Chapter 994 Violet's Dilemma

Seeing Violet about to do something drastic, Lassie tossed all her principles aside. "Violet, don't hurt yourself. Come on, give me the knife. I promise I'll protect you and never let anyone harm you."

Stella, hearing this, got furious and snapped, "What do you mean by protecting her? What about what she did to Hannah? She always pulls this stunt when she wants something. If she doesn't get her way, she threatens to kill herself. Go ahead if you have the guts! People like you are a menace; the world would be better off without you."

"Enough!" Lassie shouted, then quickly softened her tone, pleading, "Stella, Violet's been through so much. It's my fault she's like this. If I had protected her better, she wouldn't have been kidnapped. I know what she did was wrong, and I'll take full responsibility. Please, don't blame her anymore."

Stella, exasperated, replied, "She's reckless because she knows you all feel guilty about her kidnapping. You're not helping her; you're enabling her. Today it's Hannah, tomorrow it could be someone else. Are you going to clean up her mess every time?"

Lassie was speechless.

She wanted to be fair and wanted Violet to face the consequences.

But she couldn't bring herself to do it.

If Violet were normal, she wouldn't cover up her mistakes. It would hurt, but she'd let her face the music.

But Violet was sick.

Everything she did was because of her illness, beyond her control.

"I'll keep a close watch on her from now on. I won't let her make any more mistakes!" Then she turned to Charles and said, "Charles, please, forgive her this time. I know she was wrong, and I'm willing to bear any consequences for her."

Violet, still defiant, argued, "I did nothing wrong. Hannah is a homewrecker; she deserves to die. If it weren't for that bitch Stella, I would have ruined her face so she could never seduce Charles again."

Lassie, sweating with anxiety, pleaded, "Violet, stop talking!"

Lassie had done everything she could to help Violet.

But if Violet kept this up, even her life wouldn't be enough to calm Charles' anger.

Charles' face was icy, like a demon from hell.

He said, "You're Carter's daughter. So I can't cripple you or strip you naked and throw you out, which would embarrass Carter."

Violet secretly sighed in relief.

She thought that even if she killed Hannah, Charles wouldn't do anything to her.

With their history and the protection of Carter and Lassie, Charles would definitely let her go.

Austin frowned. "Charles, do you know what you're saying? Aren't you afraid of breaking Hannah's heart if she finds out?"

Even though Violet was his pawn, he didn't want anything bad to happen to her.

But Violet had hurt Hannah and needed to learn a lesson.

His plan was for her to take Charles away; she could mess with anyone but Hannah.

That was his line in the sand.

Violet slowly moved, trying to get closer to Charles. But as soon as she took a step, she heard Charles say, "But since you dared to hurt Hannah, this can't be ignored."

Then he looked at Wyatt and asked, "Is the mental hospital ready?"

Wyatt nodded. "It's ready."

Charles glared at Violet with a dark expression, anger boiling in his eyes. "Take her there."

Violet didn't expect that even her suicide attempt wouldn't change Charles' mind. She forced herself to stay calm, pressing the sharp blade slightly, causing a cut on her delicate neck.

Bright red blood flowed from the wound, leaving a long trail on her skin.

Her collar was stained with a large patch of blood.

Lassie was so scared that her voice started to tremble. "Violet, don't. Listen to me, don't hurt yourself. If anything happens to you, how will I live?"

She grabbed Charles's hand, pleading, "Charles, I'm begging you, just calm her down first."

Carter stepped forward, pulling her into his arms, his strong hand resting on her shoulder, comforting, "Honey, don't worry. Charles knows what he's doing."

Lassie leaned into Carter's arms, crying uncontrollably.

She didn't understand how things had gotten to this point and why Violet had become so vicious.

But she was still her child.

Charles ignored Lassie's pleas, stepping closer to Violet, his eyes filled with layers of darkness. "Do you want to die?"

Violet was confused.

Charles said indifferently, "Then do it."

Violet couldn't believe it and asked, "Charles, do you really not want me anymore?"

Charles sneered, his voice as cold as ice. "We have nothing to do with each other. From now on, don't call me Charles; you don't have that right! Today, I give you two choices: either die or go to the mental hospital. You choose."

The coldness in Charles' eyes made Violet's hand tremble, almost dropping the knife and cutting her carotid artery.

Tears streamed down her face.

Violet said, "Charles, are you really going to be this cruel to me? I love you so much. My dream since childhood was to marry you. Why are you so cruel? Why did you change your heart?"

Charles acted as if he hadn't heard, saying indifferently, "Aren't you going to commit suicide? Do it! Even if you don't, I'll slowly torture you to death."

Hearing this, Lassie feared Violet might really do it and was about to speak, but Carter pressed her shoulder.

Carter said, "Don't say anything more. There are many things you don't know. I'll explain later."

Lassie cried even harder. But she obediently stayed silent.

Violet's gaze fixed on Lassie and Carter for a long time, realizing they weren't reacting as they used to, immediately agreeing to all her unreasonable demands when she threatened suicide.

For a moment, she was stuck.

She couldn't go through with the suicide, nor could she give up.

If she committed suicide, her life would be over.

If she gave up, it would tell everyone that this tactic no longer worked and could never be used again.
