am Bobby's main surgeon, while you are Randy's main surgeon. That's the biggest difference between the two of them."
Patricia stared at Debbie intently and suddenly smiled. A contemptuous and pitiful smile.
"Debbie, one day you will pay the price for your arrogance and recklessness!" After saying that, she couldn't be bothered to say another word and walked away without looking back.
Debbie, who had been praised these past few days, couldn't bear Patricia's contemptuous gaze. She grabbed her to prevent her from leaving, "Patricia, what do you mean by that? Don't leave until you explain."
Patricia disgustedly shook off her hand, "If you want fame and fortune, you should rely on your true abilities. Taking shortcuts won't get you far. Debbie, take care of yourself."
With those words, she turned around and left.
Debbie, unwilling to accept this, tried to hold her back but was swiftly evaded. Debbie was infuriated, her face turning green.
Just as Patricia reached the entrance to Randy's ICU, she suddenly heard a commotion of hurried footsteps in the corridor, followed by the anxious voice of a nurse, "Professor Brown, something has happened to Bobby..."
