Chapter 1095 Hannah Out of Control
Charles indeed took Hannah on the bus back to the city. The bus couldn't take them directly to Sunshine Manor; they had to transfer once they reached the city.
Hannah sat by the window, with Charles next to her.
Seeing Hannah staring absentmindedly out the window, Charles smiled and put his arm around her shoulder, saying, "Why are you so distracted? Something on your mind?"
Since meeting Quentin and Lisa, Hannah's brows hadn't relaxed. "Are they really my parents?"
Charles affectionately tapped her nose. "Who else would they be?"
A trace of doubt flashed in Hannah's eyes. "But, I don't know why, I just don't feel that connection with them! Isn't there supposed to be an invisible bond between parents and children?"
She continued, "I've seen a lot of TV shows where parents and children get separated when they're young, but no matter how many years pass, when they meet again, they feel very close. That feeling should be familial love."
"But I don't feel that at all with them! I just forgot them, but we haven't been apart for decades! I even kind of dislike them. When I first opened my eyes and saw you, I didn't feel that way either."
"I don't feel that way with any of you! Only with them! If they really are my parents, even if they favored my brother before, I shouldn't feel this way!"
Faced with her barrage of questions, Charles couldn't find a reasonable explanation.
Logically, Hannah's condition was improving. She had started to remember some things, albeit very few, but it was definitely better than when she first came back.
She even remembered bits and pieces about recognizing Lassie as her godmother. Why couldn't she remember anything about her biological parents?
Even if Quentin and Lisa's favoritism towards Oliver had caused a rift between them and Hannah. This hypnosis should have eliminated that rift! The bond of blood and family should still be there! Why was Hannah so resistant to them?
Could it be that she had some significant trauma from her childhood? Something that made her have no expectations or affection for her parents?
Since he couldn't figure it out, Charles decided not to dwell on it. After all, Hannah's situation was different now, and many things couldn't be reasoned out with normal thinking.
He gently pressed Hannah's head onto his shoulder, his long fingers softly stroking her hair."If you can't figure it out, don't think about it! They won't stay in Sunset Bay for long, and after we get married, we won't live with them! If you like them, we'll keep in touch more; if you don't, we'll keep in touch less! No need to stress over it. I just want you to be happy every day!" His family was happy, and he naturally hoped Hannah's family would be too.
If Hannah really couldn't accept Quentin and Lisa, then there was nothing he could do! He still had to prioritize Hannah's feelings and preferences.
Hannah thought he made sense. Since she didn't like them, they would keep in touch less. No need to be sad because of them.
Hannah sighed deeply and said sadly, "Do you think they are really my parents?"
Charles raised an eyebrow. "Why are you asking that again? Didn't you just ask that?"
Hannah said gloomily, "I just think it's a pity. I was just thinking, if Aunt Lassie were my biological mother, how great that would be."
Charles laughed. "Why?"
Hannah explained, "I don't know why, but every time I see her, I want to be close to her. I think she's so beautiful, so gentle, I really like her."
Charles teased her on purpose, "Is she the only one who's beautiful and gentle? My mother isn't beautiful and gentle? Aunt Daisy isn't beautiful and gentle?"
Hannah's face turned red from his teasing, and she lightly punched him, saying coyly, "You're so annoying, you know that's not what I meant, but you still say it on purpose."
Charles chuckled deeply and kissed her forehead. "Lassie is your godmother now, isn't she? You like her, and she likes you, isn't that perfect?"
Hannah didn't say anything more, her slender fingers playing with Charles's shirt buttons.
After they got back to the city by bus, they didn't rush home. Charles took Hannah to see a movie and then to an amusement park for a while. They didn't go home until dinner time.
In the following days, Quentin and Lisa tried every way to see Hannah, always trying to please her, hoping she would remember them.
Unfortunately, the more they tried to please her, the more Hannah resisted them. Eventually, she even wanted to run away when she heard their voices or names; she didn't want to see them at all.
One morning, Lisa brought some homemade soup to see Hannah again.
Hannah was extremely annoyed by her. "Please don't come to see me anymore. I don't know you, and I have no feelings for you. Your constant presence just annoys me."
But Lisa wouldn't listen, stubbornly trying to please her. "I started making this soup before dawn. Whether you like it or not, can you at least try a sip? Hannah, we know we wronged you before and did many things that hurt you! We regret it now! Can you forgive us? We really care about you."
Quentin anxiously added, "Hannah, can you forgive us? We did wrong before, but that doesn't mean we don't love you!"
"Yes, Hannah, we..."
Watching their mouths open and close, Hannah suddenly felt a sharp pain in her temples, as if someone was hammering her head repeatedly.
It felt like there were countless flies buzzing around her ears. She felt so uncomfortable. Her head hurt so much. Why were they so noisy?
It had been days, and they came to bother her every day. She had already said no. But they still came to bother her.
Hearing the commotion outside, Charles, who was discussing something with Martin in the study, hurried out.
Seeing Hannah clutching her head in pain, he immediately sensed something was wrong. He quickly walked over and held her in his arms, shouting sternly, "Enough, stop talking! Can't you see Hannah is in pain?"
Quentin and Lisa immediately fell silent.
Lisa asked worriedly, "What's wrong with Hannah? Is it a side effect of the amnesia?"
Quentin also asked anxiously, "Is she going to be okay? Should we take her to the hospital?"
Charles looked down at Hannah in his arms, feeling heartbroken. "Hannah, don't be afraid, I'm here. I'm always here with you."
Unfortunately, his comfort had no effect on Hannah at this moment.
Hannah's mind was filled with the image of Quentin and Lisa's mouths opening and closing, and their constant calls of "Hannah."
She didn't know where she got the strength, but she suddenly pushed Charles's hand away and broke down, "Please stop bothering me!"
With that, she ran down the stairs and out the door.
Quentin and Lisa were stunned, not knowing what was wrong with Hannah. Why did she seem like a madwoman?
Charles gave Quentin and Lisa a cold look and immediately chased after her.
Not far from the entrance of Sunshine Manor, Violet sat in her car, staring coldly at the closed gate, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly, her eyes filled with resentment and malice.
