Chapter 1103 The Truth About Hannah's Background Revealed
Quentin and Lisa realized something was wrong. While everyone's attention was on the nurse, they quietly prepared to escape.
But sharp-eyed Stella noticed them. She ran over, spread her arms, and blocked their way. "Where do you think you're going?"
At this point, there was nothing they didn't understand. Even a fool could guess the truth.
Everyone's eyes, drawn by her sudden voice, turned to Quentin and Lisa.
Feeling everyone's gaze, Quentin and Lisa stiffened and turned their heads.
Seeing everyone looking as if they wanted to kill them, Lisa quickly explained with an awkward smile, "My husband has a stomachache. I was going to accompany him to the restroom."
Stella put her hands on her hips, looking furious. "Tell us, what's going on? Why is Lassie a direct relative of Hannah? Isn't Hannah your daughter? If you don't give us an explanation today, don't think about leaving here."
The nurse watched in shock. Seeing they were missing the point, she said helplessly, "Can you first see if you can get some blood? If we don't give the patient a transfusion soon, it will be very dangerous."
Everyone then remembered that compared to Hannah's background, her life was the most important thing at the moment.
Fortunately, Martin remained rational and said in a deep voice, "I've already had my assistant pull up the personal information of all the company's employees. There are many people with RH-positive blood! They are already on their way."
When the nurse mentioned that Hannah had developed graft-versus-host disease, he realized something was wrong and had Alan pull the records.
Luckily, Alan had an exceptional memory. Years ago, because of Fannie, Alan had reviewed the employees' personal information.
Although employees change over the years, most had been with the company for over a decade. Alan, with his extraordinary memory, especially remembered those with this rare blood type and had them come over immediately.
He also pulled up the records of new employees and called over all those with RH-positive blood, hoping to resolve the urgent situation.
The nurse, frightened by their earlier behavior, cautiously asked, "Are they not direct relatives?"
Martin replied, "Of course not! This time, I'm 100% sure!"
The nurse breathed a sigh of relief, her tone softening. "That's good! Once they arrive, have them tested immediately. We can't afford any more mistakes! Not even God could save her then."
She had indeed been very angry earlier. She had confirmed several times. But it was still wrong! She had been scolded by the doctor.
Martin confidently assured, "There won't be any mistakes!"
"That's good!" The nurse, satisfied, returned to the emergency room.
After she left, everyone united again, their eyes turning back to Quentin and Lisa. Lassie, trembling, took step after step closer to them.
For the first time, Quentin and Lisa felt fear, their legs involuntarily retreating. They wanted to turn and run but found Stella blocking their way.
"You're not going anywhere until you explain everything! Besides, with the Langley family's status in Sunset Bay, without Martin's order, who would dare let you leave? If you don't want to get hurt, you'd better tell the truth! Otherwise, Martin has ways to make you talk."
Martin felt helpless listening. Quentin and Lisa were just ordinary people with poor mental resilience. Threatened by Stella, their legs gave out, and they collapsed to the ground.
Without much coercion, Lisa confessed directly, "Hannah is indeed not our biological daughter! Our daughter died in a car accident. We hadn't recovered from the grief when we found her. She didn't remember anything. Seeing she was about the same age as our daughter, we adopted her and gave her our daughter's identity."
Stella didn't believe a word and kicked Lisa hard in the shoulder. "You're lying! Who are you trying to fool? There can't be so many coincidences! If you were really so kind, you wouldn't have treated Hannah the way you did all these years. I should have guessed it long ago. How could real parents treat their daughter like that? So, you really are impostors."
Lisa, kicked to the ground by Stella, quickly got up. "I'm telling the truth! We were still living in Sunset Bay back then. One night, my husband felt unwell, and on our way to the hospital, we found Hannah! She really didn't remember anything! I admit, I didn't want to get involved and planned to take her to the police."
"But my son had just lost his sister and was very sad. He liked her at first sight and wouldn't let her go, asking us to keep her. I couldn't refuse my son, so we kept her. Shortly after, my husband got a job transfer, and we moved to Country D. We really didn't know she was the Moore family's daughter. If we had known, we would have returned her long ago."
In fact, all of this was a lie. It was a story Austin had made up the day he gave Hannah to them. Austin said that if Hannah was ever found, they should say this.
Hiding someone else's daughter was akin to kidnapping, which was illegal. But if they said they found her and kindly raised her, not only would it not be illegal, but they might even be praised.
Anyway, no matter what, they couldn't let anyone know they had intentionally hidden Hannah, nor could they expose Austin. Who knew what more perverse things he might do?
Austin was, after all, the Moore family's son. Even if the truth came out, the Moore family wouldn't do much to him, at most a scolding and a minor punishment.
But it was different for them. They were just ordinary people and couldn't bear the Moore family's wrath. If Austin held a grudge against them for betraying him and sought revenge, they might die.
Before, Charles was their son-in-law, and they could rely on him. Now, Charles probably wanted to kill them.
Damn it. If they had known Hannah was the real Violet, they would never have adopted her. Maybe if they had returned her seven years ago, they could have received a handsome reward.
Stella accused them, "Nonsense! I think you were in cahoots with the kidnappers back then, deliberately keeping Hannah with you to achieve your ulterior motives."
Afraid of being misunderstood, Lisa shook her head vigorously. "No, really no! No matter how bold we are, we wouldn't dare kidnap the Moore family's daughter! Besides, we have no grudge against the Moore family, why would we do that? My husband was just an ordinary employee back then. We've always been honest and upright! If you don't believe it, you can investigate."
