Chapter 844: Austin Gets Jealous
Hannah fired up the grill for the first time, feeling like a total boss with every piece she cooked. She was so into it, she didn't even notice Austin had bounced.
Austin found a faucet and splashed his face and hair, but his clothes were a lost cause.
Dude didn't think ahead and forgot to bring a change of clothes.
Feeling all greasy and gross, he had to just suck it up.
When he got back, the table was loaded with more grilled goodies.
Hannah and Charles were killing it behind the grill.
Austin zoned out, watching Hannah through the smoke.
She was grinning from ear to ear.
They were chatting about something, and she even playfully punched Charles when she got excited.
Austin was in a daze.
He'd been with Hannah forever, but he'd never seen her this happy or chill.
Even from a distance, he could tell she was in a great mood.
Her happiness was contagious, and he found himself smiling too.
Hannah was genuinely happy with Charles.
When she was with Austin, she always smiled, but never like this.
Feeling uneasy, he slowly clenched his fist on the table.
Charles and Hannah kept grilling and munching.
Stella was chowing down too.
Austin, though, had no appetite and just nibbled on a few skewers.
After eating, Stella dragged Austin to return the grill.
The sky was getting darker. Night was creeping in.
The sunset painted the sky a deep red, like blood.
Stella was so blown away by the view, she couldn't stop tapping Hannah, "Hannah, Hannah, check it out! It's so gorgeous!"
No wonder everyone raved about the sunsets here.
She thought it was all hype, but it was the real deal.
Even the clouds were tinted red and purplish-red.
Looking out, it seemed like the clouds were touching the sky.
Hannah's arm was getting sore from Stella's tapping, so she grabbed her hand, "I get it, stop tapping me. Tap yourself if you want!"
Stella clutched her hand, all excited, "It's so beautiful, this is my first time seeing a sunset like this. I didn't think it would be this amazing."
Hannah looked at the sunset too and couldn't help but say, "It really is stunning!"
She had some regrets before.
But now, she felt it was totally worth the trip, even if it was freezing!
Seeing such a beautiful scene made it all worth it.
The sunset was beautiful but short-lived. They barely got to enjoy it before it was gone.
Stella sighed, "It's gone! I didn't get enough of it!"
Hannah laughed, "If you want to see it again, we can come back! Next time, we'll be better prepared, not like today, with nothing."
Stella nodded, stood up, and handed out the blankets they bought from the convenience store to Austin and Charles, while she shared one with Hannah.
Stella said, "It's gonna be super cold on the mountain at night! Even though we didn't rent clothes, wrapping up in blankets should keep us warm enough!"
Hannah was wearing short sleeves, and while grilling, she didn't feel the cold.
But now she was starting to freeze and quickly wrapped herself in a blanket.
Even with the blanket, it was freezing at night.
As it got darker, Hannah started shivering from the cold.
Hannah asked, "Stella, it's so cold! Should we head down? I wonder if the cable car is still running."
Stella said, "The cable car shuts down at six! Since we're already here, let's tough it out! If it's really cold, just snuggle up tighter."
Hannah didn't say anything more. She really wanted to see the sunrise.
Stella's eyes lit up mischievously, "Let's gather some dry branches and make a bonfire! Sitting around the fire won't be cold."
Hannah frowned, "Is that even allowed?"
There were so many people around, but no one else was doing that.
Stella pulled her up, "I say it's fine! Come on, let's quickly gather some branches!"
Hannah's blanket slipped off, and she shivered from the cold.
Stella rubbed her arms, "Run, running will warm you up! Come on, let's quickly check the woods behind us."
Hannah felt helpless about her actions.
Hannah worried, "It's nighttime, the woods aren't safe! We can just wrap ourselves in the blankets, no need to start a fire."
Stella waved dismissively, "Oh, it won't be dangerous! This isn't a wild forest, there are streetlights everywhere. It won't be dangerous, come on."
She had just taken two steps when someone grabbed her collar.
Charles's voice sounded from behind, "What bonfire! Didn't you say there was a hotel? Let's go to the hotel."
Stella protested, "But I want to see the sunrise."
Ignoring her objections, Charles dragged her towards the hotel.
Charles said, "The sunrise is in the morning. If you want to see it, get up early. There's no need to stay here all night!"
Stella kept stepping back and almost fell.
Stella insisted, "No! I want to see the sunrise with my own eyes! Look, everyone else is waiting here!"
Charles resisted the urge to roll his eyes, "They have tents. What do you have? Come on, let's go back! It's better to sleep on the floor with the heater on than to stay out here in the cold all night."
Stella wailed, "Charles, I want to camp, I don't want to stay in the hotel."
Despite Stella's wailing, Charles dragged her back to the room.
The room was heated, and as soon as the door opened, the warmth hit them.
Hannah happily ran inside, "Great, we don't have to sleep outside tonight!"
Charles calmly arranged, "Stella and Hannah sleep on the bed, Austin on the sofa, and I'll sleep on the floor! Everyone take a shower first, then go to bed early. We'll get up early tomorrow."
Stella pouted and reluctantly went to the bathroom.
She had been the most resistant at first, but when she finally lay on the bed, she was the first to fall asleep.
She lay on her side, hugging Hannah tightly like an octopus.
Austin slept on the sofa. Charles slept on the floor in the living room.
After a tiring day, everyone quickly fell asleep, except for Austin, who couldn't sleep on the sofa. He sat up, staring at the sleeping Hannah, with many things he wanted to say but no opportunity to say them.
The room was so quiet that he could clearly hear everyone's breathing.
Austin watched Hannah for a long time before finally falling asleep in the middle of the night.
